    Question

What is the best way to avoid this type of situation as stated below.

    Be Careful Out There, Guys

In the last 36 hrs, I have personally witnessed two shake-downs of tourist mongers by a combination of Dominican puta / policia / fiscal.

    Case #1.

Tourist takes Dominican puta to the room and states beforehand that he does not want any sex because of too much alcohol. Puta asks to just be allowed to sleep by his side. Tourist wakes up after doozing off, and notices that puta is dressed and RDP 1, 500 are missing. He physically shakes her, she returns the money, they go downstairs to the hotel bar, have a drink, declare the matter settled, and make peace. Afterwards back to the room for a good nights sleep.

Next morning the puta files a complaint with the police, and Policia Nacional shows up with an arrest warrant shortly after 10 am. Tourist monger gets released 4 h later and after paying a combined RDP 60, 000 to all involved.

    Case #2.

Tourist monger sessions with a different Dominican puta. Puta claims loudly, on the sidewalk that guy wanted sex w / o condom and that he physically attacked her. Meanwhile dude sits in adjacent restaurant with a beer rather than increasing the distance between him and her. Politur shows up and arrests him on the spot on a Sunday afternoon (!). He is now spending the night in the Sosua jail until the fiscal opens on Monday morning and reviews the case.

I bet a Grande Presidente that the monetary damage will be on the order of that in case #1. Plus, who needs this stress on a vacation.

    Mr E

Man, you always remember the weird shit I say. But I will take ownership of it LOL. When we were kids, some kind of competitive sports was going on if it was more than two of us. From basketball in the alley in a trash can, to "chase" a game where the older boys would chase you and if they caught you the price to pay was a knuckle punch to the legs. Football, slap-boxing etc. We just couldn't post up and do nothing.

The Dominicans call it the "Dominican way", which means don't make plans and don't worry about nothing. Momma will cook a meal. Girlfriend will pay the rent, and there isn't child support enforcement to worry about. Shit, now that I think about it not a bad deal.

There are different kinds of mongers. So the following generalization doesn't apply to all mongers, but I've met some like this. One constant is the USA is the only place I know of where guys can make really good money and not have a girl they want to deal with.

Some guys don't have shit going on back at the crib and for them it really is more than just a quick nutt. There is a void that the putas fill beyond just the sex. Guys clearly do shit that maybe should be reserved for that special person, but if that ain't there the puta becomes that person. The feeling of being needed and being in a "relationship" can become as addictive as crack for some people.

These guys don't spend money on shit back home because they don't have a woman, so they are often more willing and inclined to wire a chica in the DR money. Many don't exercise game anymore back home so they are not even in that mindset. Some know they are getting played, but ain't shit else going on so they deal with it.

Think about those guys that made "Frustrated" about Rio. Some said they don't even fuck with bitches back home. I know dudes like that who never hang out in the states and just save their money for their next trip to Rio, DR or wherever.

As much as dudes want to put on the public face about it being about how many chicas they fucked, you can outgrow that shit fast too and it can become old. For all the new chicas some people talk about in Sosua. 85% of the people stay the same if you go there often enough. That "scene" can play it self out, especially now that most of it is concentrated at D'Latin at night.

Meanwhile, the Haitians build the country, as they are busting their ass in the hot ass sun. Ask some of those Dominicans playing dominos and drinking Brugal and Presidente all day about that.

Dude you are trying to analyze this thing too deeply. Just because I said Gogo made a statement while riding through Puerto Plata didn't mean his statement was only in reference to Puerto Plata or that you had to give us due diligence on Puerto Plata the city / province or the DR in general. That just happened to be the place we were when the statement came out of his mouth.

LOL. I wasn't serious in the least bit, but if you read this thread long enough you will see that it is one of the old wives tales that many here believe right along with all of the starving families and sick babies.

Of course in every society there are men who beat women, people who starve, and kids who get sick and die. But to think that these things have overtaken the DR is bullshit. And to think that the burden for remedying these situations should fall on a monger who is vacationing for a week is double bullshit. I think most people here go on vacation to have a good time and get away from problems, and not to have to shell out extra money to fix someone else's problems for them. Like the man said, when I see a bunch of skeletons laying around everywhere then I might think about buying into the starving country and the sky falling crapola.

That reminds me of a Robin Harris joke about people begging. He wouldn't give the guy any money so the guy says is that the way you want to be? I have my family at home starving. So Robin Harris says well you should go home and be with them. It's not fair; you are out here full and your family is home starving.

I don't know the age of the baby, but babies in the first year mostly need breast milk, formula, or pureed fruits and vegetables. The platter might not have been suitable to feed the baby if it was meat and plantains or something like that, and anyway she probably needed more than one feed for the baby.

