If you are looking for cheap transport and do not have big bags you can walk to the main road and catch moto or line taxi cheap. From the airport you are at the mercy of taxi mafia.

My understanding is that the Santiago airport is Southwest of Santiago, so one must go thru Santiago to get to Sosua, and that can take extra time and fare.

I would say you have to use weighted opinions. Would you put more faith in "haters" that have actually been to Sosua AND other places, or those "in their 60's" who frequent Sosua but have not been to other places?

Reminds me of my first days in Colombia when I would ask Colombians where is the the best beach. They would all say Santa Marta. So finally I went to Santa Marta and imagine my surprise when I saw how shitty the beach was. Well I quickly realized that was the best beach THEY knew. I have done my share of 3 somes in Sosua. All but 1 have been just fine. The cost has been about 7000 pesos (130 bucks) for an hour. Was this the reason for spike in pay 4 sex in the sosua and Puerto plata areas past year or two.

The Cangrejos (Crab) Bridge has been rebuilt. This means way more easier access to Puerto Plata proper and its local bars and daygame for those of us who like to wander and hunt. It cuts the previous 40 min detour that raised the taxi cost and of course time. This also works in reverse, meaning more girls from the countryside will venture into the scene via bus and taxi.
