Posts: 54Thanks for this usefull post. I thought to go in November for two weeks but I changed. I don, t like to start my night earlier and under time pressure in holiday. And hunting only in three possible locations (Merengue / Classico, City Lights, Bourbon) during several days is boring.

Their Pina Coladas are also quite good. As are the ones at a few of the better restaurants on Playa de Sosua, as I am sure you know better than me ?
Enjoy. Have fun. Seeing on the news now that there is a hurricane going to hit Haiti in the next 24-48 hours. Stay safe!

Posts: 15925I can't take this rude ass Dominican shit. I am at Texaco to fill up before going to Santo Domingo. I am waiting behind a motorbike for my turn. Why does another guy on a motorbike go in front of my car like he is supposed to be served next? The guy pumping the gas straightened him out before I did.

I have heard the story about clutch lining but never had to worry about it and, no handbrakes for me. It is playing with right and left foot but have always driven manuals. Lot more fun.

Posts: 15925I forgot to mention about the non-New York guy that drove up in a golf cart, walked into the cajun restaurant, and caused a scene before getting back into the golf cart and driving off while still yelling. People like this are ruining Sosua.

I wanted to check out Sosua since last time I was here it was a Tuesday and it looked like the place had gone to shit. Since it was Friday I guess it did a 180 turn. My regular hotel had a spot open so I threw my bags into the room then went to Rocky's to get some ribs. After I placed my order the waitress told me that if I wait until 5 pm they have the all you can get BBQ special for 450 pesos. That was better than the 640 pesos I was about to pay. So I decided to head to Charamicos to get a haircut in the mean time. It was 4:13 pm.
When I parked the car I saw my barber heading across the street so I hollered at him. He said he was going to use the bathroom and would be back in 5 minutes. But wait. There is nothing but and abandoned building there. And if you need 5 minutes that means you are planning to take a shit. At least when he returned I saw him sanitize his hands with alcohol. I took my phone out to take a picture of him cutting my hair and he almost shit bricks. He jumped back and told me not to record him. I told him that I was just trying to take a picture of the torrential rain outside.
Some guy came in and paid him 1200 pesos. Then he started telling me about the 2 million pesos that he has invested in Caribe Tours. He said they have 2000 drivers and I forget how many buses that go all over the country. I corrected him by saying that Caribe Tours does not go out east to Punta Cana / Bavaro / Higuey. You have to take APTRA bus from Santo Domingo to go there. You would have thought I cursed his mother. He swore me down that Caribe Tours went there. He even called a friend that said they go there as well. Then another guy came into the shop. He said that Caribe Tours did not go out east and even went to the station and got a brochure to show him. He was still not trying to hear it. I even texted my ex girlfriend who lives in Higuey and she confirmed that Caribe Tours does not come out that way. Well, he does not know his bus routes but he sure knows how to cut hair. He gave me one of the best cuts and shaves of my life and I was on my way 200 pesos lighter but looking like 1 million bucks. As I passed Caribe Tours I saw some fine ass half breeds getting off the bus. Were they going to Charamicos or were they planning to work in Sosua?
I got back to Rocky's and the food was ready. There was ribs (not the same ribs as when you place an order during non BBQ hours), chicken, pork chops, potato salad, and bread. It was taking forever for my pina colada to come so I questioned the waitress about it. She told me it was coming. Bullshit. Just then I saw the bartender chick walk to the store and come back with the coconut milk. Seriously? Turned out to be one of the best pina coladas I have ever had. The total damage was 650 pesos.
It was after 6 pm. I debated going back to my room for a while since I was full as a mf after 2 servings of BBQ, but decided to walk up to the strip to see what was going on. I stood right outside of the cajun restaurant and watched chicks walk by. The inside of the restaurant was full of mostly chicks at tables. Most of these chicks were top notch. I remember Wrx talking about them sitting there eating a plate of french fries. Well I think now they have found a cheaper option. Because most of them were sitting there eating cornbread muffins.
Some chicks come by and stop to talk to me trying to drum up business. I would always act like I did not speak Spanish. One chick told me 2000 for 1 hour. When I laughed she tried to change it to 2000 for 2 hours. When she stepped away I told (in Spanish) her friend who was still standing next to me your friend must be crazy to think somebody is going to give 2000 for 1 or 2 hours. I had given a girl in Santo Domingo 2000 for the entire night last night. It was dead obvious that many chicks on the stroll during those hours had not yet seen their 18th birthday. Clothes, accessories, hands, feet are all telltale signs that they have not reached adulthood.
