Where have I been? I have been living in Sosua six months out of the year for the past seven years and have my ear very well glued to the ground here. I am very much aware that "Rumba's" is now Kings but 95% of mongers and residents here alike still refer to it as "Rumba's" so put that in your pipe and smoke it seņior. Guys like you have turned this forum into nothing but a shit show. Peace out, I'm going to head over to Rumba's and order up a grande.

P4P is changing around the world. There are so many places I used to have great mongering experiences in that are no more, for example, ChangPing in China, Geylang in Singapore, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Rio is not what it used to be. My best mongering of all time was in NYC in the '70's and '80's. My best mongering now is in FKKs in Germany and am spending my first winter in Germany just for that. Maxing my experience before change comes.

    Is it true

COURT ORDERS NATIONAL POLICE TO REFUSE FROM DISTURBING ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES OF HOTEL BAR CENTRAL DE SOSÚA

PUERTO PLATA.- The Judge President of the Civil and Commercial Court of the Puerto Plata Judicial District, Judge Nassín Eduardo Ovalle Estévez, by sentence, ordered the commander of the Police in the municipality Sosúa, Colonel Anicasio Guillen Guzmán, to refrain from disturbing the development of the commercial activities of the Hotel Restaurante Central located in Pedro Clisante street of that demarcation.

Judge Ovalle's ruling occurs in response to a remedy for preventive protection, filed by the legal representative of the Central Hotel, Mr. Manuel Danilo Reyes Marmolejos, who revealed that he saw the need to act legally after the aforementioned company was closed arbitrarily by the National Police, in the absence of a court order and without an express order from the Public Ministry for the use of public force, which occurred last November.

As explained by Mr. Reyes Marmolejos, the court ruled in favor of his client, understanding that one of the fundamental roles of the National Police, is to ensure compliance with laws in the country, without incurring failures that affect the law of the natural and legal persons in the Dominican Republic.

During the month of November, several institutions deployed an extensive operation to close bars and restaurants on Pedro Clisante Street in the municipality of Sosúa.

That is a good question. I was there last night and it was dead. Very few females walking by the place. The police are patroling the area frequently. Starting at Classico and working your way back to Rumba, there are only three bars open and that includes rumba). The girls are congregating at the Ahnvee and the bars near the resort. The one bar across from the Ahnvee, I think it's called NYC was decent. Mostly a dominican crowd, the music, and the talent level was nice but be careful they tried to pad my bill. I was there on a Sunday night.

Well, very respectfully to you, apparently it didn't work for the owner of Rocky's. This was posted last night in the "The Future of Sosua" thread over on the DR1 website:

    "Hi folks,

I am very sorry to report that Rocky's Rock and Blues Bar will be closing for good as of the evening of January 31st. What has been happening in Sosua has sent 95 percent of our regular clientele to greener pastures, namely, Colombia.

Milka and I have had an incredible run thanks to all of the support from everyone and beyond but we have had enough.

Please come by Friday, January 31st for our every last "All you can Eat" BBQ and say goodbye to old friends and new.

I am officially retired collecting 2 pensions from Canada so Milka, Daenerys and I will be just fine.

It has been an incredible experience meeting all of you and I'll still be around Sosua, wanting to spend time with all of you and enjoying the company of real friends.

Thank you all for an incredible 11 years at Rocky's and take care.

    Rick".

I think I remember reading on the same website, though, that Rocky's owner / management was involved in a legal dispute, which might explain the closure. Someone please correct me, if I'm wrong about that statement.

I just don't want to much separation. The Europeans are not the only people who enjoy a nice meal and glass of wine in a quiet downtown. Downtown should be for everyone who can relax, move respectfully and enjoy it. Peace.
I disagree. It will pretty much remain a party town dependent on legal prostitution for it's economy.

There are many venues, in DR and all over the Caribbean, that provide a quiet and discreet vacation, and like minded folks are flocking there, not Sosua!

Speak for yourself Olski. I hear many complaints from guys who went there recently. One Sue regular told me he started coming to Boca Chica's just because it's one of the only place left you can sit enjoy a beer and watch an active stroll.

    Never be the same.

This does not distract the family tourists who tend to ignore everything. In Thailand prostitution and go go bars are in your face wherever you go. Bars are full of girls even on islands plying their trade. Did not affect the tourism at all and in fact increasing.

But at the same time in Sosua once the changes take place it is very hard to come back to previous time. All businesses are scared and will not invest. Maintenance of bars and hotels will not take place. Everybody will just try to survive.

Almost every town has a Main Street where everything happens and people feel comfortable in that area. Moving to separate entertainment area will not entice people to go there.

It's purely cosmetic at this point. The hookers are still around, just dispersed over a wider area. But Sosua is not that big so they are all still relatively close to your hotel.

The hardcore hookers are still here, some of whom I have known for 10 years. It's still easy to pick up a chica, or even a SUV load to party with. Smart phones have replaced the "stroll".

As long as prostitution is legal in Sosua, and solicitation is not a crime, and mongers (the real problem) and their money, are welcomed, the party will continue.

Another big test is here SuperBowl weekend. Ahnvee is promising a party to end all parties, sounds like orgy central.

We'll see if it gets shut down, at some point.

Interesting, but still fun times for the punters!
