A packing list for the compulsive!

In addition, many people will think: "Well if a few drops is good, then a few more must be better"; that could be dangerous if your going to use it to purify drinking water.

A better, and much safer, alternative are water purification tablets. They're cheap and readily available at places like Wal-Mart, Bass-Pro, Cabela's, etc.

If you want to go the bleach route then wait till you arrive and buy it there. Bleach is cheap and readily available at just about any local grocery store. I usually do get a small bottle when I travel abroad, but not for purifying the water. I pack a small plastic spray bottle (about an 8-10 oz size one / empty) and mix about a 10% bleach / water solution. Since I don't want to get any cooties (lol) I use it to disinfect the toilet, shower / tub / jacuzzi and sink in the bathroom of the hotel as well the kitchen area if I'm renting a condo.

I live alone, and am a frequent traveler, and I always used to forget something if I was in a hurry packing.

I now have a computer list that contains everything I might need on my trip, and nothing more.

Things like a charger, a pen for all the forms, even a toothpick can be handy on a plane. Spare pair of old glasses just in case. Pick up some extra forms as you go through customs, you can fill them in before you travel.

A glance at the list a few days before might remind you to get a haircut, get some USA Small bills from the bank. Wash or replace those tattered shorts.

Also stuff to do at home before I leave like water the plant, take out the garbage, turn the thermostat up or down, clean out the old crap from the fridge.

    That sort of thing.

    Obsessive? Or just being practical.

I think it is not quite that, but something similar. The ocean steering currents nearly always take hurricanes to the south of Hispaniola, and then the high mountain ranges stop them from turning north over land, at least to the point that the eye of the hurricane does not pass over the north coast, though there may still be high winds and torrential rain, depending on the overall size of the hurricane, that can cause flooding, trees falling, knocking out bridges, etc. And other kinds of potentially lethal damage. Fortunately the DR does not have the large number of mobile home parks that makes Florida particularly vulnerable to hurricane damage, though flying tin roofs can become pretty lethal in high winds. If you are in a concrete building you are fairly safe. Of course in the DR you can absolutely count on the power going out--and that is just on a fine day!

I do not think that is daily buisness in sosua neighter in the whole dr, menos celoso ex novias that let their ex husband / boyfriend get murdered for a few pesos.

Once I was with a friend from me in spain on vacation. Just a buddy vacation to get drunk as much. We both had serious relationships and was not in mood to monger or anything. We was in the disco and late at night I could not find mi friend. I found him in the hotel in his bed. Not too bad.

But the next morning he could not find his cell phone.

He remebered he got harrased by a african looking puta that offered todo includo anal por buen precio in the shruberry etc. He refused. She did in the end pickpocked him. Basically she would ahve pickpocked him anyway and not fucked his John even if he wanted to. Guess his cell made the round to all native africans in spain during the night. And when he woke up with a hangover he had a 5000 euro bill from his provider.

Even without dealing with putas you can get ripped off like hell.

You never be save of any crime. But the best thing to avoid is stay at home or do not get drunk and do not give to much personal info to anyone in a foreign county.
True enough. There are always threats to tourists anywhere. (It takes money to be a tourist, right?)

It can happen in Europe, but in 8 years in Germany, I never felt a physical threat.

Poor countries, especially Latin America, have more people hunting for easy money.

In my own defense, that's why I mentioned I never go out with more than I could afford to lose.

Imagine this guy had his passport stolen. !

I travel direct to my hotel, with cash stashed away from the usual / easy locations.

My cash, cards, documents, are in the safe. I only change money as needed, and carry even less on me.

I personally, don't need a cell on the street, but a local cel with a calling card is a low-risk option.

But then, I enjoyed being "spoon-fed" women at BB, anyway. .

My skin color does not flag any attention for anyone compared to the white skins that are associated with money. Indeed I have never had bad experience anywhere, except my maiden voyage to Rome, where my passport was stolen, many many moons ago.

Interestingly, this gentleman, a nice man from around the Eastern Seaboard, asked me to go to Rumba (when I mentioned that I did not find anyone worth bringing back) to check women. Clearly you are only looking for professionals who may have more than one game to play. Any day, a regular woman, ideally young, as Sammon mentions. .

I've stopped letting girls in my room use my laptop to get online, saying that I don't own a laptop. In the Sosua kidnapping they probably knew he carried his wallet and ATM card with him regularly, from the girl. Fellas don't take these girls with you when you do banking transactions.

Also stay in a hotel with good security and responsible guards. My last trip I stayed at Garant in Boca Chica and this Haitian girl was raising hell with a guest on the property. Me and two other dudes are looking at the Haitian security guard telling him to remove the girl but he just sat there and did nothing. It made me realize that anyone could probably knock on my door and put a gun to my head and walk me to my safe very easily. Make sure that security has a history of protecting the guests and are not just there to sleep and see nothing.
Always good advice Mr G. Mongers should take heed!

I tend to make light of actually how dangerous it can be for some folks, but believe me, just as I am a "defensive" driver, I am a "defensive" monger.

I learned my mongering in my home town, and I can tell you it can be a really dangerous and seedy business here, because it is illegal. So add cops to your enemies list of ho's pimps and other criminals, Lol. . If you are ripped off, or set up for a sting, you have nobody to turn to. So to me Sosua is actually monger friendly, and by observing a few rules, I feel very, very safe there.

I don't put myself in situations where I am not in control, and breaking off with a woman can be a difficult and costly problem anywhere. It must be done right. In my main life relationships, I have always had an exit strategy, a Plan B. Otherwise you are a prisoner of circumstances beyond your control, I stay friends with 'em! (The Seinfeld Rule - It's NOT you, it's ME!)

My insurance rates are low, and my ex wife payouts were minimal, (for god sakes you guys, wait till the kids are grown!) but we know guys who have to pay through the nose to get insured, and give up half their livelihood to get free from some biatch.

Some things can be learned, but you can't teach common sense. AS P.T Barnum said, There's a sucker born every minute., and I think that should be emblazed on the DR flag, Lol

Just butting in with more unsolicited comments.

I would have spoken to the management about the guard.

If wishing to avoid problems, I might have waited til the end of my stay, but I would have raised the issue.

Your skin color may not, but you better start toning down the way you dress, and accessorize.

I am with you completely. A regular woman will teach and learn together and will be patient. Looking for paid sex at an young age is counterproductive.

The Sosua experience this time itself was a pointer. There are boundaries everywhere which stifles exploration, an important part of quality sex, not just hump and dump. Sure it takes time and other resources but boy, is it worth?

On the other hand, as Oakie (and Gogo, his post was insightful) states, we can opine as much as we want but history never teaches anything.
