I usually rent a car. One time I landed because of delay in the middle of the night. Rental counters are closed. I had to pay $30 for private taxi to Sosua.

Next day I took a moto from Sosua to pop airport to collect my car. Forget how much I paid but it was cheap.

If you are looking for cheap transport and do not have big bags you can walk to the main road and catch moto or line taxi cheap. From the airport you are at the mercy of taxi mafia.

I would say you have to use weighted opinions. Would you put more faith in "haters" that have actually been to Sosua AND other places, or those "in their 60's" who frequent Sosua but have not been to other places?

Reminds me of my first days in Colombia when I would ask Colombians where is the the best beach. They would all say Santa Marta. So finally I went to Santa Marta and imagine my surprise when I saw how shitty the beach was. Well I quickly realized that was the best beach THEY knew. I have done my share of 3 somes in Sosua. All but 1 have been just fine. The cost has been about 7000 pesos (130 bucks) for an hour.
