Not to mention the thousands mowed down by citizens exercising their rights under the Second Amendment to fill their neighbours with lead.

Please! How many people died in road accidents over the weekend in the good ol' US of A or is it the fabled "exceptionalism" that makes even one disappearance noteworthy?

"Strange interaction" . Hilarious! Seems he fell in love with a chica and decided to give up his family and surfing as well.

    Off we go

Well, I'm heading out this morning. Reports when I get back, thanks again.

It is pretty loud at times until late in the morning when I was there last summer. I finally complained to the security guards and they had it turned down.

I just want to blend in and participate, I don't like to stand out. And I greatly appreciate all of the advice given to me thus far from you guys.
    Tips for blending in:

Hang out at breakfast at Casa Cayena. Many of the guests are regulars with many years of experience. You will learn a lot just listening.

Don't let yourself get tangled up with the girls on the street. It can be overwhelming, having a girl try to grab your arm every 10 feet. Just tell them no and keep moving. Most will get the hint after a few steps.

Same advice for the touts. Just tell them no when they try to sell you something.

Find a good spot and just watch and listen. You will quickly figure things out.

Pace yourself. The beer and the girls go down easy. No need to rush through your beer, or rush to grab a girl. If you're in a hurry, the price goes up and the quality goes down.

If the girl is in a hurry to get you out of the bar, she'll probably be in a hurry to get back to the bar. Take the time to find one with some chemistry.

See the town. Check out Sinatra's for a nice dinner and drunk Canadians doing bad karaoke. Take a moto up the hill and check out Castillo del Mundo King. Just tell them "El Museo" and point up the hill. You can get some good pictures for the people who won't understand your real reason for the trip. Go to the beach. Check out the little pubs and bars. A lot of ex-pats prefer the quieter spots.

Lastly, watch your step. You'll understand why when you encounter the first curb.

OK, I though you might be a professional photographer. Most people these days use cell phones to take pictures and don't bother with expensive photographic equipment unless they are enthusiasts. Anyway, enjoy your trip.

I always worry about posting on a forums cause people can take it so many different ways. No matter how well you try to word it to not offend anyone LOL. I honestly have no interest in photography and would never photograph or video the person without them knowing, that's against my moral code. I was just going to do it for the community here, I'd much rather live in the moment and enjoy it cause that's the kinda person I am. And I wouldn't post face pics. I treat all women with respect, no matter their profession.

I've got a room booked already so that's taken care of. I'm not interested in frat parties, just a little Bluetooth speaker to play some music is all I meant. Ill keep it low since I have a hotel now instead of apartment, no problem. In Brazil the girls enjoyed coming back, having a drink, talking and dancing, etc. I'm just going off my past experiences here, I'm in no way an expert on any of this.

I would agree with my learned colleague that a good personality trumps looks almost every time, though quite honestly I do not know how guys who don't speak Spanish are able to figure out these things.

If you want to take photographs, whether dressed or nude, or videos of the same, make sure in advance that the person involved is agreeable. Do not be surprised if you are asked for more money for photography. Some people have reported that girls they were with had no objection to photos, which is fine, but mileage may vary a lot on this topic.

Anyway, as a general point, I would focus more on the experience in the here and now than on making photographic records for posterity. Remember that you are in an intimate one-on-one relationship with an individual, so try to focus on her experience as well as your own.

If you are into photography there are plenty of interesting noncontroversial subjects for your camera, but just note that for some reason Sosua is designated as a "military zone" and you should not try to take photos of anything related to security, including police officers.

Wilfried will not allow loud music due to the nature of the layout, acoustics if the place and most importantly, past history of loud music guests at the hotel. I know Wilfried and have stayed there a lot and I can tell you this with high confidence. He might ask you to leave or turn down the music. He lives there too and does not take any bullshit. This has happened before.

IMO, you will be better off with an apartment. More freedom and more privacy. Particularly given 7 day trip.
