I forgot it's high season now, so room rates are a little higher.
I'm a fan of convenience. So that always is a factor for me. I also don't want to have to depend too much on others, so I avoid dealing with taxis and such when possible.
Motos are cheap and convenient all around Sosua, but you won't find them out in that area. That means calling a taxi every time you want to go to town. They'll probably start the pricing at $10-$20, but I'm sure you can get them down to $5, maybe less depending on your skills. How many trips to town you make is the question. I tend to get out about 4 or 5 times a day, so for me, it's cheaper in town.
Someone else might want to chime in on the wisdom of taking multiple girls back to a townhouse for an all night stay. It sounds like a recipe for an extremely expensive vacation.
We all do things our own way. In Sosua. I really want to see your complete and honest trip report.
Good luck.

I think I've heard enough. I'm currently trying to get a hotel downtown now, but like it was said, rooms are pretty booked up. But I think I may have one.
So where are the hot spots in Sosua? Best massage parlors, brothel types places, strip clubs, hip-hop / house music nightclubs, etc? Just trying to get an idea of the landscape since I'll be doing this mostly alone, and this will be my first time really roaming another country solo.

In my currency wouldn't he just be getting like an extra dollar or two out of me? Cause if so, that doesn't bother me much, he needs it way more than I do.
I plan on bringing more than one girl back to the room at a time on some nights and I'm not sure if the hotels allow multiple girls, or louder music? (not obnoxiously loud though). I'm the type to take the girls back to the room, turn on some music, pour some drinks, and party a bit with them and have them stay all night. I guess I just figured an apartment would be the best for possible nights like these, but nothing is set in stone yet.

Forget your crew in Puerto Plata, if they don't speak Spanish the only place for all of them is Black Beards and that gets old after two days, so they will be running to Sosua. If I was you I would cancel my reservations at SHR and get on the phone and book a hotel in Sosua ASAP even if they require a deposit (Standard procedure for big events and limited rooms). I see you left a good report after your Brazil visit so we look forward to your adventures. I will be on the island but I'm checking out some other spots but if I make my way to Sosua first drink is on you LOL.

If they have rooms, Casa Cayena is a good hotel, room rate includes breakfast and dinner, food is good and you're no more than 5 minutes walk from the action, 10 minutes to the main beach, or 2 minutes from the playa Alicia beach.
Across the street is Hotel El Rancho, good food, good location.
A little farther away, Hotel Plaza Europa has big rooms, nice pool area and it's nice and quiet at night.
Other options are:
Sosua Suites, within spitting distance of Rumbas, rooms are clean, but furnishings are a bit old.
New Garden Hotel, close to action.
Casa Valeria, close to action, good food.
Victorian House, supposed to be nice.
There are many other options. Almost every place in Sosua is chica friendly, many will keep her ID until you walk her out, and everything is a short walk away. If you don't feel like walking, there are motos everywhere who will take you for about 50 pesos.
AirBnB is probably a good option in a city, but Sosua is just a small town, with everything clustered in a small area. If you choose the AirBnB option make sure you verify their guest policy, in writing, before your trip. It's going to be a pain if you find out guests aren't allowed, or there's an extra charge, or only 1 guest for the duration of the stay.

One advantage of being in a group (and to me the only advantage) is that you can share the cost of private taxis. If you were paying $30 each way to travel alone between Pto Pta and Sosua by private taxi, that would soon mount up. But shared between four guys it is worth the extra cost over public transport.

Correction, I just got the Airbnb booking officially verified and got the actual address. The townhouse is not South in the "La Mulata 1" area, it's Northeast in the "Sea Horse Ranch" area. By Calle 2 and Cancha de Tennis.

Thanks. Seems pretty unanimous, Sosua it is. Even if I'm without the friends for a bit of the trip, I'll find a friend or two every day I'm sure LOL. I'm 28 from the US, I got a little experience with the ladies in Rio, Brazil last year. Good times. I'm sure I'll do fine either way. The townhouse isn't in downtown Sosua, it's a little further South back in the "La Mulata 1" area. Is that too far or okay? I would use Google Maps and do a "Street View" walk thru but it isn't available. If this was your first trip, knowing what you know now, how would you spend your 7 days / nights if you were staying in the same area as me. And how would you get back and forth from your place to the all the action day / night? I really appreciate the help. I will come back and leave reports like I did for my Brazil trip. Guaranteed.

If your friends are experienced with Puerto Plata, if they have a working knowledge of Spanish, they might do quite well. If not, they might be missing out.
Sosua is about as easy as it gets. Just about every hotel is chica friendly, rooms are cheap, starting at about $40/ night and everything is within walking distance. At night, the streets and bars are full of women. Just order a beer, sit down and they will come to you. All you need to do is pick the one you want and settle on a price.
Chances are, your friends will be coming to Sosua after a day or two.

Puerto Plata is different. Apart from Blackbeard resort there is no real foreigner friendly mongering place. There are strip clubs but it is hit and miss. There are local pick up places but they strictly for locals. Girls from PP come to Sosua to be picked up. You can walk everywhere in Sosua and there is a nice beach. Plenty of western owned or managed hotels and restaurants. You will not feel out of place even if you do not know a word of Spanish. If your friends know Puerto Plata very well and can find girls and have a good time then maybe you want to be near them.

So my friends booked this trip and I heard about it and decided to come also. But they had already booked their apartment. They are staying in Puerto Plata. Everything I read says that the best place to be in the DR for women is the Sosua area. So I am currently trying to decide between 2 apartments for myself. Should I get the one closest to downtown Sosua? Or the one close to them in Puerto Plata? Is there good nightlife in Puerto like there is in Sosua? Would it be difficult or expensive to travel back and forth to Puerto & Sosua almost everyday? We just want to be where the best looking and most working girls are. Any up to date info would be great so I can make this decision. Would love to hear what you guys would do.
