The time has been hard on the women I know in the DR. I have tried to do what little I could but there are many and resources are limited. For as long as it has been, the desperation has grown and sometime it has frayed the nerves. As I tried to balance those that do not ask, those that are more demanding, I had to cut the cord with some of them.

The women feel helpless as they ask, unable to reciprocate in kind as the menfolk are far away. Today, one such woman, sent me a video on Whatsapp, unsolicited. It might be an attempt to make sure that the honeypot does not disappear, from my cynical view point but it also dawned on me that she also had a sense of honor, paying back with the only currency she has.

Thanks for this, you have whetted my appetite. Until now I have not concerned myself with persons who are against vaccination, I will now do some research into what they are saying.

Our plantation history, the media and social media, the religions, greed, and the slow demise of Public Education, have all contributed. Amazingly, those that need Government the most, be it for health or unemployment, are the first in line asking to de-fund the Government, because their leaders said so. In most other parts of the world, it is exactly the opposite. It helps to dumb down so people can be lorded over, as in feudal times.

But you forgot to mention if they are gluten-free and were not genetically modified.

Not one has come down with anything other than the common cold or flu. And that was very far and few between. I used all available means to avoid giving that poison to my children. All are fine healthy adults. Of course we didn't have the volume of drugs they hit them' with today. Fact is fellows, if you want it, take it, if you don't, don't. Great exchange of information and let's get back to mongering.

Oh, as for going to school I commonly used the religious angle to prevent them for obtaining vaccines. Sure they had a couple, like smallpox, tetanus and polio but none of the rest. Those are proven pretty safe in my opinion but none of the rest.

Thank you. I understand. Your children are your prerogative. My children did not attend public schools but fortunately I live in MA, where vaccine exemptions are very low even in public schools. My graduate degree does not qualify me to comment on ethical issues of vaccines nor for that matter the biology of it but generally I believe the doctors are sensible, intelligent and rational creatures. I also believe in the empirical veracity of science and I am thankful for the likes of Edward Jenner or Alexander Flemming!

I could not stop laughing reading the ending comments even though the subject is not exactly that funny.

I studied Chem and Math during my undergrad years so all your erudite references to Biology went over my head. Having said that, I do have to wonder though. I thought children in the US are supposed to be vaccinated against a boat load of stuff before they are allowed to attend a public (and Private) school. So the posters here, surprised that others have been vaccinated, never went to school? That may explain such questions.

Because you (referring to the militant anti-vaxxers-not you) are smarter than Doctors, know about The Conspiracy and are not a "Yes Man".

You have to learn every lesson for yourself. You need to get infected and sick (with everything a vaccine could have prevented) to get your immunity the "organic" way.

What I find most funny about these anti-vaxxers, organic, vegan gluten-free types is that they often feel the need to brand themselves with tattoos. They go to some storefront and pay thousands to have someone administer ten thousand injections of heavy metals, pigments of unknown types and sources INJECTED into the largest organ of their body. Their skin. Permanently!
