But honestly, I don't know how some people who actually claim they are veterans can continue to say that Santo Domingo este / Santo Domingo is hard to monger in. Your report illustrates the opposite. You hit the ground. Busted your nut. Saw sights. Had good food. Busted your nut again (BBBJCIM&COF) and didn't have to go to Sosua or Boca Chica to do it. Nor did you have a strong command of Spanish. The only reason that you didn't find Casa Azul was inaccurate information on the map. But now everyone has better information to work with. If that does not prove that you don't need to be a "veteran" to hire a prostitute in Santo Domingo I don't know what will. Easy is just that. Easy! It does not mean better.

While I agree that Santo Domingo offers way more for the hobbyist (one with balls!) Sosua has its charms. It's just a different experience, apple vs orange. Sosua has a nice beach, and is very relaxed. SD is a big unfriendly city.
They are only a four-hour bus ride apart, so my solution is generally to do both in the same trip.

That said, Santo Domingo is really a hidden goldmine. It's certainly more difficult to navigate than most mongering destinations. But if one can put up with all the bullshit, he will be rewarded handsomely. I applaud Pokeris for his boldness in jumping right in, even more so since he doesn't speak much Spanish.

There are much better beach options in many different locations in the Dominican Republic. If you have the ability to communicate you can pull girls from any where you happen to be in the Dominican Republic. Bored in Sosua? Never heard that said in ten years here. Some guys say the talent has dropped off and other say they miss certain venues but never heard a guy say he is bored in Sosua. I concur with Grownman, but understand you will pay big to change your flight out of SDQ to POP at the last minute if that's your plan (Might be worth it considering the logistics of SD verses Sosua). Once you hit Sosua for the first time you will be hooked. Leaving Sosua as a newbie and going to SD will be a big let down. SD takes many visits to get the hang of, whereas Sosua everything finds you from the get go.
