I noticed the big roaches when the Sosua Bay side was open also so this is nothing new, although I haven't seen them on the Victoria side when I've stayed there. Perhaps people are so used to it, they don't see it as an issue or eyesore? As far as mice in the rooms, I would find this bothersome. I realize this is the 3rd world, but some extermination and general maintenance would go a long way. I guess if you are there long enough, you might get used to these conditions? I certainly love the view, but not with rodents in my room.

Interesting. Back in my day, dudes were giving Haitians about a third of of Dominicans got.

Guys, thanks for keeping me up to date on the pick pockets, covered BJs, street scams, etc. I'd like to work a Sosua trip in this year, in between my travels to other destinations around the globe, so its good to know what folks are experiencing, even if it is a general decline in the environment. As a side note, there have always been pickpockets in Sosua, but maybe the problem has gotten worse?

I would figure a chica in D'Latins could get at least 2, 000 & up for ST if she is really attractive? But 3000? Usually I would tell a chica what I will pay her for ST if I want them. Let them take it or leave. But if I'm not really interested but just curious to what they were expecting I'll ask just to see what they were expecting. This Haitian chica was tracking me, because I saw how she moved to get next to me when I was near Rumba, and was right on top of me the moment I stepped out of D'Latins. Later she approached me again (I left the area and came back) in order to negotiate since I didn't take her after her 3000/4000 price.

I could assume, because I asked her for her price, that that is the reason for her coming up with 3000/4000. But I'm wondering if that is what many of the 7, 8 9's up in D'Latins are expecting as well?
Just be careful bro. If you run into one quoting that high of a price, then goes down to 1500 or 2000, take her ass to the cabana. Too many stories here about chicas dropping the price just to get you to take them, then once in your hotel room they jack the price up again and threaten to call the police if you don't agree to pay it.

They always ask for the moon

The girls always start by asking for the moon. Sometimes newbies pony up. 3000 pesos is 2 weeks salary for most working girls in the DR. I met Haile Barry at Rumbas asking for 3k and she was firm. I saw her 3 hours later begging for 1k. There is always way more women then guys buying. Most girls go home with no sales so they are motivated.

Unfortunately for her, my inexpensive time piece only expands to a set size that doesn't slip easily over my big hands. Despite the brazen attempt one still tried to get me to take her back to my hotel room. Yeah, like I'd trust you in my room after you just tried to rob me.

A thief did manage to steal the charger for my electric razor from my backpack while taking the Caribe Tours bus to Sosua. As the two were connected that means they left the more expensive razor behind. What a moron. I've got 3 other compatible chargers back in the States, so no big loss, but still sucks that I can't shave or find a replacement charger in Sosua.
How did they steal your charger? Did you get up to use the bathroom?

    Thieves

They are no reason for me to down play the potential for one to be stolen from in the DR it happens every second of the day and night somewhere in the country but if I look at the dangers that I have personally noticed it no where near match's some of the other parts of the world I have visited. Since the beginning of time they have been prostitutes and thieves they go hand in hand.

A friend of mine once went to perform oral sex on his novia and noticed that her pussy smelled of tobacco. She denied cheating. As one would. However she had a close female friend who smoked.

Thanks for all the great posts guys.

My biggest takeaways are to only bring enough cash for drinks (max $50US) and lock-up everything in your room while sober prior to going out.

This is not unusual in this part of the world. While in Nicaragua a stripper chica did the same thing. My guess water is often NA at homes so toilet bowl water must be utilized at the spur of the moment.

    No big deal.

    Dance bars and stealing

Personally I have not put my self in these kind of situations in the DR I learned this shit as a drunk ass kid growing up. For the new guy's looking at going to the DR I have fucked as many women as my dick could handle and have not had to step inside a dance bar for any reason. For the men who are trying to decide between Boca Chica or Sosua I would pick Sosua they are way more ladies and for me the price's have been cheaper. The DR is for every man not just the party guy. No matter how you like it everything relating to having a woman your way is here. The best advice from me and others on this site is to interview the ladies before leaving with them and if you do not know Spanish at the very least she needs to have a good understanding of the price you are willing to pay her and for how long. Don't forget the time starts ticking as soon as the deal is made so waste no time getting down to business.

    Thieves amongst us!

While at Sosua playa yesterday 2 guys I know were sharing theft by chica stories with each other. The older guy had a ring stolen. He came back to his spot with the chica, made drinks, took off his watch and 2 rings then went to shower. When he came back, one of the rings was gone. He got security. According to him, they made this chica empty her pocketbook, searched her hair, pussy and ass for this ring. I assume they did a thorough search, but couldn't find the ring. He assumed she could have swallowed the ring. He never got the ring back even though some local dom who knows the chica said he would help him get it back. That turned out to be a waste of time, and hope.

After sharing his story and admitting it was stupid for not securing his stuff, he indicated a technique that a typical thief will do. He said he learned about it in Cuba. The thief will not exactly walk out with something, but may hide it where they can retrieve it or have someone else come and get it.

For instance, a chica can be in your spot. Have something of yours she intends to steal. Find a window or balcony or some way to toss the item from there. Then later they can go to that spot to pick it up. Or arrange for someone to come and scoop the item up. Meanwhile they stay with you in your spot acting natural, because technically they don't have anything of yours on their person. Thats what kinda happened to the guy at Tradewinds who was robbed at gunpoint. The chica went to the bathroom and tossed the guys keys so the thieves could let themselves in.

But in the case of a petty theft, you end up looking ridiculous or unsure of yourself because you'll never find the stolen item on them / the chica. At that point you might be doubting yourself trying to figure out if it could have been a previous chica, staff at the hotel or that you lost it? Of course certain items may be easier to track when it 1st goes missing. But others might go unnoticed for awhile before one can claim it was stolen. Once it's gone, you got a problem. Even if you are sure it was there 5 minutes ago. You can say it was stolen all you want. But without proof, you might be SOL.

The other dude. He bumped into an ex novia out somewhere. She tried to pickpocket him, but busted her. Turns out, he found out she has been involved with a crew of chicas who pickpocket for a living. And she obviously was trying out her craft on him, but he caught her red handed trying to extract shit from his pocket. For her he would be an easy target to try, because he might let his guard down with her. And also, she might be able to play it off that she was only fooling around. Which is exactly what she said to throw him off to what she was doing.

I was up in D'Latins last night, and I swear I was a little concerned about it happening to me. I didn't have much cash, but I had a phone. So I kept my hands in my pockets on my phone the whole time. It wasnt even crowded. And yet people were starting to swarm the place. I was getting bumped into left and right. Pinched and squeezed on the regular. I can see how easy it may be to get got. It's a thieves paradise. No doubt when out and about, you have to find a way to secure your stuff so nobody can get to it. Even guys with zippered pants can get got.

Most men wear loose fitting pants, instead of skin tight pants. That can make it easy for any good thief to get in there and out in a crowd or where ever. Even outside of the club one can potentially get got. When I was outside D'Latins way before it got crowded inside, I was approached by an unnecessarily friendly young dom dude asking me "Where I'm from?" I wasnt taking any chances of someone else coming up behind me, so I quickly moved on, with him continuing to ask me "Where I'm from?"

Anyway, has anybody had a recent encounter with a very light skinned chica that used to work at BB's and frequent Sosua named Yohanna? I think Charles Pooter remembers her from around NYE 2009.
    DM,

I recently was at BB and found out Yohanna doesn't work there anymore. Supposedly she opened a little shop of her own.
