I feel sorry for the Haitians. On the main street they were almost as safe as any other person. I often heard them complain about rumba not allowing them to come in. They had city lights which became Haitian central and a club that cater to them and their clients. Most of the clubs gave them a hard time and would not allow them entry. Current situations make it so much harder on them to see clients. Ahnvee Don't want to be labeled as a Haitian club so you know they're going to be tight on security. Only a select few are allowed a pass.

Ahnvee is not on the hit list. It is far away from Main Street and closer to entertainment area mayor envisioned. Mayor does not want Main Street crowded with chicas walking and soliciting giving a bad name to Sosua where families of tourists come in droves which has not happened in the history of Sosua. Where Ahnvee is no tourist will come except people looking for girls. However when I was there lots of police and military came daily. It is anybody's guess how much in bribes has to be paid to keep it from being hassled. Right now they are making good money. Jam packed in the evenings and on Sunday pool party in the afternoon. Hopefully they will use the money to renovate all the rooms. The room I was given after the first room offered was not good is very good. Room 404. Convenient to meet and bring in the girls although I had a rental car.

Only other club is at playa chiquita casino. Saturday there was no entry fee for any body. On Sunday they started charging entry fee selectively. Do not know how much. Generally crowd dies down at Ahnvee by 1 am and all go to playa Chiquita.

High caribe is open but not many people. Long time ago I liked it because it was very popular. Very spacious compared to cramped Main Street clubs.

If you are willing to look for it strange is easy to find. Infact they are looking for you.

I just happen to believe that everybody is looking for strange. The issue, if I understand it correctly as I read the exchanges in the forum, is about how the format, locations and ease for meeting strange in person plays is currently being changed and altered. But the constant in life is change.

Personally I just don't see what the big deal is if the sole objective is a search for strange. If you like to walk around and check out various street vendors, depending upon who you choose to listen to, it would seem that Sosua is changing somewhat in that regard. Some like it and some don't. But I haven't read any reports that prostitution has been made illegal in Republica Dominicana. But strange continues to be available if you wish to pay for it.

Well, then Matteo Pello might want to remove the ad from his Facebook page (picture attached, hopefully). But I believe you, since he's selling the contents of the old restaurant on "Best of Everything Cabarete Sosua," "La Mulata Community," and "Everything Cabarete."

I also saw in the Sosua forum on TripAdvisor that Scandinavian Beach Bar was renamed The Rehab Bar and is apparently doing well. I was sure that place was going to close permanently after Tom died.
The old Midtown location is NOT for sale. When Matteo was there he offered it for sale and found a buyer but the owner of the hotel, Matteo's landlord refused to rent the place to any potential buyers because he had a friend that wanted to put a German restaurant in there, the owner of the hotel is German. So in essence that motherfucker screwed Matteo out of $40,000. The Rehab Bar was doing very well but the owner Ken decided to close it in order to focus on his construction business Rehab Home Improvement, he is the one that "rehabbed" the old Brittania into Matteo's Seaside Pub. He did a great job. He also just renovated the old LOS Gringos in Cabarete, it is now called Danny's Pub. Ken is a good friend of mine and does great work.

    On the ground!

    My typical Friday.

PP Regular comes bearing gifts, home made soup and stuff!

A couple hours on the beach #33, and a couple cold ones! Home for shower and change, then over to the bar for a beer and to pick up a couple of our barrista friends coming off shift. They are dressed to the nines and ready to go!

In view of the changes I suggested we all head up to Ahmee to see what's cooking! ID's all checked at the gate, and a series of very attentive and cheerful chicos ushered us around to a nice table!

The place is huge! Could fit 4 Rumbas into it around a beautiful pool setting. It was early when we got there, around 7, but the place was full of chicas in full dress gear! Some I knew who joined us for a beer. A couple hours checking out the scene, and renewing acquaintances. My girls were hungry, and we weren't too impressed with it as an eating place, more like a giant, but spacious. Club/disco. Air conditioned and not claustrophobic like the old Classico. Lots of room to walk around, and some fine chicas were doing just that.

The ID and dress code kept out the hardcore hookers, so no 500 peso BJ's in the bathroom, for cheap mongers. LOL.

All in all, very civilized, and if my buddy's wife lets him come down to visit, I know one guy who will find it much to his liking!

So we bid farewell and hopped MC's to downtown where we had a great meal and listened to a band. Mixed wine with the beers I'd had earlier which didn't agree with me much, so cut the girls loose, and me and GF walked back to our beautiful air conditioned love nest with the fresh crisp clean sheets!

Maybe not for everybody, but for us, a great night! (and also got to make a mental note of a couple more future possible contacts LOL).

Nah. This feels different bruh. I was just there in Oct. The old days won't be back bruh.

But I agree the sky isn't falling. Veterans warned me years ago this wouldn't last. Those that have contacts, speak some Spanish and can move around will continue to enjoy the island. The classico vip crew, dudes who don't like to travel solo will go away. I'm not worried. I just find it interesting.

What I can tell you is big changes are coming to Sosua, the orders of "cleansing" is coming from Santo Domingo, the mayor is just a pawn in all of this. If you don't think that big change along with big money is coming just go down to playa Sosua and look at the hundreds of feet of new fencing being constructed along the full length of the beach. The Dominican family that owns the land between the beach shacks and the highway has sold to foreign investors and they intend on building condos and a hotel etc. On that land, the beach shacks are there illegally and will be bulldozed into oblivion just like they have done to others in Encuentro and Long Beach. As many of you know Marriott has licensed three new high end luxury hotels on the north shore, the old Ganservort is currently under renovation, another is in Cabarete, I can't remember the exact location and a Ritz Carlton is to be built at La Boca. It is rumored that Hilton is soon to announce something in Sosua but I'm not holding my breath. The closing of the bars in Sosua may be permanent this time in my opinion, Kings / Rumbas is relocating down the street after going to court and being told that there was no way he could reopen at the current location, they should be open soon at the old Mora Mai location. There are many moving parts to all of this. Willie is building a huge entertainment complex in Puerto Plata, not Sosua, that should tell you something also. I went to the new disco in Ahnvee for about ten minutes last week,200 girls in there easily so if that's your thing then have at it. I have to put a plug in for my good friend Matteo and his new bar / restaurant at the old Brittania location, he did a great job and we've had a lot of fun hanging out watching football and just watching the goings on in the street, I can't wait to get back in January, Sosua lives it just lives differently and will live much differently in the future, I'm okay with most of it because I am not a weekend warrior and have a phone full of Puerto Plata Facebook "friends" who are more than willing to jump in a carrito and visit me.
