The people of Sosua have a choice: Either stay with Mayor Neumann's shit show, or go with someone who might actually inject renewed life into a failing tourist town. What will the people decide? We will know in a little over two weeks.

No real argument there.

It is a political circus that sees old Rumba opening one day, closed that same evening, reopened in the morning and, as of yesterday, closed again, LOL.

I've also pointed out a couple of times in recent posts, (see below) that some resolution to the mixed up policy should occur after the February election.

My reports on bar closings and reopenings, comes directly from observation on the ground.

My understanding of why, and what leverage is being used politically on the closed businesses comes first hand from a major player in the business (who shall be nameless) and who has been attending these meetings for a couple of years now. The reference to the demand that they operate as "restaurants" only, is part of the ongoing negotiations to clean up the downtown and the promises that were made to the bar owners!

Take it or leave it!

My friend, I know you're a lot smarter than that comment. Let's take a look at what happened in November 2019:

As the article points out, closing the bars doesn't affect only the owners. It also affects maintenance staff, security staff, cleaning staff, taxi / motoconcho staff, fashion stores, beauty / massage salons, and as you and I both know, the WGs. In my opinion, Mayor Ilana Neumann and her ilk were so rattled by the protest that they cooked this up only 24 hours later:

You know as well as I do that closing the bars and keeping them closed affects hundreds of people, not just 6. And with the Mayoral election being between only Ilana Neumann and Wily Olivences, hundreds of votes can easily be the deciding factor between who wins and who loses.

The question at this point is, are the people of Sosua happy with Neumann and her policies, or are they fed up and ready for a change? If they're happy and motivated to vote, you can expect Neumann to win. If they're fed up and motivated to vote, you can expect Olivences to win. And as I said in my original comment:

Willie appears to have FAR more support than illiana.

The only problem is. Santo Domingo wants her in office doing what she is doing. This came from the outgoing president, she didn't do all this alone or without support. So we'll see who really runs things, the people, or the power. Stay tuned folks! Peace.

As a newbie to Sosua I can say that there is enough info in the threads already for newbies to get their feet wet. That's not to say you might not have a poor experience. But that is how we learn. I've had a few poor experiences already here but mostly because I was doing "quick picks" off the street.

I've also been to anhvee twice. Picked a Dominican both times. (not on purpose. Just worked out that way) Both asked for 3,000 pesos for short time. One only offered an hour for that. The other I can't remember if it was 1 or 2 hours. One girl was about a 7 to 7.5. The other was an 8 to me. I offered both girls 2,500 and they both accepted. Both experiences were pretty good but nothing outstanding. But I think that is somewhat the nature of a first time fuck during a one hour session for a newbie. Which could be anywhere not just the. Are.

A lot of these girls look hot from 15 to 20 feet away and when I get within 5 feet I see that they are maybe 7 or less. I don't grade inflate. And of course everybody taste varies! As a newbie I find it a bit challenging to "pre qualify" them before making a final deal. I'm sure that is part art and part science.

All girls so far that I have been with have not been willing to do BBBJ only CBJ. So, will see how it goes. May do one more pick off the street. Some of those Haitian girls looking pretty hot from 20 feet away. LOL.

The political circus continues.

The pressure to open up for the rest of high season, starting off with SuperBowl weekend continues.

Good tourist money is being wasted!

They promised that closed "restaurants" on Pedro could re-open if they behaved like restaurants and not hooker joints.

So we have King's (old Rumba) given permission by a highly placed official to re-open Wednesday morning, which they did! But then the Mayor came out and closed it up because they hadn't been issued the proper Official Notice to post on the door, so she ordered it closed last night! Lol. The Official Notice was supposed to be delivered this afternoon so they could re-open at 4 pm today. Hopefully it arrived in time.

El Flo got their Official Notice to re-open so they were good to go today, but the guy not could move his computers back in and set up on time.

Such is the state of the union here, but as I said before, they want that high season money coming back in, before it's too late!

It could be almost business as usual for Superbowl, with Classico open again, but a couple of bar lessees already walked away from the shit after the last closings, and the building owners are scrambling to get new lessees in place. But with the new clubs opening up town, and new local bars discoverd, the choices may actually improve. Some may not go back to the old sweatshop places!

As I also said, the situation won't really settle down until after the February election, when we'll all find out who's actually in charge!

In the meantime folks are still finding ways to have a good time here.

Also where anyone has a Viagra spot in town?

I'm excited to head back, despite the changes, I have no doubts there is still a lot of fun to be had!

Also saw 3 chicas inside Kings. 2 together in the open area. And one by herself trying to talk to guys posted up out front.

Pranitium, Merengue, Clasico, Bourbon Street and Blue Ice, nothing going on. Closure signs still posted. It's now wait and see.

Big sign out front of Rumbas / Kings "NOW OPEN". The owner of Blue Ice told me that she will be open before Superbowl and that Classicos in fact will be open tomorrow. We'll see, I'll believe it when I see it.
