Last week there was meeting of the owners of the bars in the Pedro Clisante with the Director of Tourism of Sosúa.

In this meeting, the Director stated that the bars should be blinded in Pedro Clisante before October 16. That is, to preserve innocent passersby of a glimpse into the bars of the Pedro Clisante. The regulation applies to Bar Central, El Flow, Bar Thick Herman, the Merenguebar, the Rumba Bar and the bar of Willy the vice mayor. Thick Herman is already busy to blind his bar with a wooden wall. The owner of Bar El Flow is also working on the blinds and an air-co as it could obviously get very hot in an enclosed space. Reportedly the owner of the Merenguebar however refuses to blind his bar. He believes that there is no reason to do so.

Good tip on the scooter, went with the Italian guy, honest, reliable and negotiable on multi day deals.

El Cheapy Car rental. Next door to Tradewinds property. The owners name is Mike. A 60 something white guy. His dominican assistant is Junior. Good cat. Mike has apartments for rent, cars and scooters. When I asked about a scooter last May, they went for as low as $10 a day. Much cheaper than all the rest. I am renting a Isuzu Rodeo now for $30 a day. My Rodeo isn't perfect but it sure is cheaper than the usual $40 to 45 a day most places are asking.

If Mikes scooter prices went up, its probably lets say $15 a day. Can't say what their mechanical condition is, but they all look new and in good shape. With any rental, look for existing issues and flaws. Bad brakes, steering, starting, bad tires etc. Many places never fix shit. However, I feel pretty confident that you wont have to worry about being scammed ( like the scooter being stolen ) or some other BS shenanigans. You can ask Mike about insurance coverage if you come to inquire at his place.

To find Mikes place, just head down route 5 like you are going to Cabarete, then make right up street that leads to Tradewinds. At the top of the hill is a little Restaurant on the left (right across from Tradewinds ). That is where Mike and Junior are. Mike serves meals at the lunch hour with his dominican girl and helpers.
