Remember how deep the pockets of Bobbie and Peter were and the Dominicans switched up by jailing and exporting before shutting them down? Bourbon St. Will have the script switched on them, and they will be out of business soon.

    Very interesting

So they'll re-arrange the deck chairs, try to keep everybody happy and carry on with business as usual!

When, and if family tourism gradually takes over as the main source of local income, prostitution, although legal, could easily be virtually banned! Simply by zoning and soliciting bylaws. Ticketing hookers, and hassling mongers and bar owners.

We'll see how it all pans out, but in the meantime it's business as usual.

As far as that end of town is concerned, it's no longer a no go zone, a lot of ex pats have apartments in the area, and the new bars with customers, lights, music and Cestur patrols discourage crime. I frequently walk up and down there, sometimes late at night and feel no danger.
Thanks for the update Oakie. I haven't been down there in a while so its good to know things have changed. Maybe it will work, but it should be an interesting ride.

Wasn't Amvee having financial issues and problems with people who paid deposits? I used to walk to that end all the time to one of my hideout spots, Freds Cuba libre bar, and that area gets shady late at night.

If the Sosua we know becomes family tourist friendly will the hotels then become non chica friendly? If they shut down Rumbas that was involved as community sponsors, why wouldn't they eventually go after Amvee?

Riding a moto from the Amvee to the casino is a dark loney ride at night, walking is out of the question.

I'm sorry but I just don't trust it but we will see what happens.

I frequently walk up and down there, sometimes late at night and feel no danger. It has become a beaten track, with the Super Pollo in the area, and makes a nice change from the endless parade of hard core hookers downtown.

At the same time, you can't wander home like a drunken tourist, anywhere in Sosua, as there are always opportunists watching and waiting! The motoconcho guy is your friend!

So, as always, keep a weather eye open, and be safe!

This will be my 6th Christmas in sosua. It's always slow. But there will be some chicas around. I personally have contacts in the area. The weather is usually good and it's still better than being home. Enjoy!

OK. I remember this being asked some time ago and the answer was there really wasn't any- why would you bother -you can just go to the corner and inspect in person- however- since the mayor's crusade to clean the place up I am wondering if this alternative has popped up. Someone on DR1 was posting something that would imply it had.

If you tell her "maybe" a propina, trust me no matter if she's great or if she sucked, she's going to expect that propina at the end. I don't generally give propinas, but I will shell out an extra 100 pesos for "pasaje" usually. I think that's fair enough.
I see your point. But you miss the point, it wasn't a propina. It was exactly how much you were going to give her anyway. Look at the example. I think If we agree on a price and I tell her I will give her 100 pesos (2 dollars) extra if she adds chupa; that's not much of an incentive. That was an after the fact move.

Amen. It is all part of the game. Sometimes us mongers want to personalize the business part. It is all business.

I always wonder why some guys get bent out of shape by hookers asking for money!

Hoes don't even take it seriously themselves. They'll ask everybody, and it works often enough to make it worth their time! Just human nature.

Like car salesmen, politicians and time share pimps, they are not talking to you, only your wallet, so don't take them seriously, It's not personal!

As your return line is I am working hard to get back to you.
