Most "scams" are based on some element of guilt on the victims part. In both theses cases if the monger told the simple truth he would likely be admitting to a crime. Perhaps a crime that sounds worse that it seemed at the time (shaking would be described as felony assault and battery in the US too) but it's not a bald lie by the chica.
It's also very true that Dominicanas are on their home turf and may be connected to people in the system, Haitianas are at the mercy of the system and are extremely unlikely to do this.
If they don't have an uncle in policia both may cast evil spells on you using surprisingly similar magical technology.

How to avoid this stuff-be low-keyed.try to find out if anybody else has been with the girl you want to get with. Don't drink and get drunk-and me personally in bed by 11 pm ALONE.

2. Don't shake people.
3. Stick to Haitianas.
4. Make sure you have a good rapport with your bed partner.
5. Don't look for bareback with women you don't know. If you do, make sure everything is agreed on, for example is she on the pill, will you come inside or outside. Avoid coercing.
6. Make sure she leaves happy.

I guess this is the home court advantage someone alluded to earlier. If you meet a scam artist, its better to cut your loses. If you deal with enough chicas, its inevitable that you will eventually run into a confrontational situation.
The fact that its a buyers market or that you have the pesos doesn't insulate you from becoming a mark. Some guys think it will never happen to them because it never has and they're too smart to get caught in a shakedown. Maybe so, may not, who knows? After all, even the owner of Rocky's got caught up in a shakedown sometime after getting involved with a monger who was in a shakedown himself.
Keep in mind that these are those innocent little chicas that are not really putas; they are only scamming you because they need your money for pampers because pampers are very expensive in the DR.

You could just overpay and go to Passions, and not worry about anything!

In the last 36 hrs, I have personally witnessed two shake-downs of tourist mongers by a combination of Dominican puta / policia / fiscal.
Case #1.
Tourist takes Dominican puta to the room and states beforehand that he does not want any sex because of too much alcohol. Puta asks to just be allowed to sleep by his side. Tourist wakes up after doozing off, and notices that puta is dressed and RDP 1, 500 are missing. He physically shakes her, she returns the money, they go downstairs to the hotel bar, have a drink, declare the matter settled, and make peace. Afterwards back to the room for a good nights sleep.
Next morning the puta files a complaint with the police, and Policia Nacional shows up with an arrest warrant shortly after 10 am. Tourist monger gets released 4 h later and after paying a combined RDP 60, 000 to all involved.
Case #2.
Tourist monger sessions with a different Dominican puta. Puta claims loudly, on the sidewalk that guy wanted sex w / o condom and that he physically attacked her. Meanwhile dude sits in adjacent restaurant with a beer rather than increasing the distance between him and her. Politur shows up and arrests him on the spot on a Sunday afternoon (!). He is now spending the night in the Sosua jail until the fiscal opens on Monday morning and reviews the case.
I bet a Grande Presidente that the monetary damage will be on the order of that in case #1. Plus, who needs this stress on a vacation.

Man, you always remember the weird shit I say. But I will take ownership of it LOL. When we were kids, some kind of competitive sports was going on if it was more than two of us. From basketball in the alley in a trash can, to "chase" a game where the older boys would chase you and if they caught you the price to pay was a knuckle punch to the legs. Football, slap-boxing etc. We just couldn't post up and do nothing.
The Dominicans call it the "Dominican way", which means don't make plans and don't worry about nothing. Momma will cook a meal. Girlfriend will pay the rent, and there isn't child support enforcement to worry about. Shit, now that I think about it not a bad deal.
