My trip is fast approaching. What is a good price from the Puerto Plata airport to Sosua? Also where is a good place to do money exchange for best rates?

Its $25 to Sosua. When you get out the airport goto there will be guys standing next to a big ass sign with their cab prices. But its $25 to Sosua. Enjoy.

Thanks, travelling with a friend and he has a driver to pick us up. Anyone tried driving here? Are the other Dominican drivers challenging to avoid? Have been there many times but never rented a car. Might try.

Not a challenge to avoid. But at night they drive with the bright lights on and everybody always wants to be first at the traffic signal. They also force their way over into the other lane without signaling and ride straddling the line that separates the lanes. But other than that it is cool.

These drivers are ripping you guys off laughing all the way. A cab from PP to Sosua cost 20 to 30 bucks at most. They have the port locked down so you guys think they are the only options. Your driver was keeping others from ripping you off because you were his pigeon. Locals pay 1 dollar to travel between PP to Sosua. Sosua is full of cab drivers to bring you back. Glad you had fun but no way should you have to pay $200 for transportation. Day time action at the time of day you were there is a challenge. Glad you were able to fine some.

Sorry for the late response. It was very good. I keep it short. We dock in amber cove. Because they was working on the roads, it took. About an hour to get there. While I was there I spent about 500 usd. This includes four different girls. Two in Sosua and two in a club we went to on the way back to the cruise. That also includes my food at baileys which I really didn't eat bc I felt like shit. I party hard everyday one the cruise. Also included all the beer I had. I had a few beers and bought a few for the girl in the club. I left around 1 and got there around 10. It was dead but there was still some out. You can still find something you want. The only bad thing was when it was time to leave, that's when all the girls was coming out. I was like a kid in a candy store. People I met on the cruise want to take another cruise on the same ship going to the same place. Will I come back to Sosua. I would love to but more than likely I wouldn't do it by myself. It will cost you 120 for the van round trip. I ended up paying close to 200 bc I tip him bc he took to the club and he was like my bodyguard. He didn't let people rip me off. I didn't need it bc I travel a lot but it was nice. I recently move back to New York last minute. Unless I see a cheap flight, doesn't look like I'm coming to back at least this year. Happy hunting.

How did you make out on your trip? I'm coming in three weeks. I'm not sure if we're docking at Amber cove or Taino Bay. I would really love to find something near the port, but I'm not holding my breath on that. We're also stopping at St. Maarten a few days before where the spots are within walking distance of the port. At this point I think I may catch a cab to Black Beards, but I was curious on what you decided to do.

The Santiago airport is actually southeast of the city of Santiago, and a bypass toll highway can be taken in order to shorten the distance and not go through the city.

Reminds me of my first days in Colombia when I would ask Colombians where is the the best beach. They would all say Santa Marta. So finally I went to Santa Marta and imagine my surprise when I saw how shitty the beach was. Well I quickly realized that was the best beach THEY knew. It certainly was not a great beach for people that have been to Destin, Cancun, Aruba, Maldives, and the likes. Sosua is the same. Not too many people that know mongering in other places sing its praises.

Your essential point is correct. That opinion from people who have not seen any better, have little value. Personally, I have been to, out of the "great places" you cite, to Maldives and having lived in Singapore, have been to the well known beaches / Islands of Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, not to speak of beaches in Southern Europe. On the other side of the world, I have been to some beach places in Aus / NZ and most importantly, have been to French Polynesia that few anywhere will have visited, with first / business class air travel, mostly Singapore Airlines, courtesy of my employers. Coming from that backdrop, I find Sosua to be perfectly fitting for my needs. Never picked a woman from the street. Women (blanquitas and morenitas and all in between) visit me at my convenience and have always had pleasant experiences (shared with a handful of people on this forum) beach, food and woman wise plus the color of the water, often a languid turquoise, three and a half hour flight away. What can beat that? I hope those that do not like Sosua, stay away but curiously the name reverberates even on the ISG forums of distant shores.

I visited the Santo Domingo a few years back and it was a positive experience. Stayed at the Marriott with no issue. Walked town, experiences werent as rushed as I've experience in Sosua and other places like Cartegna. Did you stay on the strip or outside while in Sosua?

Sounds great, and thank you for the replies. I stayed near the main strip. I am very interested in checking out Santo Domingo next time! An additional benefit is there you always have the option of 30 minutes drive to Boca Chica for more action, if you get bored as well, correct?

Ideally, I like to keep a girl around for a minimum of dinner and overnight until noon (6-12 hours minimum, up to several days if I make a great connection). It's difficult for me to relax and enjoy myself when the ladies are watching the clock, just want to get it over with as fast they can to get back to the bar / street as soon as possible. I'm not a fan of rushed service at all, half of my enjoyment at this age is dependent on if she is able to relax and enjoy herself. If her pussy is dry, I am not interested at all. I just got back from my first time in DR, 6 days in Sosua. Overall it was a great experience with many highs and a few lows. Plenty of beautiful and sexy women. Had a lot of fun. If I return to DR however, I would like to go somewhere else, if there's a place that is more laid back and with more GFE available, like Pattaya. GFE can be found in Sosua but there's a lot of German red light district style, rushed service and up selling going on, which was a turn off. I am almost 50 and would prefer to keep a girl around for a few days and really enjoy restaurants and relaxing not just one hour of mechanical sex. Is there a better location in DR for this? I'd also like to know if there's somewhere that I don't feel like I have to be on guard against being robbed or swindled constantly. Ideally if someone can suggest another area in Dominican Republic where you have classsier less gangsterish women and beautiful scenery, but still a decent selection for mongers to choose from, that would be great. I usually rent a car. One time I landed because of delay in the middle of the night. Rental counters are closed. I had to pay $30 for private taxi to Sosua.

Next day I took a moto from Sosua to pop airport to collect my car. Forget how much I paid but it was cheap.

If you are looking for cheap transport and do not have big bags you can walk to the main road and catch moto or line taxi cheap. From the airport you are at the mercy of taxi mafia.

Yes, I felt the same way in Sosua (except the beach is nice) so I never went back there. Instead went to Santo Domingo and Santiago mostly with girls I met on Cupid but also a few referrals.
