    Close enough!

She dresses like she has just come from a disco, and calls me Santa Claus, LOL.

You are talking about mi princessa of 8 years, who swears she is madly in love with me, and is generally all I need down there.

The car deal sounds trouble free, but then there's my love of Presidente Lite. I'd need a designated driver anyway.

Taking a rental car back, always seemed to be chore to me. Gas up, wait in line to check have the car checked, finish the paper work, all that stuff. Takes time.

I figure down there they are still in the manual mode, and it does get hot.

My routine now is to have the GF pick me up and drop me off at the airport on her way back to her town. Nothing like coming through the line and seeing a smiling excited chica holding up a Presidente at that little AP bar. Let the fun begin!

Only a few weeks ago you were saying that you were meeting so many desirable partners online that you were thinking of staying in Santo Domingo and giving Sosua a miss. Now you seem to have reversed on that and decided that Santo Domingo is not worth bothering with. Care to explain the change of sentiment?

I was scammed once on a scooter and will never let that happen again.

I have driven in NY, London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Berlin and managed OK, but somehow I feel more vulnerable to rip offs in the D.R. Spend time at the main corner of Pedro Cilante and watch them face off

I also like a couple of beers, so that's the main reason I don't drive down there. I don't need to find safe parking, check for scratches and anticipate the argument about damage when returning the car. I don't want to be responsible for a car.

I usually get a "cousin" to borrow/rent/steal one if I need to get around the Island in comfort. It's cheaper, and he'll pick us up wherever and whenever we need him.

    Maybe it's age.

Driving is not really bad now that all repairs are done and importance is placed on the road between Puerto Plata and Cabarete. Dominican Republic is crowded like some other countries where all the people are on the road. Only people you need to worry about are the Motor Bike drivers who weave in and out of traffic. If you are a reasonably good driver in USA and do not get rattled easily rent a car and explore your options. Rental maybe expensive for one person. Always het the full bumper to bumper warranty which is about $30 a day in addition to rental charges.

Your ability to drive is meaningless; those other fools tho! I don't drive anywhere in DR anymore. I'll park and take a taxi. It's cheaper!

While in Sosua playing the role of sexual tourist one morning I went to breakfast. When it was time to pay the bill I realized I had left all my cash in the safe back in my hotel room. Fortunately for me they took credit / debit cards. I used mine. And I have had no problems with fraudulent charges on my account. I was having so much fun I needed more chica cash. So went to an ATM and drained my account so I could continue to drain my balls.

While in Santo Domingo I used a Popular ATM inside of an Ole. Although I didn't know this before I used it, it was a machine known for dispensing and incorrect amount of cash. Usually less than was requested. This happened to me when I used it. I contacted the bank that issued my card. They took a report. They told me that in order to remain a member in good standing of the system owners of the ATM's need to make accurate audits of their machines. They would send a request for an investigation of my transaction and if my claim was valid I would receive a credit to my account. I received my credit within 30 days without having to follow up with my bank.

Mr. GoGo drove. And although he had a few problems getting the rental vehicle initially. No problems except for crazy drivers and a political rally that blocked traffic for an hour. Nothing highly unusual for the Dominican Republic.

    Just saying.

    Credit Cards

For all the new guys who prefer or have to pay with credit cards. They are accepted in Sosua very well but when you get out of bigger areas you will have guys tell you that they take visa then when finished pumping gas they will run your card and it will say declined when you know it is good these people will then tell you where you can take cash off your card and that you can leave your wife or girl friend with them while you go get cash. I had 2 different places pull the same stuff in 1 day the 1st a gas station the 2nd a hotel. I called visa and ask if they seen any transactions being tried and they said no that probably the hotel just wanted cash and the gas station. In short when out of town take cash.

For throwing something or someone out, I'd use echar and not tirar.
