PS: Damn, just saw Racshack's post about 200 arrests........ not seen that scale of crackdown either, However, since prostitution is legal, it should not affect my ability to call a chica to my hotel room, right?
Their was at least 200 girls around last night, not all girls were arrested, but they did grad a bunch, and as result many many girls went running, it ruined the good party seen that was happening, could not believe how many hot chicks were here last night!

Sorry not all the girls, I seen at least 15-20 taken away, but ruined the party, seen much much girls went running away, that was like 1 am then around 3 am multi-able rounds of gun fire on main road when people leaving beach.

For most part was enough girls around all week to make for good time.

I was referring to the latest closures in Sosua.

Unlike you, I have no fixed party in the DR but the whole island is a great play ground. That said, there is certainly something to be said for people you have built a relationship with and who like the idea of seeing you again and the sex is typically way superior. This stands in sharp contrast to the Sosua overnight pick ups.

Personally, and I have stated this unabashedly over my time here, I have loved Sosua (and the DR) since my first trip and though I have not picked up anyone from the bars in the last several years, and so do not care about the bars at all, I enjoy the place, the food in particular and the "let your hair down, all women are approachable" ambiance.

I can not find the post that referred to 200 arrests.

Is there a link to the 200 arrest story? Who and why?

Exactamente amigo, when there get a DR phone and the chicas will come to you. Also using wassap on your American phone can keep you in contact with girls who are mobile. I have two guys on the scene from this board reporting to me on the back channels and both talk about the crackdown in effect but they are still having a ball. To quote one guy "The girls are hungry".

Also here is a report about the crackdown:

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. -Justice minister Francisco Dominguez on Tuesday said his prosecutors and other authorities decidedly confront the prostitution affecting the North Coast, especially Sosua township.

He said the authorities have a new strategy to deal with prostitution involving Dominicans and foreigners in Sosúa, in coordination with the Tourism and Interior and Police ministries.

Dominguez said over several months Sosúa business leaders and representatives from social organizations have expressed concern about the increasing presence of sex workers on the streets of the town, so much so that it has affected family tourism in the entire North Coast.

The official said several businesses have shuttered in Sosúa during his tenure but acknowledged that this practice remains latent in the streets, despite the efforts.

I'm probably the Number One fan of Sosua.

In 9 years and some scores of trips, I've never posted a bad review, because I've never had a bad vacation. I've had a regular novia down there for exactly the same amount of time, (I met her on my first night) although I sometimes get down there a few days early without telling her.

If I stay away from our mutual haunts I sometimes can get a couple days of mongering in before she finds out through our friends that I am in town and jumps on the bus, with that crazy bag that contains a week's supply of day clothes, and evening wear fit for any occasion.

She knows where I'll be, and although I act like I'm trying to avoid her, she knows I'm honestly happy to see her happy, smiling, and enthusiastic face, and whoever I'm temporarily with gets the boot. One thing we have never done is put anyone else first, and it keeps the fantasy going.

We have traveled all over the Island together and stayed in some pretty crude places together, and there's no one I'd rather travel with. I know her friends and her extended family well, and she has shown me the real DR. (Incidentally we have a great understanding, I honestly haven't sent her a cent in the last year)..

So, you are critical of people who travel to Sosua and then file a trip report expressing an unfavorable opinion of the place because personally you like it. Didn't you write that you don't find the women of Sosua to be attractive? I personally appreciate having the opportunity read a diversity of reviews about a place. Nothing in this life is all good or all bad. The Kia owner does not have to be critical of the BMW owner because the BMW owner test drove a Kia and didn't like it.

I do not know where it fits in, I guess it doesn't I was just looking for any information since I would be close. Maybe there is a place in Sosua that's worth the taxi ride. But maybe not then.