Whenever I asked some of the chicks where they were from they would lie thinking all I knew was Sosua. One chick (who spoke some English-but keep in mind I am not letting them know I speak Spanish) said she was from Santo Domingo. Oh yeah, what part? She had no idea. Then her friend (who only spoke Spansh) said San Ysidro and she repeated San Ysidro. I said so tell me what is San Ysidro known for. She had no fucking idea. I finally told her friend that in San Ysidro there is an Air Force Base and many cabanas. She enthusiastically agreed and was surprised that I knew San Ysidro. It is funny to know more about their country than they do.
Some guys who were at the last table on the sidewalk got up and left so I sat down. The waitress came over and I asked for a menu. I decided to go with the Cuba Libre for 100 pesos. I had only left the room with 1500 and had already spent 900 for a haircut and food. As Wrx mentioned before it was really a weird dynamic at the cajun restaurant. I don't think many guys will approach a table full of chicks for whatever reason. And that is exactly what I witnessed the few hours that I was there. There were many tables full of chicks. Maybe a couple of tables with dudes. And a few dudes at the bar. Then there were all dudes at the sidewalk tables. There was pretty much zero interaction between males and females. I will say that last time I would not have fucked 99% of the chicks who were in Sosua. This time I would definitely hit 90% of the ones that I have seen. I guess it is the ebb and flow. Best to come on the weekend.
I noticed one chick standing in front of me with her back to me as she decided to walk off. I saw her shape and said where the hell do you think you are going? (This was well after the chick in the gray that I posted about before came to give me her number.) She said that she was going to look for her friend. I said fuck your friend. You stay right here. She stood there talking until a guy who was occupying the other seat at the table got up and left with friends. I told her to sit down. She said she was from Santo Domingo and had just arrived to make some money for the weekend. She spoke damn good English (to me) but I guess she never realized that I was speaking to her in Spanish because she said sorry my English is not that good. I said well why the hell do you keep talking to me in English when I have been talking in Spanish the whole time? Me and this chick had some chemistry going so after about an hour I asked her if she wanted something to drink. She ordered some lemonade.
We talked for at least another hour then I decided to start negotiations. I got another drink and she ordered a Cuba libre as well. She said that she would take 3000 for the night. I laughed and said no way. I told her that I would give her 2000. She went to 2500. Still no way. I stuck to 2000. She said well how about 2000 and a tip? I said no tip. Only 2000. Your tip will be me calling you next time I am in Santo Domingo. Then she said 2000 and you buy me dinner. I told her that I was already full from Rocky's and I would not buy her cheese to go on a Whopper. She said but I will treat you really good. I said well how about treating me bad for 1500 all night? She started laughing. I asked her how much money she had in her purse because I did not know if I had enought to pay the bill. She said she had 300 pesos. I told her that she was lying and she handed me her purse inviting me to look in it. I asked for the bill and it was 550 pesos for 4 Cuba Libres, 1 lemonade, and 1 unauthorized soda. I pointed it out to the waitress and she said she didn't know how the soda got on there because she knew I did not order one. So the total was 500. I gave her 550 and me and my girl walked to the car.
I drove back to the room to get more money so I could get this chick some Terra Linda pizza that she wanted. We got to Terra Linda at 10:38 and the guy said the kitchen was closed. Well what time do you close? 11 pm. So how the hell is the kitchen closed? Dominican logic. We went to NY Pizza and they were not going to make anything else either. The girl said that because of the early closing time of the bars, they close early too. So she ordered 2 slices of pizza that were already made and a large juice. It was 300 pesos. I looked at the receipt and saw 100 pesos for a large juice and started cussing. I said this is not a fucking large. And I got this same size juice this morning in Santo Domingo for 50 pesos. My girl started laughing. She said yeah in Sosua they rip you off because of the tourists.
We went back to the room. She smoked some weed. And she made me remember that ass!

