Countries may take a dim look at travelers from the United States of America. I doubt simply holding a passport from there will become a liability. But could result in ALL travelers arriving from hot spots in the United States of America receiving additional medical screening. I addressed issues of medical issues involving COVID-19 and why I personally think additional medical screening for those arriving from hotspots in the United States of America (or any country for that matter) in the Politics in the Dominican Republic forum less than a month ago.

That's a pretty accurate summing up of the status here at the moment.

But just a note. While the cops are aware of the (illegal) back room activities going on at the usual spots, it's not helpful to the owners to have them publicized by name on a public board.

Thank you for that information. They didn't specify any reopening time frames for this summer season but thought I get some feedback on that place from others who might have visited in the past to see what's its like.

Today Wednesday May 20th, 2020 is supposed to be the 1st phase of businesses reopening in the DR. In Sosua I noticed the main appliance store (Pappaterra) was open. Hardware, Bldg. Construction and paint stores, open. All of the Motor Bike and Car Repair shops were open. The car wash was open. And with a 7 pm curfew in place. Each may be allowed to be open long enough to conduct business and allow their employees time to get home before curfew.

I believe the Supermercados hours of operation have extended past the previous 3 pm closure time frame. Thing is fellas, this phase one of openings has to be a success, because if anything goes wrong that spooks the health or govt officials they will revoke the phase one openings, and there won't be any phase two until it's deemed safe.

Willy is already doing a great job as new Mayor. Old broken sidewalks are being paved, abandoned lots are being leveled, and truck loads of garbage are being removed. The fire department is hosing down and disinfecting the sidewalks and streets. Now you can walk from uptown to downtown in flip flops, without getting an unwanted "Sosua Pedicure", LOL.

The Progresso bank on Pedro, near the liquor store has been closed permanently so we are stuck with the other 2 that limits withdrawals, but the liquor store is open for sidewalk business.

The P4P business is still going on by smartphone appointments, but there's little street action, except for a few die-hards.

Who wants to exchange body fluids with a stranger in these times?

Covid 19 kills but also kills stay locked! Its a great message of hope that goes out from you. It will offer a message of hope to many communities in this country.
