Stayed at Santo Domingo several times in Feb with my fellow dude. Stayed at the Boutique Hotel Palacio, as usual. Still a good value, chica friendly and they keep a copy of the chica ID, which is safe. They have a private parking too, next to the hotel, which is very convenient in this area.

We mainly spent our days at the terrace of the El Conde Penalba hotel, in front of the Parque Colon. Best place to see people and chicas passing by. We found it better than Paco's. Sunday afternoon is very pleasant there, as it seems to be the weekly meeting of all musicians. Every Sunday at 6 pm, don't miss the free open-air concert at the Ruinas de San Francisco, in the zona colonial. Salsa, merengue, bachata. All dominicans go there, including groups of young chicas. Very friendly athmosphere, and if you know how to dance and speak spanish, phone numbers can be taken very easily.

This time, we didn't visit the casas, as we didn't need to. Regular and SW easy to get.

Reporting back after my two weeks in early February and the DR. Flew into Santo Domingo and of course had to haggle with the Uber drivers. Any newcomers I suggest downloading the app inDriver. You can negotiate rates with the drivers and save yourself a lot of money. I stayed in Boca Chica the first 2 nights at the hotel Valentina. Nice rooms & Chica friendly. I suggest checking out Piano Bar on Duarte. I've pipelined ahead of time on DC, but soon found Tinder was a much better option. Actually, did not do any SWer's on my whole trip.
