I just left Grands (pacos) five minutes ago because I had a newbie and I wanted him to see the circus but I wouldn't recommend messing with any of those skanks. Most are thieves, crackheads and no good. But the rest of your post I agree with. There is also a new express bus that leaves Carib tours SD on the half hour for an express to Sosua. The bus ends in Charmicos not Sosua. It's only a 200-300 pesos cab ride to Sosua.

Thinking about booking a last minute trip to the DR if the travel restrictions from the UK are relaxed from next week and Colombia is still on the red list.

I much prefer the big city to the beach but not into finding girls online, like doing it in person.

Been reading the forum and it seems like most of the clubs / bars like Mixer, Paris etc are filled with regular women, are there any clubs or bars that are filled with freelancers?

If not I will probably spend a few days in SD to see the city etc then head to Sosua.

Are there any buses that go from SDQ airport directly to Sosua or Puerto Plata; or do I have to take a taxi to Caribe tours bus stop?

Caribe Tours has a station called Santo Domingo Las Americas as you can see below, which is about a 10 minute ($3/4) ride on Uber from the airport. You can find a bus that takes you to Sosua from there without having to enter the chaotic city. Check the schedule to find a ride that adheres to your flight arrival etc; the rate is not 430 pesos but 450 pesos ($8). This timetable states it takes 4 hours but it is easily 4. 30 based on my experience of last week.

Thinking about booking a last minute trip to the DR if the travel restrictions from the UK are relaxed from next week and Colombia is still on the red list.

The bus does not go directly it makes 2 or 3 stops but is o ly 10 bucks and will take 5 hours but is a pleasant ride. Bring a jacket. The air condition is frigid. I do it all the time. Bring water and a snack take a nap and you are there.

Fellas didn't mean to start any jousting regarding the club seen. Just mentioning another other vibe to do in SD. I also occasionally also like to visit: Merca Santo Domingo, Avenida Duarte and Coliseo Gallistico Santo Domingo.

Clubbing in the DR is not to meet other people. Groups of friends go out to dance and socialize with each other. They do not interact with other Dominicans.
Very much. Even a gold plated gringo has little shot. We are used to going where the putas are so we assume that all the women are of that mentality. After spending time in Boca Chica and Sosua you assume all the chicas you see are point and click. This far from the truth.

As a general rule, old guys with means have very little trouble competing with "the twenty and thirty something dudes" in the DR. I have been to several clubs in the DR, as despite my age I have nothing to be ashamed of (and hope springs eternal).

My belief is that the chicas in the clubs are typically from rich families, and don't care about my money. When money fails, charm can often win the heart of a young woman, but it is hard to be charming in a foreign language with 95 dB background noise. A few pros can occasionally be found in some of the clubs, but in general the clubs are not fertile hunting grounds.

You have very correctly identified the reasons and the uselessness of going to fancy "clubs". Rightly stated, those places are frequented by people with money (often in dollars. Often times of questionable provenience) and is dedicated to flashing blings. Most of us at a certain age, knows the futility of such inane gestures. The people that go there are also in company of others and are not looking for anyone. Language may or may not present a barrier while the decibel level certainly is. The other day, I was at a beach when some creeps started using their vehicle with humongous speakers to play their music. I had to call the cops, it was so atrocious and hurting to the ears.

Having said that, I remember a man who probably was in his 70's (at least 7 years back) in a well known Santiago club called Lovera, who had a very beautiful young Santiaguera in his arms dancing to soft music. The man was a good looking white man, dressed classy and was not with any other male. I certainly envied him but that definitely did not look like the "wham bam, thanks maam" scenario which most of us here are for.

You have to be willing to rub shoulders with the locals. Speaking spanish and being confident is required. SD has some great airbnb options. Most girls love netflix are thrilled to have warm shower and air c netflix iondition. Layiing next to pretty girl while watching netflix is a good night.

I usually do the movie and casino scene.

Under fifty but my party days are behind me. I do the Netflix and' Chill thing too. If I do something with a favorita (after a all night fuck fest) I do something in the day usually the beach.

if you liked Mixler you'd dig the Club at the Hotel W&P. Hell the restaurant there is good too but the Club upstairs had some of the most beautiful women I've seen on the Island.
