This thinking that you point out concerning guys who bring up the prices they pay compared to their home country is really nonsense. I wonder if they compare computer prices from the DR to what they pay at home? If they consider The cost to get to the airport, changing planes, the cost of a taxi after landing, then the hotel room they need it would seem like the great difference in price they are getting is not a great deal as they imagine from their home base. Another way to look at it is the hassle of customs, airport delays, lost luggage, and other things like dealing with the touts, and rip off providers.

One other thing is the exchange rate changes sometimes against the Monger.

I was not trying to criticize you. I am a tourist a lot of places. But I have never understood the "back home" thinking. Nobody goes to a more expensive place and talks about how much cheaper it would be back home. They only do that with the cheaper places. I don't think about what it would cost back home. I think about what it costs HERE!

Over the years the prices I had were from free to a bottle of soft drink to $200 USD. No one yet offered to pay me or asked over $200 USD per hour. Expats regularly pay 1,000 pesos during the day to a girl with a pulse, most do them bareback. As a tourist I'm ok with RD $2,000 to RD $3,500 for a good time.

Not true I "affected" the market negatively. An expat monger assured me privately that I was absolutely within the range of local market pricing. And at most of the other places I patronized like the termas in Rio and the boates in So Paulo, there was either set pricing by the club, or a "common market" price that you knew all of the girls were going to start out asking for, and then you negotiate from there. I paid what Brazilians patronizing those same clubs pay.

I'm not the kind of monger who only makes a comparison between home and the overseas location I'm in. I do think about what is a fair price in the country where I'm mongering, regardless of home country price. But, I certainly don't ignore the latter either. It all comes into play in a personal economic analysis, including my status as a tourist with a limited amount of time to do my "buying". I'm not going to spend a lot of time haggling over $15 to $20 if I see something I got to have. And I'm not going to fuck in dirty rooms to save money on the fuck either, but that's just me. The only thing I want to be dirty in the room is the sex!

I do my homework before I travel, even if I have been to a place many times before because things do change, and I make sure I don't get ripped off, be that in Brazil, Germany, The Philippines, Thailand or wherever. What is a fair price locally, and how does that compare to back home? I ask both questions, plus consider the level of service I can expect to get in each place for what I'm paying too. It all goes into the mix. It is why I stay my ass out of Switzerland and the UAE, among some other places. They don't work for me on an economic level, or even in terms of customer satisfaction.

Your obligation in the DR or anywhere else is to get your satisfaction for your money, not worry about "the market". Your market is what you want and when you want it! You can't get lobster for the price of a plate of fries. It's just not the same!

You generally get what you pay for. It's no co-incidence that those who complain about what other mongers spend, are also the ones that complain the most about the Sosua hoes, and the rip offs. lol.
