I have been going to Sosua since 2011 and it has changed somewhat as I saw in August this year, with few women on the prowl and I mentioned even a policewoman chasing a poor girl trying to hide inside a store. The fact of the matter is that, for me, it changes nothing. I still find the place interesting with its small footprint, expat population and accordingly, good restaurants. The women? They all come to you. So whoever is reading this, especially the US crowd who seem to be more into story telling or wondering, can plan ahead and, what with google translate, it is a no-brainer even for the language challenged. The sky is not falling!

P.S: I will back there for another weekend, hopefully soon and then there is Christmas time amid warm weather.

Sosua has always been a PR problem for the local officials who are charged with public safety and law and order.

Sosua main street at night is basically an unregulated brothel, where on a busy night a tourist can't even walk down Pedro without been accosted, swarmed and even physically groped by hard core hookers. Unlicensed motoconchos ignore basic traffic rules and are a continual public safety hazard. Not many places in the world where this state of affairs is tolerated on it's main street.

This has made Sosua notorious as a sex destination attracting hordes of mongers and their money. The reality is that the whole town depends on this business to keep the hotels rooms and restaurants filled.

To some like me, the lack of regulation is a refreshing change from the nanny states I have lived in. Aside from all the available women, a visitor can enjoy a smoke with his coffee or beer, buy fresh home cooked street food from the locals or the guy with an oil drum BBQ on the empty lot across the street, or hop a moto to the supermarket for a buck.

But there has to be some controls and so they do what they can to satisfy everybody.

They see the solution, not as banning prostitution, but trying to decentralize it.

There are a still quite a few fairly large bars up the side streets that were once thriving, but are now derelict because they couldn't compete with Classico, Rumba and D'Latin. So it seems feasible to move the red light action away from main street.

The changes will affect some mongers who like to get a cheap hotel room, buy cheap beer from the colmado, and pluck a cheap hooker from the street, but meeting a well dressed and well behaved chica in a bar, maybe a little music and dancing, might bring a little more of that old time traditional romance back to the scene.

Look, no problem, I'll eat crow as I promised if it doesn't fail to materialize. The reason why I don't think it will materialize is that I've seen Cabaret. And I'm sure you have too. I mean, even after 3-4 Cuba Libres, even if you close your eyes and let your imagination run wild, you won't see that place attracting the kind of crowd Marriott would want for its top brands. Also, I haven't found anything about Cabaret or DR's North Coast for that matter in Marriott's own press releases. Bloomberg reports Marriott's plans for Punta Cana -- again, not a word about Cabaret or Puerto Plata. I don't know, I guess, we'll see. Really, who cares, though.

Just a guess. Since the mayor wants the bars moved. The owner keep the downstairs bar closed and he open Classico. Since you basically cannot see into Classico from the street. But only a guess.

The Ritz is going to be at La Boca in Cabarete. The Gansevoort is currently being renovated and is going to be another one of the Marriott high end Hotels. The third hotel is another renovation of a closed property in Cabarete, the name escapes me. Google it. Questner these aren't rumor, these projects were announced by Marriott themselves, its happening. And these are all 200-800 dollar a night rooms, again Google it if you don't believe me.

We shall see. The more rooms the more hookers in town.

In Sosua next weekend for 10 days. Not changing my plans. Screw the mayor, Been going since 2011. Use to find skinny good looking girls at 1:30 to 2 am. Between 2011-2014 in Classico. But times have change. You just have to make adjustments. The girls will find us. They need the money.

I go to Angeles 120 days a year. Use to be cheap 10-20 years ago. The usual guy would stay two weeks. Now its like two or three days. Not cheap anymore because the Korean can fly down for the weekend and don't care what they pay. Its like Southern California guys spending all their money in Vegas. I have made my adjustments. Current barfine (no negotiation, flat rate in bar) it is 3000-3500 p (52 to the dollar). Plus 500 p tip plus they want one or two drinks at 300 p per drink. It like 4000 p total $80 US and you have a 50/50 chance of short time. I made my adjustments. 1500 p out of the disco (tip is 100 p for trike) and 1200 plus tip (300 to 500) out of three short time bars. Trips are 30 days and I end up with around 30 different girls. Girls I get are sevens. Made my adjustments why the tourist and Korean pay the top prices. Plus some of the star? Girls want 4000 p instead of 3500 p.

Casinos?? City Lights? Beach??Eating places the girl go to?? Adjustments and adapting in Sosua.

Facts! I'll be down in two weeks and I'm not worried. I've built a pretty nice WhatsApp team. Many on the north coast. I've already have chicas lined up. It may be a little boring, but I won't lack for chicas. The writing has been on the wall for a couple of years that change was coming. My espanol is decent, which helps.

As far as the game moving, it may. I'm sure you'll see more chicas in Puerto Plata and caberete. But in my opinion the overall theme is they want it low key. So if bourbon st or rumba gets to busy their probably going to feel the heat. Build your contacts gentlemen!

I've been seeing more and more families and non mongers the last 2 years or so. But not in the numbers they want. Point is the north coast was a cheap trip, with snowbirds on a budget who put money into the economy. We were the icing on the cake. Stepped my game up. I now use a majic wand product from amazon. The reviews have been very good. The casino near Dulce Secreto has a very nice disco. Rumbas and Bourbon st could benefit from thse changes. Both are in compliance being restaurants and coincidetially Afro American owned and like wise Envie is in a good location for the futur.

Whatever happened to THIS report that you provided a few days ago? Where did that information come from? Clearly that info is suspect. In subsequent days / nights after that presidential order, guys were reporting that both places were open. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Willie voluntarily close both of them today or yesterday? Which is it? Presidential order or voluntary?

Obvious I had news that you did not know and it was not fake. Go back and look at my time line. Now, on Froday one of classico's busiest nights that would shut down voluntarily. That makes sense to you that is was there decision. Let it go.

LOL. Now that I will believe when I see. So many sprawling luxury resorts out east where it is also cheaper to fly to. Nobody is trying to go to a cooped up hotel along a two-lane DR-5 no matter how luxurious it is.