    Weekend influx

Rumbas has been closed the last two nights, as others reported, and the girls can't stand out on the street. Previously there would be about 50 girls lining the sidewalks all night long. Classicos disco was full last night, and downstairs was pretty full. A couple of the girls I know went to Cabarete, but others stayed in Sosua and they said they had no trouble from the police to go into a bar. Classicos did seem to have a lot more guys last night (Saturday), and the girls wanted more. (one home-looking one demanded 200 US, WTF? I pulled a cutie for 1500, though, with no complaints. This morning two phone / whatsapp girls I contacted for afternoon sessions turned down 1500, wanting 3000. Maybe there is the weekend bump in prices.

I can "communicate", thank you, I have "diversified" thank you, and I spend as much time "outside" of Sosua as in it, thank you. I'm not a WU Novio, thank you! Don't need Classico, don't need Rhumba, don't need zombie street hoes. Don't need Viagra. Thank you all!

I don't need to change a thing, but don't let the door hit you when y'all "move on". LOL.

My purpose here is simply to let newbies know what is possible, as a few of the more positive vets here did for me when I was new. It really did change my life.

    It's called giving back.
I agree with this. For many people Sosua has offered wonderful experiences over the years. If you are a middle aged man, exactly how many resort places are there that you can go on your own make new friends and lovers, eat well, experience a foreign culture, mostly good weather, get affordable dental or medical treatment, and have a great time with attractive young women positively seeking out your company, especially in the US?

I think that is why those of us who have been around Sosua over the years, or lived in the area, get rather critical of people who show up and instantly denounce the place and say that they are on the next flight out, and feel deceived by the good reports of Sosua that they have read online and give simplistic reasons like "all the women I saw were fat" without really revealing anything more about why they traveled to Sosua, what they expected to find, how much effort they made to locate non-fat women, and so on.

The other elephant in the room that is rarely discussed here is how attractive to women those potential mongers were in the first place. The truth is that if you were were reasonably successful as an amateur, you will probably have more success with pros, but if you were a complete failure in your amateur career, there might be something about you that is unattractive to women.

Having said that, I will also say that mongering is something that quickly gets old after a few trips, and that one has to move on and branch out, as Oakie says. Quite frankly I personally do not find the vast majority of women hanging out in Sosua attractive, but I have never found it hard to find one or two that I would like to get to know better--and really that is all you need.

I'll be there from the 17th to 27th. I am there also for Dental work in Santiago. I plan to use the bus system for the 2 trips back and forth to the dentist in Santiago, I was told by the dentist that it was very cheap compared to a taxi. I heard they have Uber now? True? Any experienced mongers that can offer advice in finding sweet little senoritas to comfort my pains will be very appreciated.
I agree with the other post that if you are staying at BB, girls will not be your problem. Since you have been to their website to reserve rooms, suggest you sign up for their newsletter to get a better idea of the operation. There are usually more than a dozen there in two different shifts, waiting to get a client's attention.

Buses from Puerto Plata to Santiago are indeed cheap. Your only expense will be getting from BB to the POP bus station. The cabbies in Costambar are notorious price gougers.

Not sure what your arrival transportation is, but if a cabbie sent by BB, ask about the fare from BB to the POP bus station.

The process will be repeated in Santiago, so allow plenty of travel time for your appointments. The Caribe Tours bus schedules are available online.

It will probably take several days to get bored with easily accessible sex with a variety of women, but it will happen eventually. There is a small beach in Costambar, just 5 minutes walk from BB. Very quiet during the week, good place to rent a lounger, buy a beer, smoke a cigar in the shade, and watch the sea. You can split cab fare with your buddy to go to Puerto Plata. The Malecon, or seaside promenade is nothing special, but on the west side, there is a reconstructed Spanish fort from about the 16th century. There is often a local guide there, for just a dollar or two. At the hotel, ask about some of the activities available in cooperation with other ventures. Ask about the cable car just outside Puerto Plata. On some of these trips, consider inviting one of the girls whose company you particularly enjoy, to accompany you as your guide. Makes things easier sometimes, since they know the ropes, etc.
Oh, and since you seem to be totally new to this, the best place to change dollars is at Jenny's the small grocery just inside the gates of Costambar. As your cab enters, it will be on your right. Can't miss it. The pharmacy across the street sells the Dominican version of Cialis, called La Pela at very low prices.
