Definitely second that. It's the easiest way to prevent pickpocketing.

Of course, I follow the other rules too, but you do have to always carry at least some cash, and one credit card. This doesn't prevent theft completely. If you flash a bunch of hundred dollar bills in public, they WILL go after you. But its like one of those bars across the steering wheel, or the ulock bicycle locks. Its not that it can't be done, but rather, the thief just goes after easier targets. I keep my wallet in the left thigh pocket, and my cell phone in the right. Since first being pickpocketed in France a long time ago, I have never been a victim again.

Just get one of those convertible cargo pants that can be turned into shorts. Of course, you won't get into high end bars or clubs. But for most venues, it will do.

I had a couple of girls in my car in Lauderdale. My wallet was in my back pocket and I had my hand on it at all times, well, mostly, LOL.

1. When you go to any foreign country change dollars into local currency.

2. It does not matter if you are into mongering or just a tourist.

3. Lock all valuable things you have including wallet in room safe.

4. Carry only enough local currency to cover your activities including drinks and food.

5. Never carry dollars. You do not need it.

6. Never get too drunk.

7. Not all girls are thieves. But given a choice they will steal.

8. Even if you are a victim, you will loose less money in local currency.

9. Once you are in the room with a girl, lock your left over currency in the safe. You can always get money to pay the girl from the safe when she leaves. I learned the hard way long time ago when one of my regulars stole 3000 pesos from my pocket when I was asleep. So I do not trust anybody anymore. Does not matter who she is.

10. If you are a victim, your whole mood is foiled not just because you lost money but a bad feeling that you cannot trust anybody.

I accuse her, and she says it was the girl before me.

So, what do I do? I can't prove it was her. There was the girl, right before her, but my hand stayed in my pocket the entire time. The girl who probably took it, looks rough, I'm in a foreign country, and speak very little Spanish. I decide to cut my losses, and get out of there.

It wasn't much money, but was more than I should have had on me. Chica money could have stayed in the room. It happened in a split second, never saw it coming. Never felt it happened. She was a pro. The grope distracted me, followed by the scuffle to change the topic. Most probably dontbnoticenthe money missing that quick. She attacked right after the first girl, to use her as an alibi. Doubt they were together, since first girl approached in Rumba earlier.

I liked your thoughts and I agree with all but I have one contrarian thought. There are assholes who are young just as much there are assholes that are old / older. Treating women with respect, no matter what they do for a living is something that is a learned behavior and if you have not seen such example in your young age, it would not come to you, younger or older.

That totally sucks, but it just shows that one should always be cautious and try to get away from aggressive chicas like this. It reminds me of a similar situation I faced the last time I was in Sosua. Was walking to my hotel by myself, it was after 2 AM I think and I was on the opposite side of the road from where Bailey's is (that split road area, where you can walk through that has a couple benches to sit down). Saw a group of 3 or 4 chicas approaching and they stopped me as I was trying to walk by and two started to grope me. One spoke very decent english, and I've seen her around Sosua. Her name is Vicky, and is from Santo Domingo. First time I saw her was at the corner bar (Bermuda) from Rumba's, she was clearly a pro and tried to get me to a buy her a drink despite telling her no several times. The age difference thing is true to a degree. But the context of where you are affects that.

My novia is about 25 years younger than I, and we've been together, on and off for about 8 years.

Context is everything. I never paid for sex before I turned 50. No need to do so. But if you are over 50 and the woman is attractive and under 25 there is always a quid pro quo. It could be cash for sex, ongoing financial support, a nice apartment, marriage, visa. Always something. And if you are poor you will not get it. I know a poor guy right now who is "dating" a female prison inmate.
