I have no idea what is going on with that shit. Same thing happened to me in Gascue Ordered the Uber for my girl. It was like 4 minutes. Showed him the next street over and it was 1 minute. Then he passed the street and it showed 6 minutes. Finally I canceled it and ordered another one. I put in for a refund for the 70 pesos it charged and they gave me a credit and used it for the next driver.

It was no problem using van

The vans are airconditoned and about 6 years old. The guys who drive are happy to accept everyones money. Airport employess and smart people use it. I have ridden 7 or 8 times with consistent good results. The Van has a final drop off near China town in SD. There are about or four stop during the ride to SD with riders stepping of. While if you have no spanish this could be an issue. However I have never had any problems using the vans, On my last trip I met a Venizulan new arrival fresh in the country. I gave her 20 US and wished her well. She was on her way to Bavaro looking for work at a resort.

Your post made me remember a couple points that could be helpful. When I arrived back in March I was waiting on an Uber on the top level but the time of arrival kept going from 1 minute to 6 minutes and back and forth. A taxi driver kept trying to tell me something but I waved him away thinking he was going to give me a tongue lashing about not catching a taxi. Then I started getting text messages from an Uber guy asking where I was. Then the taxi guy came over again and said Uber was having reception problems at the airport but I just waved him away again. Finally the Uber arrived and said it is a problem picking people up at the airport because of reception issues (well how did he eventually find me? He said I could cancel the Uber and he would charge me the same rate as Uber. I said there is a 70 pesos fee for canceling. I said I already paid and he shrugged his shoulders and took me to my destination. Maybe its a Dominican hustle they are running or maybe Uber is having app problems at the airport.

Now Zona Colonial has never been a problem for me as I have used it probably about 30 times since March. I even saw a portable Uber booth down by Segazona (Zona Colonial) where the employees wore Uber shirts and had note pads taking orders on a walk up basis. After 9 pm when going from El Conde to Boca Chica the Uber fare goes up to 800 pesos from 550 pesos earlier in the day, so the later it gets the more they charge.

Here is the fucked up part: When going from Boca Chica to Sd after 11 pm, there are no Ubers and it will show a Uber coming but they never arrive. I was able to get a taxi for 1200 pesos when all the other taxis were asking 1500 pesos and up. I'm thinking those Uber drivers log in but maybe log out to give airport passengers preference or they just don't want to come to Boca Chica late at night.

Now check this. A taxi from Boca Chica to SD costs about 1500 pesos late night but a taxi from Boca Chica to juan Dolio late night costs 2000 pesos and Juan Dolio is only 15 minutes from Bc whereas SD is about 40 minutes.

Old kool has no problem pushing the edges to save 100 pesos (which works out great for him), but I'm not sitting around waiting in the heat with luggage on arrival to save a few pesos. Just pay uber the 500 pesos and start your trip with a comfortable ride. Plus I'm not sure how the driver would feel if some rich gringo sat in the van with luggage taking an extra seat that could be occupied by some hard working Dominican. Even when I catch the bus from Juan dolio to SD I tip 100 pesos to the guy collecting money who stores my luggage in the back to preserve the seating on the bus. Those busses run every five minutes so they would be more appreciative of a tipping gringo with luggage.

You can get around that if you are driving, and the location has a parking garage with an elevator that goes to your floor. Another thing you have to keep in mind is that the apartments have neighbors, normally families, that didn't sign up for tourists partying and running hookers in an out at all times of the night. I have used them for the past couple of years, and I haven't had a problem, BUT I'm not running a bunch of hoes in there either. I use cabanas for that. I bring my main chica in with no problems. I'm not saying that you are going to be doing any of these things, but if you want to bring a bunch of hookers into your room, then a hotel is probably the best option.
Sound advice. You are basically renting someone's home, respect their shit. I have a loft I rent for 50 usd a night a block from el conde that is plush. I only take special girls there, otherwise if I want to sport fuck street girls I use Mystic for 40 a night or a cabana.

Appreciate the input! I'm not looking to bring in new girls every day, so sounds like this could work for me. Thanks again.

Are AirBNB's guest friendly in Santo Domingo?

Wondering if anyone has tried bringing ladies up to AirBNBs in Santo Domingo. Looked around the forum and surprisingly didn't find any mention of this.

Last time I was in Santo Domingo I stayed at the Hotel Casona Dorada. It was completely guest friendly, but I still hate the eyes on me when bringing a girl through the lobby area. Plus the AirBNBs are often nicer and half the price of a hotel (at least that's very often the case in Colombia).

On the whole you will find much less of that than in Brazil and Colombia. The recent increase in Venezuelans is making it more common but you don't see nearly as much of it.
