For me, having traveled Asia for a long time, two things stand out in favor of the DR (not necessarily Sosua) - the proximity of its geography and ease of the language. In Thailand or Indonesia or Taipei or Burma or Vietnam or Korea (definitely less so in Singapore and Malaysia), the girls could barely go beyond "ficki ficki". In the DR, I can have a sensible conversation like everyday people and the place is a 4 hour flight from where I am. The local prices are excellent, the food is International plus local and good quality, if you can overlook fried chicken. (I don't think much of Filipino food, sorry!) I even had women prepare chivo for me and bring it to hotel.

Germany is probably the safest and easiest of all places (London is good though as is Aus / NZ) but you certainly do not get what I can get in the DR. Most places that I know of, around the globe are fish bowls or Internet ads these days, just no comparison compared to the DR.

The risk one is speaking of is much higher in the land I live (both the legal hazards and health) - if one cannot handle Sosua, one needs to take a second look at oneself or as some do, travel in group. After all, like the women in Sosua, there is safety in numbers!

Checked airfare from DFW to SDQ and it is under $400 on Delta. Dang! A real airline. Anyways, I want to thank you guys for your input.

To OldKool: the price difference between SDQ and POP is between $400 and $500 from where I live (Dallas / Ft. Worth) and is more than a ticker to Asia. So its a no-brainier to fly into SDQ unless I can find an odd bargain to POP on Priceline like I saw once for a few seconds ($350 RT).

Understanding and knowing an environment and what CAN happen or it's potentials, is not about hating on Sosua. It's about being aware. What good is telling people all of the good stuff and not also provide feedback and insight of things that one should be aware of? Also nobody is disputing the frequency or infrequency of when petty shit happens. Just that it is important to know.

Here's one example of how some chicas in packs can work to exploit a monger. A dude invites a chica out somewhere. Maybe to the beach or to a restaurant.
