Now how ridiculous doesthat sound? I am a grown azz 38 year old professional black man. Having to throw on a wannabee thug persona to appease someone's perception of what a black person should look like is demeaning to say the least. It's the same as having to wave the "American" card, these are things done to counter my Black status. "Hey ladies I'm one of the good one's from the USA and eey's a Thug!"

Thank God for MLK, OBAMA ,and HIP HOP!

Supposedly they have rooms for massages there. The chicas there were mostly dominican with maybe two Haitian chicas. It is on the same side of the street as Classicos, when walking in the direction of the dive shop from Classicos, but before the dive shop.
Its funny because ive walked by that place 100 times and never went in.I always stick my head in then get out quick. Those big wooden doors always made me feel like it was a trap or something.Like they would close those doors and you would never be seen again. But im hitting sosua this weekend and im definetly going to check it out.

I think Jaosousa is talking about the hideaway. It was a massage place like he decribes, maybe 2 years ago? Now it's just a regular bar, I think Canadian owned. It was for sale recently, maybe still is. I came accross a link to the realtor about a month ago. I did take a girl out of there once, though not a Haitian.

Not sure how you came to be that popular in Thailand - they are generally very racist, even the slightest shade of darker colour gives them a feel of superiority. Their whole class system is based on various shade of their skins, girls from Isaan are generally a bit darker and they are so much discreminated against.
For WG in parlours, they are usuallyu priced based on, first colour then age.

    Distinguishing haitianas from dominicanas

As some of you may have noticed, I am now living permanently in the DR and I generally prefer to spend my limited time, pesos and sperm on haitianas rather than dominicanas. I can usually spot which is which, but many first-generation and some second-generation dominicanas look totally Haitian. I used to ask "Tu eres haitiana?" but sometimes the chica would react badly if she was Dominican, as if I were insulting her. So now I ask "Ou pale Kreyol?". If they are Dominican or out of touch with their Haitian roots they don't react or just think I am garbling something in Spanish. If they are still in touch enough to know some Kreyol then they are unlikely to be offended. And if they are Haitian their faces light up and I am off and running.

It is a sad situation but Knick Fan is totally correct in his analysis.

So you pointed out Mannequins and in Merxico Brazil and the other countries turn on the TV and count the # of Blacks you see. Do a google search on blanqueamiento.

It's the old divide and conquer strategy in full effect. Black slaves outnumbered their masters so they had to figure out a way to keep them from uniting. It mostly worked since most of the formerly conquered are still mentally enslaved, still deny or distance themselves from their African heritage.

Although Haiti was one of the few exceptions. First free former slave republic. They did it the old fashioned way and have been paying the price ever since.

So really DR is a text book example but really in Latin America to the Philippines to Brazil to the USA the lighter (or whiter) you are the better you will get treated. It; s a GLOBAL thing, sad to say.

Black men get the best treatment in the whitest (Germany, Iceland, Estonia) of countries were they are rare and therefore exotic, but in the dark countries you better be carrying that "American" card, but even then you will be 2nd choice to your whiter American Com padre.

They don't like Haitians down there plain and simple and Dominican culture is obsessed with the light skin black vs dark skin black thing if you can believe it. I could give a class on this topic so I'll just leave it with 3 common observations:

    1) I challenge you to find any dark skinned mannequins in store front windows when you're out shopping down there. The mannequins are almost always white as rice. Check it out!

    2) Employment want ads in the local papers there often post job openings for high public visibility such as bank tellers, secretaries, slaes clerks in expensive stores, etc with the words, "buen presencia" or 'good presence'. This is code speak for light skin people only need apply for these positions and everybody knows this.

    3) National ID cards or 'ceduals' specify your race just as they often do here in the USA "B" for white, "M" for brown skin, "I" for indian? And "N" for negro (naygrow)or black. Here's the problem with the Indian thing. They were all wiped out by various European white man diseases as well as their failure to adapt to slavery and were exterminated by the 1600's. So. If your baby is born is just a bit too dark skinned you can pay a bribe to have the child classified as Indian. There are NO indians down there, trust me. Now, how fucked up is that.

Go to Amazon and see if you can get a used copy of the book: "Why the Cocks Fight" by a female author with a funny last name like Wunk or something like that. This is an excellent resource on the history of the 2 countries that share the same island and the reasons for their (Dominican) fixation with race and skin color. I'm glad I read it when I did as it really helped me out alot to understand this culture.

Act and walk like an American and keep some sort of document to that effect and they should leave you alone. And leave the expensive gold jewelry and man accessories at home, PLEASE.

    Take care.

Some do,some don't. My experience has been that it is about 50/50. Ask them up front before you take them to your room if it is really important to you.

Well, many Haitianas do have a different, more African look. They speak Spanish, if at all, with a Frenchified lilt, and they tend to hang together in pairs or groups, so they are pretty easy to spot in Sosua. Additionally they rarely wear expensive hair weaves. They often have natural hair or wear cheap wigs. OK, you will obviously find the odd exception who breaks all these rules, but not many.
