You're right about zero credibility. A "rich" American tourist is always a target, and I know that, however:

I don't know. Everyone has their own security method. I always carry a wallet in my pants though, after my childhood buddy who later became a semi-career criminal showed me how they casually "beat" the wallet out of a jacket. I presume the same method would work on a shirt pocket, too.

I have had a couple of week moments, but for that reason, I don't carry much $$ on the street. I usually where a pair of thin gym shorts underneath my pants to put money in, it has done the trick. But I forgot to do this a couple of years ago in Santo Domingo, lost some cash. Some chicas, and others, are real sneaky!

Why carry those cards in the 1st place if you don't need them? Inside Merengue and especially just out side on the street (really just about anywhere), pickpockets are always present waiting to catch their prey.

The idea isn't to stroll out the door with the mindset of being willing to accept what you can afford to lose. A better mindset is not to bring things that you don't intend to use where you are going. You can't assume you can trust people just because they interact with you, and smile in your face. I have learned through the years living abroad, is that its risky assuming a friendly smile and inviting conversation is cause to be at ease and not be aware of a potential scam or ulterior motivation behind someone's sudden interest (The short and the long game). My way is to give individuals zero credibility. Prepare for the worst in people, but be flexible enough to embrace the good when it is genuine.

Highlights:

1) It was very very hot and it rarely rained. I never went out during.

The time when the sun was high up in the sky. I also never walked the.

Center because of the fact that I did not need to go to my usual.

Made a point to drive through the center but it was a sad spectacle. I.

Around this time of year we always get a lot of gripes about the lack of action in Sosua.

Summer doldrums in August with the stifling heat. The beaches are burning. Even I took a short break back home.

Some restaurants close up for the season, not to reopen until after the hurricane season, and the number of tourists and hookers falls off sharply. But it's not permanent.

It all starts up again in November, and the complaints change to overbooking at hotels, noisy rooms and chicas who won't take less than $100.

That said, if you can stand the heat, hotels and chicas tend to be cheaper, as they compete for your business.

When you have been going th DF for many years you have sean almost everything. Sosua has few surprises but it is still a fantacy for us older guys. Getting 20 year old pussy when you are 50/60 is th fountain of youth. Vets have their own harem of go to girls who have been vetted and give great service.

Recommend it, in terms of quality, proximity and guest friendliness.
