I had a steak at terra linda and it was pretty decent considering where I was. If by chance I was ever in Sosua (which I do not foresee) I would eat there again.

Posts: 1948Mr. Turgid simply entered into the fray of a long running debate that will never be resolved among the parties involved.
I personally don't give a fuck about what any of you think of Sosua (positive or negative). But, I know that my opinion of the place does not invalidate anyone else's experiences or opinions. Unfortunately, the parties on both sides don't get that. What I care about is 1) Sharing of factual information 2) Experiences of others. I really only care about opinions of people I know and trust. Put me in the positive camp. I've been to Sosua one time and I loved it. So that would make me a newbie to Sosua who had a good time. But I also haven't been back.
What baffles me is why people who like other places better insist on posting about it in this forum and claiming that anyone who happens to like Sosua has to be someone that has no experience elsewhere. From the posts that I have read it appears that perspective is dead wrong. But it's not the first time I read that particular reasoning being expressed here by the same individual. But I doubt that anyone in the critical crew will ever change the type of input they consistantly provide here.

Now if you don't know this from personal experience coming to Sosua, then perhaps you should not be so judgemental towards others who happen to share their experience / perspective even if it is different than your own. And again, I stress the importance of good communication, by seeking feedback for understanding and clarity before blasting people. A skill set not used enough. BTW we are well aware of the norms, and nobody is in dispute of that. Just stick to the meat and potatoes of what is being addressed here.

Posts: 3050Are these percentages accurate, CP? If so, that explains a lot including PI and other third worlds. If anyone has any sources on this I'd love to read it. Thanks. Cheers.

So I read the negative stories here about the dead times in Sosua, smelly, skanky, rip off hoes, the no shows, the bait and switch artists, the drama queens, and even guys who lose their gold chains, laptops an IPhone.
Then I Iook at my own experience.
Why does this stuff never happen to me and my friends?
Let's see!
First, hygiene.
I wouldn't go online or read ads to find a hoe. Arranging to meet a complete stranger in a different city, sounds like a stressful crapshoot to me. I like to see them standing, functioning in public, clean and smelling fresh. Are they happy or depressed?
Second, trustworthiness.
Since there's really no way to know for sure, I generally only go with women I have been introduced to by people I know and trust, and yes, this includes some hoes. This is of course, is much easier for a regular visitor, or a resident. It's a poor regular or resident that does not build up some kind of a rapport with locals who live and work there. I need the chica who cleans my place and does the laundry, the chico who lugs that water bottle to me place, my barber, my phone guy, my MC guy, my taxi guy, my 2 or 3 favorite bartenders. I don't see how you can survive down there normally without some local network. They all have extended family, "cousins" and some of them are in the P4 P business, on way or another.
Third, pricing.
You want to stick to a sustainable budget, but you know you'll never get a great steak for 150 pesos, or a large Bailey's Special pizza at the same price as the hole in the wall.
Same with women. You need to eat every day, but once in a while, or on a special occasion, you may want to forget the McHappyMeal, and go for the Happy Hour Meal (Steak AND Lobster) .
P4 P sex is a business, like any other, and the best outcomes are always when the customer AND the provider are satisfied. I've seen newbies underestimate the poor hoes and try to game the system, but it seldom works, and he's likely not coming back anyway. Most likely it is the newbie that gets gamed. A lot of hoes do get stiffed by johns, so some do get embittered. (Johns, contrary to some of the "legends in their own mind" are not known for being the most ethical and upstanding citizens) (These are usually the ones who brag about having hoes lined up begging them to fuck them for free) See also my note on gringo "no shows", below.
You don't need to make local enemies in a small town, unless you are prepared to leave or give the place a wide berth! .
Fourth, Safety.
Observe the points above, and you will have friendly "eyes" looking out for you, especially if you spend your dinero in the same places with the same people, and not always be trying to beat them down on price. You should know what normal prices are by now.
Dress down, or up, like a local, don't wear expensive jewelry and look like you just got off the plane. I walk down some dark alleys to get back to my place, but I try to look like a guy who's comfortable enough and savvy enough not to carry cash, jewellery and IPhone with me through there.
Don't look like easy pickings. And NEVER get drunk in public, or with strangers.
Again, don't make enemies, or be a drama queen, or get known to the local cops.
Fifth, a 5 or a 10?
We all have different ideas on sexual chemistry so you are on your own here. Go to youTube and Google images and enter "Sosua Nightlife" If you don't like the type of women you see there, why waste your money? Go somewhere else! If you prefer Asians or Brazilians don't complain about Sosua!
I grew up in the Playboy days where I saw photos of beautiful women who drove me nuts. I would always tune into Miss World and Miss Universe to see the epitome of beauty, the various Miss Latin Americas. Always figured, one day!
Well this Island has them, but you won't find them on the street, unless they are brand new and haven't figured out the business yet.
My local friends who know what I like and they can connect me.
So where's this leave the newbie who has no connections?
Well I was a newbie too, but my very first night here and the couple people I met convinced me that this is a place I want to be. I started planting some seeds, and they turned into trees 9 years later!
If you can get that feeling, you'll find that like the 3 Blind Men and the Elephant, Sosua is largely what you make of it.
Common sense! Be guarded but friendly, firm, don't try to outsmart the gamers, move on.
With the street and bar ladies, it's simple, take enough time to check them out, before taking a stranger back to your room where you keep your shit. Make sure you are comfortable with your exit strategy. Pay for what you get when you get it, and never, ever make promises, like later, or manana, or next time. Each transaction should stand on it's own.
If seen girls crying because they came in from out of town, with hair and nails done, a new dress, and even Momma and the family back home preparing an expensive (for them) meal because a gringo promised he would visit her home next Sunday, and never showed up.
Lastly, Town "dead"
Rememeber Sosua has high seasons and low seasons, hurricane seasons and rainy seasons. Local religious holidays and closings, Holy Weeks. Superbowl weekends. Sometimes it's a sausage fest, but sometimes a hungry chica with bambina at home or in debt, will do you for 500 pesos, even lunch!
Don't pick the worst time to visit. You don't go to Florida in August, right?
Hope this helps, but, as usual, it's only IMHO, and of course, as always YMMV.

