I have read the Cuban thread and can say you will enjoy the ease of Sosua. There will not be any issue that require you to sneak around and even better the girls chase you. The biggest issue is deciding which pretty girl to chose. Everything in the town is chica friendly and there is a beach. The night life is centered around to main dance clubs. Rumbas is the hot spot for girls from about 5 to 10 with Classicos for more late night action. This is point and click action. So just relax and prepare to have the time of your life. Read the forum for things to watch out for. There are some girls who will try to get over on you but they are easy to avoid.

One last thing. There are many great places eat. Baileys is a 1st class eating spot for me. The fish and pizza are my favorites.

Unless you stay at one of the resorts in Sosua, almost every hotel is very chica friendly. Casa Cayena is excellent, slightly higher than many other places, but breakfast and dinner are included. Hotel Plaza Europa is also excellent, it's a short walk from the action, but rooms are spacious and clean. Sosua Suites is another option. The rooms are clean, but could use some updates. The good and bad is it's located practically next door to the action. That means you're 3 minutes away from your bed when you pick up a girl, but it means you're going to be hearing a lot of noise for most of the night.

Sosua is a small town, almost anywhere you stay is within a 10 minute walk of anywhere you want to go.

I have been reading and getting to know the norms and routines in Sousa but I definitely need some help on a March trip. Kindly note I do help and I have written my reports on Cuba and will be doing the same.

- It seems hotels are off limits for chicas? Would some hotels allow them? If so which ones?

- If you would suggest apartments / casas would you please recommend some chica friendly ones with good food and clubs around? (flight only option).

Helping the lady to like you is huge. I dance and flirt before I pull the trigger for my best results. It is possible to have a repore with the ladies. Patients is a great skill for having a good time. Often we are so anxious we break all the rules. First day I go a little nuts. Now I fly into SD because it is cheaper flight by $200. Then Sosua and more time options. I meet one of my best girls which guarantees a great start to my vacation. Next morning I am on metrobus heading for Sosua.

You should just offer what you want to pay. There are various ways to approach this. You can decide what is the maximum you are willing to pay, then try to strike deals with girls until you find one who will go with you for the price you want. Or you could decide first which is the most attractive girl (to you) on the scene that evening and then find out the least she would be prepared to accept by a process of negotiation. These things will vary according to many factors, some of which you may know about and some of which you will never know about. Anyway, it is a good idea to conduct all negotiations in a friendly spirit and not to try to demean the girl. If you don't succeed in striking a bargain, things might work out differently with the same girl or her friend the next day, so it is best not to burn your bridges.

2500 pesos is the equivalent of less than US $60 so not a huge amount of money for personal services of this kind. You can probably negotiate for less, especially if she likes you, but if it doesn't work, then don't lose any sleep over it. Just move on.

You should simply counter offer with 1000 pesos (bronze level) and settle somewhere in between, maybe just south of the average of the two numbers.

Remember, these chicas aren't so dumb to know, you can go down on price, you can never go up so they start at the very very top.

Remember that the best outcome of a negotiation is a win-win, where both parties are reasonably satisfied.

A "good" negotiation is not necessarily where you have got her down to some lower price than she normally gets. You might pay in hurried service, even a flip, or some other rip off.

It is good business practice (even an art) to strike a deal that is optimal for both.

Sounds like the mongers picking up girls from the street will benefit from this if it is true.

The Haitian asking you for 2,500 pesos must of thought you where a sucker and found out otherwise in a hurry.

Hated topic of pricing. You have no idea if there will be chemistry between you and her. Offer her to cover a bus ride, and invite for a lunch at the beach. Couple of days means no long term chance for her. While some may slip a thousand peso note later for a salon, you better be ready to five-six fold of it. Let her know you would send her back promptly if she gets lazy or starts playing tricks. Let her know you would become a frequent visitor to the island and are looking for a 'novia'. Good luck.

Without getting into the weeds, most satisfactory GFE results from sussessful TLN, which results from successful ST, which results from extensive test driving of different models. By that time you at least know a little bit about her habits, the sex is good, and the price is right.

Logistics and things:

Sosua IS NOT dried up, as some would have you believe. There are still plenty of girls available. Some were asking for 2000/2500 for short time, but many were still going with 1500. It is still a buyer's market.

I love the women and they seem to love my pesos, so I will return!

Looking for suggestions. I will be flying from Haiti to la Isabela early February. Right now there does not seem to be rental cars at the airport. I will have to take a cab to a car rental place then rent one way to drop off at POP. If anyone has suggestions please let me know. Their are 2 of us traveling together.