It was good to be back in Sosua.
I was travelling alone, waiting for my buddy to arrive a couple days later. My regular doesn't know that I am in town.
I met some interesting Canadian people (white females) on the plane and in town, that live right in Sosua, and have businesses there. I saw a level of enthusiasm for the town I'd only previously seen in mongers. WTF? If the sex trade ever dries up. I'm now convinced there is a good future for Sosua. I might even re-consider my retirement plans. New construction and renovation is in full swing along the beach road behind Casa Marina, Casa Valeria is expanding so there definitely is life there.
My first night Tuesday, was uneventful. It was quiet, a couple of my favorite bars were closed, and one, across from Bailey's that served as an impromptu bachata dance bar, had been actually raised to the ground. Never did know it's name, but I did recommend it to OldKool, who likes to dance. D 'Latin and Rumba still closed, so I chilled up near Europa at my little outside bar with the girls who worked there. You Wi-Fi your music to their sound system, so you get to listen to what everybody likes!
It didn't take long to find the locals I know, or I should say they found me. They are still around town playing musical chairs, now the bars and restaurants are closed / quiet. An old chica friend is now running an esthetic shop that sells beer, (only in Sosua). Another, by coincidence delivers groceries to the condo where I am staying. My moto guy has now graduated to a taxi. So I got caught up with the latest gossip, like where is everybody now, will the recently closed bars re-open? Maybe, who knows? Is the universal answer. I'm amazed at their natural ablility to move on, and not waste time and energy worrying about things beyong their control. My old bar manager, servers, they all came around to what turned out to be party central for a few days. The action on Dr Rosen near Rocky's was hot with the chicas running in to the bars, hiding from the cops, was very remeniscent of Boca Chica. Some old puta friends (I can hardly call them hardcore came around for a beer.
Pussy wise, Dr Rosen came alive Wednesday, and there was enough beautiful young pussy around, to satisfy anyone. A new bar opened to replace the Bermuda Bar a couple of doors around the corner on Dr Rosen, and the place was packed. The 8/9's start at a standard 4,000 but the actual going rate is still around 2000/3500.
The guys are still hanging across the street from Rumba, in front of Bourbon and Imperial, but like Bar Central, more mongers than chicas. They guys look more bored, these days.
I was chilling, because my buddy was coming Thursday and he has now reached a comfort level where he organizes his own imports and he was bringing them in every couple of days, 3 days a family of 5, including Momma and a bambina, 2 days, two sisters. He vwas in heaven, but I kept warning him about the money he was spending. The deal was I was supposed to take some pussy off his hands, but I enjoyed being free and popped a beauty from the grocery store accross the street a couple of times. Then my regular showed up!
I did my own unnoficial pzza survey, and rated 1,2,3, Baily's, Terra Linda, and New York in that order. The "Complete" from Bailey's is better than sex!
Thursday night, we were in Classico, my first time in years, and the Air Conditioning alone was a worth the cover charge. It was packed with some beauties. My deal was to buy a beer for the one rubbing up against me, and sending her to the bar so she could line up and bring us drinks, so we kept our good spot at the corner! My version of VIP treatment.
We went up to my favorite Charamicos on Sunday, to eat, drink beer, music and pay my respects (and little propina) to the old folks there, who have looked after me over the years. I needed change so I gave a local 100 US. He took off for half an hour and came back with 4,000 peso. Hey I said! He says, Senor, this is Charamicos, and this is domingo, with a laugh!
Since my GF came later and left a day early, I was free to sniff around, and got the chica (student type) from my little bar to agree to come back to the room.
It's crazy, and must be my age, but I had been trying for a couple of days, and when she finally said yes, I sorta lost interest.
Sosua was hotter than hell, but is still alive and well, and everything a monger needs is still there, good food, good people, good pussy, ice cold beer!
Highly recommended!