Of the places you've mentioned Colombia is the only one I haven't been to yet (shame, I know, but it's next on the list), and while all these places can be great, they all (again, maybe except Colombia) have issues.
1. Manila (AC) is far, far away, and, sans a couple of neighborhoods, it's a beachless dump. I'm not even going to comment on AC. Sorry, but it's true.
2. Germany is far away, it's beachless, and 2-3 times more expensive.
3. Brazil is also far away, and while I absolutely love Rio, it's a bustling metropolis and not everyone's cup of tea.
Sosua, on the other hand, is just 3 hours away from NY. Yes, it's a dump, but it has great and affordable accommodations, a very nice beach, some lovely tourist sights nearby, and all the pussy you can handle. Seriously, as lazy as I am, all I need is to show up at Classico where there is no shortage of girls from 6 to 9 for my enjoyment.
Maybe Cartagena is better, but from what I've read the beach is not very nice. We'll see.

By the way, when I met with Gogo last week in Sosua, he told me you were around which was a surprise as I thought you had packed and gone home for the holidays. I had a drink with him shooting breeze at the Cuban bar one evening. Had a good time, same with Pooter in Pto Pta, meeting for a meal.

I read several post referring to the website Tagged to set up meetings prior to arrival in Sosua. I made an account and cannot seem to find the females others indicate write in droves. Is there a secret to the success? Thanks.

Now it's somebody else's turn. Time for me to relax and take what's left of my meagre income and make it last! I want to take it where I get the best value!
I'm not proud of exploiting third world poverty, but after all they do proposition me.
I treat them well and they treat me well. I have no guilt.
I'm not sure about regulations down here, because the government is apparently not aware of my presence, so I don't get calls except from chicas and friends.
And there's no mail here, that I am aware of.
But when I went home for Christmas after being away for a couple of weeks, my mailbox was crammed full of tax bills, various demands, reminders, renewal notices, and if you don't empty it every day, I'm sure you would cause a government shutdowwn, or even end up in jail.
Aside from the Arctic weather, a big relief is to get away from the politics! The bitter cold, they say, signals runaway global warming, and apparently, Russian spies have taken over the White House!
You might say I'm happy here!
Then there are the women!