My trips to Sosua always involve two shopping trips, the first one always to Playera to pick up toiletries. Then on Thursday we head out to Puerto Plata to hit Jimanez and La Serena.

Always by publico (I get to sit beside the driver) Mi chica can find a publico anywhere she goes, or will send a motoconcho to get one. The fare is just a few pesos, and great value compared to a dedicated taxi. It does take the scenic route sometimes through La Union and even into the airport gate.

Jimanez is good for shoes and La Serena is good for "the gift",

Logistics and things:

Flight:

Flight was out of SAN to POP on AA for $750 and change. Flights were pretty much on time and with no issues. I really hate the red eye flight, especially topped with the 6 hour layover in Miami. This time I got into Miami early and stayed at the airport hotel for the night; the hotel sucked! I'm back to rethinking my layover options.

Hotel:

For the sixth time, I stayed at Casa Cayena. Wilfried met me at the airport; as usual. He had hip surgery on one hip in October and will have surgery on the other in January. He seems to be feeling well. Wilfried is still offering breakfast and dinner included in the room rate. I only ate breakfast there twice, but I did have dinner on four nights. Room security was never an issue. I left out my laptop and surface pad daily without any issues. The entire staff is professional and overall outstanding. I will continue to stay there.

Money:

I got lazy and just exchanged money at the hotel, the rate was 43 to 1 change. The rest of the time I abused the ATM machines and vice-versa.

Cell Phone:

I went back to Orange and my SIM card was not valid from last May. I changed up to Claro, put 300 pesos of minutes on the card, which was plenty enough.

Food:

Besides eating at Casa Cayena, I ate at other spots. I had the ribs at the Scandinavian place on the beach. They were the best ribs I've ever had in Sosua! Also the steak tenderloin with peppercorn sauce was outstanding! I had that 3 times during my stay. BTW, Tom the owner has lung cancer and I hope the best for him! I also ate at several food tray places, like at Rumba's and a couple down the road; all were very good.

The Beach:

Because Herman's was closed, I started hanging out at the Scandinavian place and Carolinas. I saw very few cops and a good amount of working girls walking up and down the beach.

The Clubs:

Rumba still had the best game in town; but the girls came out later than usual. The club was full just about every night. Classicos was open, but did not go in the place this trip. The new after spot is Club X, across the street from Classicos, stopped in there a couple of times; nice place.

Women:

It really helped to have established contacts. As soon as I returned to my hotel from Claro, one of my FB girls was standing outside the hotel. I spent some time with a few new girls, but also some time with my previous girls. Sosua IS NOT dried up, as some would have you believe. There are still plenty of girls available. Some were asking for 2000/2500 for short time, but many were still going with 1500. It is still a buyer's market.

Final thoughts:

This was my 17th trip in 6 years and I watched this place with its ups and downs. Some places are closed while enough places are still open to provide a good assortment of chicas. Friday and Saturday nights were off the hook concerning the number of women that were available. This place still is one of the best values in the world, and also, if you make connections, it is a great place to come back to on a regular basis. I love the women and they seem to love my pesos, so I will return!

I forgot to mention a problem I had with my bank card.

I've always advocated Canadians using an ATM card for fast and economical pesos. But the last couple of times I have come back and looked at my statements I seem to be taking out more that I thought I was. This time I kept track of my withdrawals through online banking with my laptop.

Sure enough, my closest location, the Scotiabank ATM in the pharmacy near the Texaco was always broken and never did dispense money even though I tried a few times. It is always empty or broken, but works often enough to save a little time going up to Populaire and the others.

Bottom line. It screwed me out of a few hundred dollars in the first couple of days. I called my bank and they said I would have to go intio a dispute process when I got back, and I haven't had time to do that yet.

I did take some photos of the machine and the location to help my claim and told the chica at the pharmacia the machine was hacked, but she shrugged her shoulders.

Interesting. I have done that trip hundreds of times but we have never detoured through La Union. Via Montellano and the airport several times. But a propina will secure most services.

The taxi cartels are very intimidating here and there are restrictions as to where publicos can go and what they can do, but they seem to have no problem with such detours.

Yep, this is the first time they took us through the little town. We picked up an airport check in guy in uniform there and took him as far as the barrier gate at the airport.

It's a sensible way to get around and only now are they trying that sort of thing here in Toronto ((Uber), but the usual vested interests are trying to keep them out. A big fight.
