That is an option. Question though. If I am correct you live in the DR fulltime? Do you have funds directly deposited to your SB account from outside the country? Or do you make all of the deposits into your SB account yourself?

I did with ScotiaBank, no fees for withdrawals. A checking account is a different matter, expensive to use

FYI for anybody; Went to Scotia Bank today to open a savings account. They gave me a form explaining what the criterior is for a non resident.

1) Need a passport.

2) Your drivers license or some other form of I'd.

3) A reference letter from your bank in the states addressed to Scotia Bank (they need to know you for at least 2 years ).

4) And lastly, a reference letter from your landlord in the DR addressed to Scotia Bank.

I have not tried any other banks, so I do not know any other banks policy for opening an account when one is a non resident.

Will probably check out another bank next week.

You are correct Mapello's number is (809) 491-3024. Saw him at the exchange place next to M&M massage this morning. He lives there it seems. I asked him to verify the spelling of his name. M A P E L L O, is correct according to him.

BTW, I went to Banco Providential earlier this morning, they told me to come back at 2:00 or 2:30pm. Someone else confirmed that they usually cater to the exchange guys 1st, before anybody else. The rate they had posted for US was 43. 17. Down from 43. 52 that I got back in late February. The exchange place by Orange was 43. 05.
Since I didnt feel like waiting or being told they could only exchange a smaller amount, I exchanged 3k in US cash with the place by Orange with no problem or hesitation whatsoever.

For all the guys that have been around many chicas from the DR know that a lot of them are very curios to the stuff you have with you and do not mind using stuff like your hair brush to comb there hair. Which does not really bother me but I suggest that all mongers put that shit away. I have to say Sosua pretty easily for me. I still think BB for a couple days is a good idea for a first timer, especially if you're traveling alone. I think it also depends on the guy, I've said I speak very little Spanish, but if the chica is sexy I will dam sure try. Some seem to enjoy it, like a game, trying to communicate. I've met a couple guys that spoke no Spanish and were pretty timid, lucky for them they did have an experienced monger with them that spoke Spanish, if they came alone I would say BB for sure for them.

How much more did she deserve?

I probably would of gave her 1500 pesos total if I had change, but she seemed happy and wants to see me again so I'm worried about it. But I guess thinking about it now, if 500 truly was her original request, not sure, then 1250 was generous. There are some scammers here, but there also are some that go out of their way to make sure you are happy and pleased. I try to reward that, but have tried not to be a fool about it.

She stayed for about 3 hours and I enjoyed her company. But I had to fake it round 3 and probably shouldn't even attempted anyway. She showers and is ready to leave. She doesn't say anything about money, I give her $1250 rolled up, she deserved more but I didn't have change.

I'm quoting because oddly enough my first ever Sosua chica I pulled tonight had Bush. But I'll get to that in a second.

I checked out if BB today and was a little sad to leave as I had gotten comfortable in that setting, but I was getting bored. They knew nothing of the forum but 1 of them did have a previous trip under his belt. He kept telling his friends if Blackbeards is like the zoo we are about to go to the jungle with Sosua. After my first night I would say that's pretty accurate, not that it's bad but you just need to be much more aware of your surroundings that BB. I should also probably mention I know about 10 Spanish words total and had zero problems at BB.

I took a taxi over from BB (1700 pesos) and arrived at Rocky's. There was a slight communication problem with my reservation. I'm not placing blame, it was probably my fault. I thought I was staying at Sosua suites, he had me down for mary rose. Both places were fully booked so no worries, I'll make it work and rick seems like a good guy. I actually really like mary rose and the security I just wanted the proximity of sosua suites.

It's about 5pm and I walk around to check things out and get some dinner. It's already starting to pick up and the chicas are aggressive. I'll be damn, you tell them maybe later and they still remember your ass 5 hours later. I find Rocky's and have to try the ribs that everybody talks about. They were pretty good, I ate in peace and enjoyed the scenery of the chicas going in and out of the hair place next door. I finish up and decide to walk the strip some more. I check out rumbas and it was already kind if overwhelming. Oh what's with the pizza place next to the latins? He had some of the cheapest drink prices I've seen in sosua so far, he wants to add a simple food menu and serve until late in the night. That would be great because there isn't much down here late. Check him out, I hope he makes it.

Am I correct in thinking the "hotel across the street" was the short-term room above Bar Central? If that worked for you, then fine, but for a couple hundred pesos more you could use the cabana "Dulce Secreto" which you might find more comfortable. Cabanas are like motels renting for 2 to 4 hours specifically for brief sexual encounters.

Whats going on RR. I started traveling based on you and another member years ago. Bestmate. Only been to Thailand and Philippines but been going to Thailand every year sense 2003. I have never been to DR and would like to check it out as it is a lot closer. I'm in the SF bay area. I like the way you vacation. Nice and smooth. Can you give me a one week plan for Sosua from the bay area. Airline, hotels, eating spots, girl spots / prices. I'm not trying to spend a grip but I'm not no cheap chalie either. LOL.
