I have read 500 post on dr1 pertaining to the subject of visas and so forth and have not got the answer I need. I realize that you can get a 60 day visa but it seems it might be easier to go to Puerto Rico or Haiti for purposes of leaving to re enter. The thing I want to know do you have to stay across the board for a certain amount of time or is it a half day thing and you back. I know some of you guys have the answer Thanks in advance.

The initial $10 you pay upon entering the country gives you the right to stay for 30 days. If you exceed that limit you pay extra. Since November last, the fees have increased significantly. The escalating rates are posted on every counter in the immigration area. When you leave the country, the clock is reset. You are free to return any time you want. As an example, over 3 months but less than 4 is about 4000 pesos. Ten years will set you back 70,000. There is a counter in the far right where you pay and the info will appear in the other agents monitors who will stamp your passport. Last time I left, Feb. 27th, there were some computer glitches in the new installed procedure but it should be running fine now.

I have rented a car 2 out of 3 times I have been to DR. Overall I benefited from renting one but I have heard horror stories about the incidents when you get into an accident. Being in DR you will be the one at fault. Good target for locals, police, their relatives, neighbors, pets, dogs, and chickens to extract money from you.

It is easy to rent a car. In your case a van is better so that you can pack your friends and chicas. Personally I always rent a car. Why you ask? I do not confine myself to Sosua mongering. Never sat on the back of a sweaty smelly guy, s back. Some of the cabs are beat up and you will have a problem if it conks.

With the freedom of your personal car you can go anywhere. If you are used to major cities driving in US you should be fine. I go to cabarets discos, puerto plata bars, BB etc. Even when I park in Sosua I tip the guy there 50 pesos and he makes sure the car is fine. I have picked up chicks on the road, have stopped by local watering holes. You will be surprised how friendly local guy, s are. One lady even suggested me taking her daughter.

If you are into sightseeing nicer to have a car. Take some chicks with you. I have done this in Costa Rica as well with visits Arenal, rain forest tour etc. Have even gone to Chicas houses in DR.

Just curious why do you need a car in downtown Sosua. The place is so small and everything is walking distance. The lady had really nice lips. I will be on the ground in 30 days. I had reserved a room at the D, Pierro but when I went there and looked at the room did not like it at all. Very small with bed filling the whole room. Refused the room and they showed me one of the apartments on ground floor. The hotel is on a side street and I did not feel safe parking the car there although the they said they have security cameras there.

Next stop is Europa. They had one room and wanted me to come back after 4 pm. Went to Casa cayena and they gave me a nice room. Room is spacious and clean. Only issue is they give only 3 towels. With all the showering going on I wished they would give more. Went to supermarket and stocked essentials like water, beer and snacks.

How did you get $120 ticket? I fly from ft Lauderdale to santo domingo and I never saw such a low round trip ticket price.

The flight was on sale for $240. But my Travel budding gave me some miles to get it down to $120.
