I appreciate his effort. I googled her name and some more info and I was able to find the article and her Facebook. Sometimes we have to be a little innovative here.

I was thinking she might have been Venezuelan and the cops wanted some pussy but she is actually Dominican. One might wonder why she was alone on Pedro Clisante at 11 pm but her Facebook showed a very family oriented, respected lady.

To be fair, occasionally someone new comes in and writes a report that brings a new perspective to the board, but not often. It would be interesting to see a report from someone who was wheelchair bound, or had never paid for sex before, or who had just got out of a long term marriage, or something like that. The thing that is really missing in most of the reports is a sense of wonderment, a sense of having had a never-before experience, or just of having had a wonderful sexual experience of some kind. There is way too much about negative experiences of one kind or another. The study of linguistics, economics, etc. , though strictly off topic, is interesting because it is all about how to fine tune communication with the people you meet and have sexual experiences with.

If you just want to know where to go to find a girl, whether you can get BBBJ, and how much you might pay, there really is little to know and by reading reports and comments here you will very quickly get a feel for the general ambience of Sosua.

I remember you were heavily into a conversation with a mongering couple, who turned out to be bullshitters and got banned from the board, so you have to be careful.

One place shuts down and another has come up, girls are plentiful or girls are all gone, stick to Sosua or no fan out and explore, that admixed with shoeshine boys, cops, politics, linguistics, sociology, economics and so forth in the slow months, as you say. This forum is just a sine curve with varying amplitude.

You are correct. There are no publicos that go directly to La Sirena. I hopped out of the publico on a main street, and followed my phone GPS down a street, through a playground, and around a corner to get there. The publicos don't go on the street in front of the Malecon.

My intent was not to be nitpicky or anything of the sort but I can see how my post could be construed as such though and because of that I will apologize to you and the members of this board.

That said, the intention of my post was to point out to visitors to Sosua, after all this is the Sosua thread NOT the Pto Pta thread, that you in fact can not take a publico directly to La Sirena and / or the malecon, mongers in Sosua don't want to walk across the street let alone 15 minutes in the heat of the day. I also would not advise gringos to walk back to the parada after shopping carrying bright yellow La Sirena bags in Puerto Plata, eventually bad shit will happen, I know some people will argue that Pto Pta is safe for a gringo to walk in but I know better, I used to live in that immediate area.

Hope you are well. I have to respectfully disagree about Puerto Plata being all that. I've spent quality time in both the north and south coasts (just got back to the states last night) and the south coast (SD, BC, San Pedro etc) has many more options as far as women, adventures, excursions and big city type of amenities (SD has movies, parks, subway, malls etc) vs the north coast where the options are very limited.

The north coast may be more gringo friendly but IMO that's not a plus because it makes you lazy and you get into a comfort zone. Being forced to learn Spanish and the culture offer a more rewarding experience. Gringo crime is higher on the north coast vs the south coast.

I have a home in Costambar that I hate to go to. It's boring there and you will need a car to stay there.

Here's my main beef about the north coast vs the south coast; Most people on the north coast are nosy and gossiping and watching gringo. On the south coast most people have an agenda and I can blend in because I look Dominican. I can arrive in Sosua tomorrow and by tomorrow night word will have gotten to Puerto Plata that I'm there. Motochonchos, girls in salons, girls on the street all send out an SOS that gringo has arrived. It's an efficient network. The south coast people don't care. It's always people on the north coast that do nothing but sit and watch and report. The north coast has become a full time hustle on gringo because of their familiarity with us.

I guess I will now be getting slammed by guys feeling I'm attacking their beloved north coast but guys like it easy and Santo Domingo is to hard. Puerto Plata was nice five years ago before people picked up on the gringo hustle. The girls were sweeter and would invite you to their homes for a meal and to hangout. Several guys from this board can vouch about hanging in the barrio in Puerto Plata and girls putting on their good clothes to come see the gringos. Nowadays you better be careful being a gringo in the barrio in Puerto Plata.

Cristals has some raggedy girls IMO. I've been there about 10 times and never wanted any girl there especially with those inflated prices.

In closing. The south coast is an adventure with unlimited opportunities if you aren't lazy while the north coast is just a gringo hustle with a taste of what was.

The only comparison of use to me is with other places like Puerto Plata.

When I immigrated here eight years ago I chose to live in Puerto Plata rather than Sosua or any other town and, although it turned out I did so for the wrong reasons, I have never regretted it. I would always advise single guys contemplating moving here permanently to choose Pto Pta. Better services, lower living costs, and wider choice of chicas for GFE.

However, that is a very different situation from mongers on a short trip (say less than three months). Newbie mongers and those without much Spanish are best advised to choose either Blackbeards or Sosua (or a combination of both if their stay is long enough).

Of course, as in all walks of life, if you have unlimited funds, the normal criteria do not apply. You could stay in a Pto Pta AI, take girls from Cristal and Kviar to cabanas, using private taxis, or patronize Field of Dreams. Some of our posters are in that happy position. But if those on a normal budget try to imitate them, they will come unstuck.

The original poster had posted a lot of "important info" and I believe Manizales who is a local resident, was merely pointing out a factual error (that I had wondered about and then ignored), should others be led to believe it because of a chest thumping claim of "eye witness" news, not that the error would impact a whole lot of Sosualites!

A new mongering report is a valuable commodity, ctrtiics are a dime a dozen!

Manz could have "augmented" the information without leaving a bad taste in my, and the posters, mouth!

Gentlemen, I am contemplating a trip to Sosua, but many reports are comparisons to the old days, which is not helpful. The only comparison of use to me is with other places like Puerto Plata.

Puerto Plata and Sosua are completely different. Sosua is small, compact, everything within a few hundred yards on foot. Sosua is very touristy, lots of hotels for you to choose from. Puerto Plata has limited choice of hotels and it is much harder, though not completely impossible, to meet chicas while walking around in the street or sitting outside bars. Puerto Plata has a few bars and clubs where you can meet chicas. Many of the chicas in Sosua live in Puerto Plata, and you can see them in the late evening catching public taxis outside the hospital in all their finery on their way to Sosua.
