I arrived to Santo Domingo in the early morning. I observed for the first time in 20 years that cab drivers were also on the second level. It should be because Uber drivers usually recommends its customers to wait them in that area. Two cab drivers were aggressive trying to get my business but my Uber driver arrived fast and we left the area.

Uber is a game changer. Those cab drivers charge anywhere from $30 and up to take you to the capital. I've seen twice people get charge $60. There's no need to get your Uber driver number for future pick ups from the airport. When you arrive just use the app and pick what's available for you in five minutes or less.

Cab ride from the airport to Boca Chica $20 and up. Uber 233 pesos. Less than five dollars.

I arrived to Santo Domingo in the early morning. Customs took only 2 minutes. The food court in the arrivals area of the airport is under remodelation. I went up to the second level. A Banreservas booth was working at 7:30 am, they were paying 50.75 pesos per dollar. I decided to wait until arriving to zona colonial and went to Frank el Azuano, he was paying 51.50. Franks has been my money exchange house since 1998. I observed for the first time in 20 years that cab drivers were also on the second level. I observed the minivan mentioned by Oldkool was there just across the street on departure area.

I did not sleep last night so I was sleeping in route to hotel Palacio. The Uber driver woke up me and we were in front of Palacio Presidencial, he was confused about what Palacio to go. I can't avoid laughing about it and directed the driver to the Hotel. The ride was barely over 500 pesos, a little over $10. I arrived to the hotel after 8:00 am And of course my room was not ready. I walked like a zombie to Pacos (Grands) for breakfast, the coffee helped me getting a little more alert. Three guys at a nearby table were talking about the victory of Puerto Rico over Iran on FIBA world cup and when one mentioned that he was from my same town I decided to join their conversation. We had a great time. One of the guys is married in Puerto Rico but he has a house in Nagua with a local wife. They showed me pictures of their ladies, they were hot. I got my room by 10:00 am. Finally! I slept untl 3:00 pm To be continued.

Any information on hotel Hispaniola and casino, used to stay their lots; years ago, hotel not girl friendly, but they had what they called garden rooms on ground floor; that were girl friendly, are they still? At one point they even had a massage place right next to the pool that offered extras, was a great set up, any recent information on this hotel? Brings back lots of good memories at this hotel, thanks!

Curious to what your qualms with a married woman are. What is so magical about a married woman that you are scared away? What if the chick just has a boyfriend, fiance, or is in the process of getting a divorce? Need to know Uber is on point cheap and fast. 100 peso is a long trip.

I am down to visit the clubs even if I don't pull anything, it sounds like a good time regardless. I am also curious about the Rumba Bar? What exactly is it? Are all the girls there down for P4P or are they semi-pros and its up to them if they are down with you? I am definitely going to be on top of my online game. I am going to try Dominican Cupid. Is Tinder big down there? Any other online sites worth signing up for?

The regular clubs in Santo Domingo have the hottest chicks. I agree it's not point and click, but it should not be. I do fine in the regular clubs, but not saying one night stands, but I meet and hook up with regular chicks in the clubs all the time. A lot of people are not prepared. Communication is important, learning to dance, being in shape. It's no different than a regular club in the states. I heard it said best on this forum somewhere if you cannot pull a hot chick where your from than it's not easy to do it away in a regular club. Most think because they are a gringo and come to the DR they should be able to go anywhere and pull a hot regular chick when in all honesty they cannot do it back where there from. It takes effort and chicks love a confident dude. Aqua is the new hot spot. Me personally I do not like to settle I want the dimes and the regular clubs are where they are at. You going to pay regardless just not a point and click scenario. I see it all the time gringos come into a regular club just stand there look out of place and do not fit in. That is all on you.

I concur. I've been to the club scene at least 4 times throughout my six-year ventures. I would not recommend it for a solo traveler. Clubs in Santo Domingo are not pick up spots. It's very loud and everybody is into themselves. Chicas do not go to the club looking for P4 P. They are in Groups and are usually accompanied by men. Every time I go with High Hopes I always seem to get disappointed. I'm in my 40's now so I don't see myself returning to that young scene.

I agree with most comments that have been said, but he mentioned going to a club and meeting a chick. Santo Domingo is a whole different animal when you talk about the club scene and meeting chicks. You do not have a whole lot of brothels in Santo Domingo, it's about getting out and meeting chicks. The club scene is not P4P where you walk into a regular club and say how much to a girl. You will pay sooner or later, but it is not point and click. My thing is the hottest chicks in Santo Domingo go out to the nightclubs. It is on you to have it together not hoping they like you. Most dudes are not really prepared to do well in that environment. They refuse to be in shape, they go to the island for years, but cannot put a sentence together in Spanish, they cannot dance and are unable to properly communicate to chicks in a club environment. The club scene in Santo Domingo is about confidence and abilities if you have those things you will meet chicks out and everyone know chicks like a confident dude in the DR. Someone said it best on this forum of you cannot pull hot chicks where your from then you are not going to do it when you go somewhere else. Santo Domingo is not point and click, but you have it together you can do well in the club scene, but you have to work at it and be prepared. That's where the hottest chicks hang out in Santo Domingo. That is a whole group you leaving on the table. Quorum nightclub on a Friday night is full of top talent and Aqua nightclub is hot all the time now. On you to figure it out, but it can be done. Trust me on that.

