I'm 28 from the US, I got a little experience with the ladies in Rio, Brazil last year. Good times. I'm sure I'll do fine either way. The townhouse isn't in downtown Sosua, it's a little further South back in the "La Mulata 1" area. Is that too far or okay? I would use Google Maps and do a "Street View" walk thru but it isn't available. If this was your first trip, knowing what you know now, how would you spend your 7 days / nights if you were staying in the same area as me. And how would you get back and forth from your place to the all the action day / night? I really appreciate the help. I will come back and leave reports like I did for my Brazil trip. Guaranteed.
You are getting great advice from the guys on this board, but I think you are making a few mistakes. Seahorse ranch is terrible for logistics if you don't have a car. You will be there for the Superbowl weekend so you probably won't be able to get a hotel at the last minute if you change your mind and want to relocate to Sosua. The girls will be in hustle mode because of the event and will be asking for top dollar. And once they see a newbie staying solo in Seahorse ranch, the girls will come with their best games (They will think you are rich and gullible).

Forget your crew in Puerto Plata, if they don't speak Spanish the only place for all of them is Black Beards and that gets old after two days, so they will be running to Sosua. If I was you I would cancel my reservations at SHR and get on the phone and book a hotel in Sosua ASAP even if they require a deposit (Standard procedure for big events and limited rooms). I see you left a good report after your Brazil visit so we look forward to your adventures. I will be on the island but I'm checking out some other spots but if I make my way to Sosua first drink is on you LOL.

Is the townhouse incredibly cheap? Does it come with some special amenities like naked maids and a masseuse? If not, why would you stay there? It's about 3 miles from all the action in Sosua and except for walking out to the highway and flagging someone down, probably not a good idea at night, your transportation options to town are limited to walking or calling a taxi, and the taxi is almost guaranteed to overcharge. Walking isn't a big deal, but you're going to work up a sweat getting to town. Of course it's easy to catch a moto from Sosua back, it's just getting to town is a pain.

If they have rooms, Casa Cayena is a good hotel, room rate includes breakfast and dinner, food is good and you're no more than 5 minutes walk from the action, 10 minutes to the main beach, or 2 minutes from the playa Alicia beach.

Across the street is Hotel El Rancho, good food, good location.

A little farther away, Hotel Plaza Europa has big rooms, nice pool area and it's nice and quiet at night.

    Other options are:

Sosua Suites, within spitting distance of Rumbas, rooms are clean, but furnishings are a bit old.

New Garden Hotel, close to action.

Casa Valeria, close to action, good food.

Victorian House, supposed to be nice.

There are many other options. Almost every place in Sosua is chica friendly, many will keep her ID until you walk her out, and everything is a short walk away. If you don't feel like walking, there are motos everywhere who will take you for about 50 pesos.

AirBnB is probably a good option in a city, but Sosua is just a small town, with everything clustered in a small area. If you choose the AirBnB option make sure you verify their guest policy, in writing, before your trip. It's going to be a pain if you find out guests aren't allowed, or there's an extra charge, or only 1 guest for the duration of the stay.

I know of El Furgon and Charley's but the places change their names, you had mentioned. I am also interested in slumming. Love to hear your current recommendations (I plan to be headed that way soon) for the "locals" and thanks.

For once, I think we are all singing from the same hymn sheet. Impossible to advise in more detail unless we know more about you friends' plans and the Spanish abilities of you all.

Good post, Sammon, but I would amend "strictly for locals" to "strictly for those who can speak some Spanish" (or French for those like me homing in on haitianas). I was always made most welcome in those local places and found much better quality and more reasonably priced chicas there than in Sosua. Including the chica with whom I have been very happily living for five years. (I would slash my wrists before shacking up with a Sosua puta).

If his friends know how to tap into those sources he would be better off with them. If not, then in Sosua.

Why? If they have good reasons, it might sway your choice. If they just stuck a pin in a map, then no.

People's ideas of "best looking" vary. I don't know about the "most working girls" (remember Pto Pta is eight times the size of Sosua) but certainly the most easily accessible working girls for gringos are in Sosua. If your idea of "good-looking" is looking like a puta, then there are definitely more in Sosua.

I chose to live in Pto Pta rather than Sosua and have never regretted it. But Pto Pta would be very hard work if you have little or no Spanish.

It is different. It is aimed at middle-class Dominicans not gringos looking for putas. The exception is Cristal night club, which has a lot of attractive working girls, though over made-up and over-priced.

A dollar each way, thirty minutes center to center, by public transport. Very frequent 7 am to 12 midnight, thins out to once every half-hour in the small hours.

Not sure why you would want to do that, though. If your friends know what they are doing in Pto Pta you can have a great time there and no need to visit Sosua. But if they don't, why copy their mistake?

One advantage of being in a group (and to me the only advantage) is that you can share the cost of private taxis. If you were paying $30 each way to travel alone between Pto Pta and Sosua by private taxi, that would soon mount up. But shared between four guys it is worth the extra cost over public transport.

    Correction.

Correction, I just got the Airbnb booking officially verified and got the actual address. The townhouse is not South in the "La Mulata 1" area, it's Northeast in the "Sea Horse Ranch" area. By Calle 2 and Cancha de Tennis.

Depends on what's more important to you. Would you rather spend your time hanging out with your friends, or would you rather be getting laid?

If your friends are experienced with Puerto Plata, if they have a working knowledge of Spanish, they might do quite well. If not, they might be missing out.

Sosua is about as easy as it gets. Just about every hotel is chica friendly, rooms are cheap, starting at about $40/ night and everything is within walking distance. At night, the streets and bars are full of women. Just order a beer, sit down and they will come to you. All you need to do is pick the one you want and settle on a price.

Chances are, your friends will be coming to Sosua after a day or two.

Sousa is monger capital. Girls come from all over to earn money. Plenty of like minded people come to Sousa for fun.

Puerto Plata is different. Apart from Blackbeard resort there is no real foreigner friendly mongering place. There are strip clubs but it is hit and miss. There are local pick up places but they strictly for locals. Girls from PP come to Sosua to be picked up. You can walk everywhere in Sosua and there is a nice beach. Plenty of western owned or managed hotels and restaurants. You will not feel out of place even if you do not know a word of Spanish. If your friends know Puerto Plata very well and can find girls and have a good time then maybe you want to be near them.

    Stay in Sosua

In Sosua the action finds you. There is no need to look. Having a room in Sosua makes things very easy.

Very true. There is a whole lot of German (and I think Italian as well) fresh baked bread there as well as croissants etc. I do have to say that some German dark bread often smell of too much molasses but that is me.

If you mean the Price Smart in Santiago, yes, they need to see a membership card.

No it is just a supermarket. You are thinking of Price Mart in Santiago.
