There are 3 toll booths totalling around 400 pesos (actually less I think.).

Kool you fly out of Atlanta I think. I can't seem to find that deal. Where are you flying out of. I thought only those Upstate fellows DC and above have those prices.

I fly directly to POP east coast for $275 one way on american arrive at 230. Return trip from POP is pricey so I fly back on another airline out of Santiago or SD both have good pricing and time options.

Kool you fly out of Atlanta I think. I can't seem to find that deal. Where are you flying out of. I thought only those Upstate fellows DC and above have those prices.

Thanks for your input. I noticed you mentioned arriving from Santo Domingo in three hours. Did you by chance rent a car or take the bus? This forum has piqued my interest in Sousa. And now thanks to Spirit Airlines, I can fly inexpensively to the DR, either to SDO or STI. Forget about flying direct to POP on the major airlines, because from where I live the cost is barely $100 cheaper than flying to Thailand. (Really, its like $700 to POP with two connections and $800 to BKK with one connection). I noticed the Metro buses make decent time to Sousa from either Santiago or Santo Domingo. So does anyone have a preference? The important thing I noticed is that Spirit drops you off in STI at 2 AM and in SDO around 3 PM. That seems to give SDO an advantage from a logistics standpoint, even if Santiago is closer. Any suggestions on making the best use of my time, or transport options?

Actually I came from the Boca Chica area and I rented a car. I counted the time from the point of me headed towards semana. If you have plans to take a bus to your destination. I will fly into Santiago if I'm going to sosua. Or take car for the hour and a half Drive. I would take a bus only if I can get there by the afternoon. A lot of flights come in red eye from my location. Arriving in Santiago after 7 can be a problem. The last bus leaves at 9 headed towards the Sue. A cab can run you between 75 + 125. But it's worth it if you're short on time. If I'm good on time I fly into Santo Domingo. Bus it or rent a car. Depending on my plans to the East.

I took both 4 PM and 5 PM bus and I've got off at puerto plata. Both stopped at puerto plata.

Let me clear this up for everyone. The 4 pm metro bus from SD goes all the way to Sosua as does the 7 am,11 am metro buses the other metro buses end in Puerto Plata. Carib tours leave hourly and end in Charmicos.

So do you get off at puerta plata if you take the 5 pm bus? From what I know, the 4 pm goes to sosua, not the 5 pm.

If you land at 3 pm you're probably going to miss the 4 pm bus to Sosua on Metro, but Caribe tours has a 5, 6 and 7 pm bus. Caribe drops a little ways outside of Sosua, so you'll need a cab, or a moto if you don't have much luggage.

Depending on your time in The DR you might want to stick in SD and catch the first Metro bus to Sosua in the morning.

One suggestion. Bring a light jacket for the bus. They keep the A / see cranked.

I take spirit flight from Fort Lauderdale to Santo Domingo when I visit DR. I pay around $300 which is less than half of the flight to Puerto Plata. I have a taxi driver picking me up from airport for 1300 pesos and I go straight to Metro bus station trying to catch 4 PM bus. It is express and it takes about 3. 1/2 hours to Puerto Plata. It is good bus, comfortable and good ride. Last time when I was there all seats were sold for 4 PM bus and I had to wait for 5 PM bus. But I have learnt a small trick when I was waiting for 5 PM bus. There may be available seats even if all seats were sold out. You wait next to the door to bus until 4 PM and all passengers are inside of the bus. They let other passengers into bus who are waiting to fill all available seats.