After living in Medellin and Pereira from May to August, I started to really miss my DR girl so I planned a trip. Damm Gogo you are trading in perfect weather for fucked up weather in the middle of summer. BTW I will do a Medellin / DR comparison in the Gogo forum soon.

Booked the non stop from Orlando to SDQ for 150 usd one way on jet blue. My return trip I booked once I had my exit date for 207 usd on jet blue. Basically 350 usd non stop round trip.

Arrived SDQ At 7 am and walked to the upper level, departure and waited. Usually I stand there with a 500 pesos note in hand waiting to move quickly when the taxi dropped off but after 10 minutes nada. Damn, the porters pointed to the small mini bus sitting at the top entrance so I walked there and asked "Santo domingo" and he said yes. That's l I needed to hear, I will figure the rest out. It was 6 of us in the mini van and it cost 70 pesos. But he didn't go to Parque Independencia so I got off at Avenida Venezuela and did Uber for 166 pesos.

My boy (also from DC) purchased a beautiful spot on the malecóand just steps from the ocean so I booked his place. With all the negative press about the DR lately, I have been getting great deals on flights and accommodations. A colomado is there and a park also as the condo sits two blocks east of Napolitano on the malecón. Hit the colmado for water, juice and presidente light. After stocking* the crib did a walk through el conde as I waited for my girl at Nacional grocery store. Frank's is the spot to exchange money on el conde but pay attention. It's 51.25 pesos to the US dollar but he gave me a receipt for only 51 then acted surprised when I pointed to his board that said 51.25. Hit Petras for food and had a beer at Pacos.

My girl finally arrived at 6 pm when she said 4 pm but I expected such. She does her usual girlfriend moves. She brings two bags full of clothes, a bag full of shoes, and two purses. We go to the condo and she plants her traps. See she marks her territory by making sure she let's any other female know that I got to girl. The shit is kind of funny to me because she plays detective and is very good at it or I'm a very bad perpetrator* because she usually busts me eventually. From unusual hairs on the floor, to finding used condoms I've hidden in the bottom of the bathroom trash can, to any clothes that have been tampered with. I've been busted so many times by her that I'm on* constant probation so I just mainly fuck her as I have been for the last 4 years. Plus she serves it up right and raw so no raggedy strays come to the crib, cabanas are only 300_400 pesos and it preserves the condo. We hit Venezuela and partied there and finished on el Conde but it was late and everything was closed except Pacos but never go to Pacos after 10 pm unless you are looking for something different. ** My girl is older (37) but taps an inner youth when with me. She glows as we finally get home and she gets ready to play. I'm tired but she always gets me in the mood so it's no biggie.

A woke the next morning trying to figure out how to evict her with dignity so I tell her I'm hanging with the fellas today and I will walk her to the bus station at 11 am, and she is OK but says that word a special way Gooogooo. Damn here comes the money pitch. I expected it but I always give her half of what she requests until she comes with another plan.

Ditched her and hooked up with the fellas and we hit agora mall over my objections because I like the ghetto mall mega central. But let me tell you I was on a roll at agora as the girls must have thought I was Vin Diesels brother. Mostly light skinned Dominicans but I pulled light and dark. My boy stayed in Naco down the street so I acted like I stayed in that area and was a first timer. It took all of two hours to have two girls from the mall at his place.

BTW the malecón is nice if you got a girl or a family. Ferris wheels, food, carts very nice SD. I heard it's a 110 million face lift but I only saw maybe 50 million, go figure. Only in*.

The DR.

For girls there are two private discreet Casas full of Venezuelan girls in the zona colonial / malecón area. The park just east of hotel Napolitano has girls but mostly drug Addicts. El conde still has girls and it's a great show to post up there late at night and hunt. Boca chica was very slow, many girls wanting to come see me in SD just to get a client. PAart 2 later.

It just depends on your flow. A lot of guys on here use dating sites. If your comfortable look the part then clubs are always my preference. Being solo is not a problem. Venezuela is safe to go too just move cool and confident. But, you need to fit in with a cool hip crowd. Can you do well in that environment. Communication could be an issue if you do not speak Spanish. Most people buy a bottle and fit in. Are you willing to do that. Rumbas across from Barcelo Hotel has a potential option to meet chicks when they are not working. Also, hottest club right now in Santo Domingo is Aqua nightclub:

They do not seem to be pickup spots. No Spanish makes picking up girls much harder. There are girls who will pick up a tourist on the slide in the colona zona if the tourist approaches and can manage. I did not enjoy the clubs when I was alone. There was almost no mixing of the crowd. The internet site can be good way to get company in SD.
