From Sosua it's about 270 pesos or $8 USD. An excellent bargain.

You catch it from the Caribe Tours depot in Los Charamicos so you'll need a "ride" from the el Batey side.

Unless I'm mistaken, you can catch a bus in Sosua that will take you to SD in about 5 hours for $US20 or less.

I'm heading back to DR tomorrow (my 8th trip in 2 yrs)and I'm flying into POP to spend Friday in Sosua but my lovely university novia in SD demands I be there Sat. I'll drive if I have to(I've done it before) I can't seem to find any info on flights to SDQ from the north. Thanks for any help!

Spanish fluency WILL NOT save your ass if you choose to hunt tigers instead of gazelles!!!!!! If you can't tell a tiger from a gazelle then you're in trouble. Below are some helpful hints (listed in order of importance) that will help you discern who's a tiger and who's a gazelle.

If you choose to hunt in Boca Chica or Sosua you've significantly increased the odds of a finding a tiger. Tigers love to hunt at night on Duarte (Boca Chica) and at Classicos (Sosua.)

2. Time of Day
If you choose to hunt at night you should be very skeptical of the women you meet, because you've significantly increased the odds of a finding a tiger. Good girls skip school to make a few bucks in the daytime, but return home at night. In tiger areas (Boca Chica, Sosua...), hookers and girls from broken families are the girls you will find in the evenings.

3. Age
If you choose to hunt in "tiger areas" (Boca Chica, Sosua...), then you should be skeptical of all women 20+. Dominican girls start fucking and having babies early. Some even start whoring early. Get them early. Get them before they spoil (6-months+ whoring in Sosua or Boca Chica.)

I just wanted to second the comments on learning Spanish. Without speaking the language, you still won't have much trouble getting sex, but it will likely be more of a business transaction than it would be if you could communicate and get to know each other.

What if you don't have the time to go take classes or spend six months listening to language CDs? Here are a couple of things you can do.

On a recent trip with a non-Spanish speaking friend, we each had a girl for the night but he complained about feeling left out of conversations when the four of us were together. Although I speak Spanish, I always have a Spanish-English dictionary with me, and my friend grabbed it and it turned out to be much more than just a means for looking up words for him and his girl.