Of course she might have been a scammer. Maybe there was no baby and she had 10, 000 pesos in her wallet. We can never really know.

I would guess that you probably don't work in a health care related field. Actually health and nutritional deficiencies are more subtle than that. For example Vitamin A deficiency and anemia due to poor diet with insufficient meat, eggs, and fresh vegetables can lead to problem pregnancies and further problems with children who themselves suffer from malnutrition leading to developmental problems. Unfortunately these things have to be looked at statistically over whole populations rather than on subjective data based on personal observations.

I don't think the solution is really to send money after you have heard that a child you know has died, even if that salves your conscience a bit. I think the important thing to remember is that many of us have been fortunate in life in things like educational opportunities and even just in the country we were born in and probably wouldn't have achieved whatever success we have without things like good nutrition and healthcare in childhood, including access to modern medications. I know when I was seven years old I had a severe pneumonia and would probably have died had the doctor not come to my house and given me a shot of penicillin.

This discussion could run for ever, but I think it is reasonable to contribute to the Dominican economy and people according to what you can easily afford, and not according to some kind of political theory that may could easily become an excuse for being ungenerous rather than a real belief that you are doing what is best for the person concerned.

This is far from unknown with US businesses. How often have you been casually asked if you want the worthless" extended warranty with that"? Or you download free games for children from the iStore that (you later find out) have expensive add-ons that children will want.

Or for example if you buy a used car, you may agree on a price of $3, 000. However you are now told that there is a "dealer fee" of $500 (for nothing) and a fee of $300 for processing the registration paperwork, plus $200 sales tax, so really you will have to pay $4, 000 by the time you write the check. Or look how iPhones are marketed without making it clear to the consumer how much the phone actually costs, because the price is buried in subsidies and monthly payments that conceal the actual price of the phone.

The chicas are just adapting tried and tested business techniques of offering a low initial cost to hook the customer, and then trying to add on some extras to get to the true price that allows for some profit. They should be applauded for their business school acumen, but as seasoned consumers of sexual services, we should determine how much we want to pay and how much extra we might give for superior service without getting our knickers in a twist about the morality of it all.

I recently paid a delightful young chica 1000 pesos for an encounter and when it came to time to pay up, she asked if I wouldn't give her an additional propina. I fished out a 200 peso bill and she was delighted. Since I plan to see her again I am sure that she will be pulling out all the stops to gratify my kinks, so I think the 200 pesos was well spent.

Negotiation is all part of the game and is best undertaken in a friendly spirit. In the end you will only pay what you want to spend, unless you are like the poor dope in the casino who was robbed of $15, 000 due to his own greed and ignorance.
I agree it is very common for children to be sick. And it may be equally impossible to know if the woman is lying or not. With that understood, I still don't see any justification for a monger to take on the responsibility of sending her money even if she is telling the truth. I can dig the analogy and the personal example you offered. But there is one very distinct variable that makes the issue different. You are talking about a chica right in front of you. And you are in the DR with her.

Thats not the same as a guy in his own country, with a favorita on the phone or computer trying to get something extra for her baby, and can't offer services. When they discover how to WU pussy, then I might consider the idea of negotiation in the friendly spirit you suggest. Since I have nothing to lose, and likely will have no problem enjoying a chica, I'd rather bet the 50% that the chica is lying. And take my chances. When I start seeing skeletons of children lying around some chicas apt, then I'll start feeling ashamed that I didn't send any money.

They want our money and will do their best to earn it. I have had very few problems with Girls in Sosua. I see a paranoid view from some guys here. Guys who do dumb shit sometimes get into trouble. We pick the girls and determine what we pay. The girls are at our mercy and know it. If you are picking the mafiosa chica then that is your own doing.
Lets use your theory. So when a monger is approached by a kid who lies in order to get the monger to give him money. He is being ignorant or weak too if he lets the kid take advantage of his kindness? Think about it. If you believe your ignorance or weak theory in regards to a monger being at a disadvantage, then we can apply it to hustling panhandling kids. And if I allow a kid hustle me for my money, that is my own doing too. I got it. Now you know why I don't give my money away to those kids. Or to chicas that arent earning their keep. You are making this easier than I thought.

Puerto Plata is a relatively affluent community with plenty of government jobs, supermarket jobs, hospitals, prisons, hotels, and a plethora of motoconchos. I think you would see a different picture in some of the hinterland towns and rural areas or even in the backstreet barrios of Montellano or Los Cangrejos or Sabaneta.

In any case, to really examine the issue you would have to know what is average life expectancy, what percentage of people suffer from nutritional deficiencies, etc. And in particular whether the physical and mental development of children was lagging due to nutritional issues compared to other populations. It is not always a question of just getting nutrition, but of quality too.

