Bahia Boy, I just got back from ten days in the DR and agree wholeheartedly with your premis. I like to mix my time with the "nice" girls with nights with the chicas. My first nite I had a date in Santiago but the flight ran late and I was stuck in Santo Domingo so i got a chica from the Jaragua. I then spent three days in Sosua (one day with a bartendress who I don't have to pay) and then headed south again to Santiago. Two nights there with a hairstylist who wants to be my novia and on to La Capital. Pulled another from the Jaragua casino my first night after checking out Girl's House, Sky Bar and La Parada. Then got a call from a friend in Santiago who had a novia in her living room for me. I explained that I was already in SDQ and the little sweetie bussed down from Santiago to spend the night with me. Then spent the next night in Isabelito at the clubs on Espana and went back to Girl's House for one I really liked. Got another call from another amiga who had a novia for me in Santiago but that one will have to wait for the next trip. Had a date tonight with another one I met at a cafe in SDQ but had to come back home for a business emergency. And that's not counting the two in Santiago I met who agreed to dates but I couldn't find the time for or the one in San Pedro who kept calling asking when I was going to come see her.
I speak Spanish pretty well but I'm 55 and not pretty. However, I take the time to flirt and talk with bonitas that I meet in my travels and it is amazing how many respond. Other than the stylist in STI who is a good looking 37 yr old, all the others were 23-26 years old. They enjoy being shown a good time and I'm sure are shooting for the role of novia.
I'll be back in 2-3 weeks (I live in Miami) and in the interim, I keep in touch with them by IM or, at times, I'll call and show interest and/or set up a date. Just my two cents.

They're big fancy air conditioned buses with movies and you can even meet chicas in the process.
There used to be a commuter airline but it didn't have many departure times and was quite expensive too.
p.s. your destination is not named after a brass band composer, it's So-su-a.Last edited by Marc Anthony; 06-30-08 at 04:35. Reason: correction

Hey guys
I'm a newbie and it's my first time in Sosua. Here are my thoughts so far.
The weather has kind of sucked, but the chicas are looking great.... here are the problems.... so far on my hunt, I've run into 2 chicas that are asking upwards of 2,000 for ST. Now I am very respectful when I negotiate with them, but when I drop to 1000, they still stick to their 2000 and I end up politely walking away. Even for a massage with BBBJ and no CIM I was told 2000. I'm certainly not cheap but I do believe in paying fair market value and not screwing it up for the next guy. From what I understand it should be 500 to 1,000 for ST. If I were to pay what they were asking for I would be busted before my week stay is up. One was maybe a 3 and the other was a 5 maybe a 6.
It is true that this is my first time mongering as well. I am a little shy and I am solo with VERY little spanish skills (probably should have set up a wingman in hindsight), but either the prices have drastically changed in Sosua since reading the posts from last year, I have 'sucker' on my forhead or I'm the fugliest guy here... and from what I have seen, I don't think the latter is the case.
Am I on the right track wen it comes to negotiating or was I just lucky enough to get the only 2 non-negotiable ones who thought they were worth more than all ther other chicas?

There was some woman sitting at the gate, she wanted me to stop and talk, but I wouldn't. She then followed me down the street. I would not stop or acknowledge her as it was totally dark in that area. I felt that was a prime spot to get ripped off.
Also when I was there, one of the local residents where I was staying was mugged for about 1500 pesos, 9pm, and only a few blocks off of the main drag, just outside where he lived. So it does happen. Granted he was about 70 so couldn't run or do much for himself when cornered.

Posts: 161Trying to get to Sousa?
Please help! I land in santo dom. At 12:30 pm and I don't have a real (or good) plan on how I am going to get sousa. I went to the "I love sousa" site and the best I can get out of them is. Once I land, I need to take a 30. 00 cab ride to a carib tours (bus line) then take a 5 hour bus ride to sousa. Is this the way to go? Could I take a cab all the way to sousa. And what might be the cost? Or am I missing a better route, please help, as I know I have already screw myself by not flying into pop. I promise to give a day by day trip report! Thanks if you can help.

I have walked the streets there at all hours with not a threat for many years. Never a problem. Just keep your radar running and be more concerned with petty crime than actual armed robbery or physical violence.

I'm currently in Sosua. Staying at the Casa Marina and even if I enjoy the Nightlife, I sometimes feel uncomfortable walking the streets at night cause I'm here by myself. So, if anyone of you guys are currently in Sosua too, I would appreciate some company.

Posts: 59FYI sparky, I speak the language very well and I have dated women who aren't hookers. I come here for the hooker logistics but if there are guys here who need me regal them on my dating history then they can send me a PM. I don't need to come here to learn how to pick up women. Carry on, your tale was quite entertianing.
