I like the DR but not because there are loads of beautiful women because in fact there are not. Open your eyes and be objective for a minute. Anyone that thinks the DR has lots of hot girls hasn't gotten around.
The DR is:
Fun
Cheap
Easily accessible
Good for mongering
NOT the best place for eye candy
All this is just my opinion of course.

Mongering, yeah. Santo Domingo Cosmopolitan like you would not imagine. Forget Puerto Rico and Miami. Jaososua knows what I am talking about. There is money, there is class and world DJ's.

When I took Jao to Santo Domingo, he hated it. Well, he took me. Dominican Republic is the next Switzerland. Forget about Sosua(yes the hatian *****s are there). Go to Bufeo.com, and the rest of the Dominican Repubic where there are beautiful women.
Dominican Republic is the birth of Americas(first European settlement in the Americas)

n.
1. A biennial Eurasian plant (Daucus carota subsp. sativus) in the parsley family, widely cultivated as an annual for its edible taproot.
2. The usually tapering, elongate, fleshy orange root of this plant, eaten as a vegetable.
3. A reward offered for desired behavior; an inducement: "Yennifer has been “modeling” the "carrot” for the last 2 days and now putas want to know how they can earn a “carrot” as well. So I tell them, I have enough “carrots” to go around and I’m more than willing to spread the love."

My last 15-20 trips, I have rented with Alamo/National. Rates are usually about 40 dollars per day (cheaper if you rent the really small car). The 40 dollars includes the third party liability insurance and I usually pay the 3 dollars per day for the glass/tire coverage. I make the reservations online and I receive a confirmed price (I always print out a copy of the reservation that has the price on it, in case someone at the car rental place tries to overcharge me, I can show him the price from the printout of the reservation).
The cheapest car that Alamo has is a manual transmission Chevy Spark (made in Korea or China). Good little car.
Another member has posted that Adventure Rent a Car takes cash. They have a webpage on the internet. If you rent with Adventure Rent a Car, appears they don't have an office at the sdq airport. You would have to call them or send them emails asking about their procedures for arriving passengers at sdq airport. They most likely would send someone to meet you at the airport and that person would take you to the Adventure rent a car office, to do the paperwork and receive the car.
There are coupon codes that you can use to save money on the car rental. I would suggest paying the extra 5-7 dollars per day and get the third party liability insurance (in case the vehicle comes in contact with a person).
San Cristobal is an easy drive. There are two roads that go to San Cristobal from Santo Domingo. You can just go straight, west, on the malecon (35 minutes from Melia Hotel, near pasteur and malecon). The other road you get from Avenida 27 de Febrero soon after Plaza de Banderas. The road from Avenida 27 de Febrero, I was told is faster. If you take the malecon to get to San Cristobal, there is a part that becomes an elevated roadway, near that area you will see about 10 cabanas, about 2 minutes after that, there is a 30 peso toll (try to keep loose change in the car, there is a sign at the toll plaza saying they won't give change for large bills, so try to have some 50 or 100 peso bills with you). Coming back to Santo Domingo using that same road there is no toll.