But you raise an interesting point. In the USA 46 million people or 15% of all US residents are on food stamps (including many children). Is the DR therefore a wealthier country than the US, or are the people just thinner? And if all 46 million recipients of food stamps had them stopped tomorrow, would many people in the US go hungry, or would they be out in the streets in large numbers hustling for whatever they can get?

Here's a bit of information I pasted in. The high level of anaemia in children under 14 is worrying and suggests that they aren't getting enough meat. This also causes problems later on when pregnant mothers are anaemic, which leads to complications of pregnancy.

    Dominican Republic

    SUMMARY

According to the results of the Demographic and health Surveys of 1991 a 1996, there has been a marked improvement of the nutritional status of children under five years of age in Dominican Republic. In 1996, the prevalence of low height for age (stunting) was 11% (in 1991, it was 19%); that of low weight for age was 6% (10% in 1991), whereas wasting (low weight for height is low (1%) and does not represent a public health problem. Levels of stunting prevalence in rural areas (15%) are twice those in urban areas (7%). The regions IV and VI are those most affected by stunting (prevalence reaches 20% of preschool children), more than three times the level found in Distrito Nacional or in the Cibao Central (6%).

Among school age children, 19% suffer from stunting at national level. The provinces with the highest prevalence rates were Bahoruco in the South, Elías Piñas and Monte Plata.

Micronutrient deficiencies, mainly iodine, vitamin A and iron, are public health problems in Dominican Republic. It is estimated that 5% of school-age children at national level have goiter, although this prevalence reaches up to 13% in region I (San Cristóbal, Peravia, Monte Plata).

The prevalence of low serum retinol (<20 µg/dL) affects 23% of children aged 1-5 years, indicating that vitamin A deficiency is a public health problem among Dominicans.

The prevalence of anemia (defined as low hemoglobin) affects 31% of children aged 1 to 14 years, with higher levels in urban areas (32%) than in rural areas (25%).

Although Dominican Republic experienced an economic crisis during the 1980s, in the following decade the country made considerable advances to stabilize the economy. Unemployment rates diminished from 27% to 20% between 1980 and 1990 and poverty was hereby greatly reduced. Food insecurity affects the most vulnerable population groups, especially young children and those regions with the highest poverty indices.

And who says that begging is not a job?

I refer you to the extraordinary case of The Man With The Twisted Lip:

    http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/etcbin...&division=div1

Synopsis for those who are short of time:

Mr. Neville St. Clair, a respectable and punctual country businessman, has disappeared. Making the matter even more mysterious is that Mrs. St. Clair is quite sure that she saw her husband at a second-floor window of the opium den, in Upper Swandam Lane, a rather rough part of town near the docks. He withdrew into the window immediately, and Mrs. St. Clair is quite sure that there was something very wrong.

Naturally, she tries to enter the building, but her way was blocked by the opium den's owner. She quickly fetches the police, but they cannot find Mr. St. Clair. The room, in whose window she saw her husband, is that of a dirty, disfigured beggar, well known to the police, by the name of Hugh Boone. The police are about to put this report down as a mistake of some kind when Mrs. St. Clair spots and identifies a box of wooden bricks that her husband said he would buy for their son. A further search turns up some of her husband's clothes. Later, his coat, with the pockets full of several pounds' worth of pennies and halfpennies, is found in the Thames just below the building.

The beggar is arrested and locked up at the police station, and Holmes initially is quite convinced that Mr. St. Clair has been the unfortunate victim of murder. However, several days after Mr. St. Clair's disappearance, his wife receives a letter in his own writing. The arrival of this letter forces Holmes to reconsider his conclusions, leading him eventually to an extraordinary solution. Taking a bath sponge to the police station in a Gladstone bag, Holmes washes Boone's still-dirty face, causing his face to be revealed — the face of Neville St. Clair! Upon Mr. St. Clair's immediate confession, this solves the mystery, and also creates a few problems.

It seems that Mr. St. Clair has been leading a double life, one of respectability, and the other as a beggar. In his youth, he had been an actor before becoming a newspaper reporter. In order to research an article, he had disguised himself as a beggar for a short time, during which he earned a very large amount of money. Later in his life, he returned to the street to beg for several days in order to pay a large debt. Given a choice between his newspaper salary and his high beggar earnings, he eventually became a professional beggar. His takings were large enough that he was able to establish himself as a country gentleman, marry well, and begin a respectable family. His wife never knew what he did for a living,
-I don't know what your story is about I didn't read it but at the beginning you say-

-the problem with shoeshine is its a dieing industry-The problem is THEY ARE HUSTLERS NOT SHOESHINE BOYS
