Sosua Reports

I was in Sosua this past October, I can remember seeing something about a white woman who was murdered in Cabarete, I believe she worked in a hotel in Cabarete. I have talked to people who live in Dom. Rep. and they generally tell me to be careful. Dominican thugs are opportunistic, so I always watch my back. I could have gotten into a fight one late night in bar Caperinha with a local thug, but I walked away. I bought food at Andy's bar, near to La Passion's massage. Dutch guy owns the place and he told me business was slow. There is an economic downturn throughout the world now and the wealthier countries are feeling the pain. I would imagine the poorer countries in the world will feel the pain more. I would suspect that more women will turn to prostitution as a way to make money and I would suspect that more dudes will turn to crime as a way to make money.

I live in New York and I know Dominicans here. I have heard many stories about Dominican men getting arrested here, doing time in jail here and then they get deported to the Dominican Republic. Good number of felons who got deported, now living in the Dominican Republic.

I generally feel safe in the Dominican Republic, but I suspect with the current economic conditions in the world, that there will be an uptick in crime.

Wow, it's not just the "brothas" that like that kind of hips and ass. I might just add those pics to my personal pocket calendar! There are all shapes and sizes and colors there, so don't worry.

As far as LaPassions, just go see, the ladies change almost daily, and last time I was in there a couple weeks ago, I saw everything from the little girls petite, to the ladies big and tall.

Honestly, do you really think with all those dark skinned beauties down there that there won't be some fine bigga asses and itty bitty waists?

Let me break it down for everyone. With the violence in Mexico related to the cocaine trafficking and its relationship with the U. S. , drug distributors (colombians)are re-routing their product thru the D, R. Into America (see bani masacre on August 4th). This creates the DR elevated crime level. But it has not affected the tourist trade yet. The DR and especially Sosua is still a place of adventure. You just have to up your awareness and stay alert. The police will protect the tourist because it is legit deniro. Crime should be reported so that we (travelers)are aware. I witnessed a robbery outside of seacrets my last trip but didn't post because I thought it was isolated. Not sure I should post what happened.

Anyway, Sosua is still safe and I am not worried.

I am traveling to POP in December, but I am already trying to decide where I will spend Spring Break in 09. I WAS thinking of Sosua, but after visiting "La Passion" website (http://www.lapassion-sosua.com/index.php?swidth=1200) and viewing those pencil thin chicas with the match stick legs I am now asking myself "is that the best Sosua has to offer?"

I mean no disrespect to guys who like thin women, but I know a lot of people on this board swear by "La Passion." I have even read about guys complaining about the prices some of the chicas there are asking for.

I can honestly say that I would not pay to session with not one of those chicas featured on their website. Not a sixpence! I became even more depressed after viewing the video of the 3 toothpicks dancing on top of the bar.

So, please help me out guys. Are there women to be found in Sosua built like the women photos I have attached?? (not my photos, just using them as examples).

Or is all of this wishful thinking?

Don't be fooled by me having just 3 posts. I just started posting on THIS forum, but am a well respected Senior Member under a different name on the other site. I have been to Puerto Plata and Sosua a great number of times. I just had to get a new name because someone else had taken my moniker from the other site and registered it here.

I now know of 3 shootings. One, is the one listed below. Another is the one I personally witnessed on the News Channel in Sosua where SWAT did indeed blow the face off of one guy and the chest out of another, and a third on D.R. 1 where a local German bar owner/partner was fooling around with another chica, and his regular shot him in the leg 6 times.

Sorry if you don't respect the TRUE INFO, it's not to scare anyone away, but it does need to be heard and understood.

I was surprised that the incident has been kept fairly low-key.

Just got back and was in Club X on both Saturday and Sunday nights. No cover either night and it was rocking. I didn't make it to After One but it seemed the flow when Classicos closed was directly across the street to Club X. To my taste, there were more good looking chicas at 3 a.m in Club X than in Classicos. Chicas came from all over Sosua and two different chicas told me they were coming directly from their casas to the bar. Bad news was that my experience was that the prices didn't seem to go down. Also a lot of Dominicanos.

Why did you post this and NOT answer the question inquiring minds want to know? Are they charging the 700 peso cover, or any cover? What is the deal there?

The guy who was shot may have been a drug dealer but SWAT had nothing to do with it, was a guy dressed all in black came in and opened fire with 2 handguns, besides hitting the guy at the bar (he was 6 seats away from me) he also hit the chica the guy had brought in with him, no-one else injured.

We're obviously talking about a separate incident. The SWAT shooting was on the news and virtually every local stayed home one night because of it while I was there.

This shooting is new to me. Astounding.

Which bar? When you say "besides hitting the guy at the bar", do you mean shooting?

I for one, am getting very concerned about this type of thing getting out of hand, matter of fact, it appears it has.

Local S.W.A.T. chased down two drug dealers, it ended bad with the two drug dealers being shot. This was not near the Sosua area. A street called something like Maranatha or something on the other side of Charimicos.

Doubtful the local Policia would ever allow anything to mess up the touism there. Its still safe.

Does this mean Club X is staying open later than Classicos? How is this possible with the curfew in place?

I don't know the ins and outs but just like After Hours, Club X stays open til dawn. Or so the former Classicos waiters who work there told me. I pulled a chica at 4 am on Saturday night and another a 3 am on Sunday night. I didn't go there on Monday night as I found someone who tickled my fancy at closing in Classicos.
