I used Uber in Santo Domingo about a month ago. Interestingly only payment option available for me was cash. I paid cash twice without any problems. Maybe reinstalling appliacation can help you solve your problem.

The first thing I did was try to reinstalled the app. That didn't work because my profile and picture came back up once I opened the app. I don't see an option for me to pay cash as I did before. The only options they gave me was by Visa card on file and PayPal. Both of these options could not be processed. Kind of Irritating because it showed me that Uber drivers were in the area.

Does anyone know of a block they have with the Uber app at the airport. I'm trying to get a ride however none of my methods of payment are working. And I remember this app used to have a cash method of payment but is now not an option. I'm not going to pay these guys $20 to take me to Boca chica when I know Uber charges 250 pesos.

Visa / Mastercard also work. I believe drivers get to choose whether or not they accept cash. It might have been that no cash accepting drivers were in the area at the time.

PayPal doesn't work as method of payment in Uber app in DR. American Express does work as a method.

Spent some time in the DR recently and I will add a few experiences.

Boca Chica. Plenty of action at night on the main strip. Not Sosua level but lots of fun nonetheless. I like the beach with all the bars and restaurants right on the beach. I didn't want to leave!

Santo Domingo. Met girls on Calle El Conde at night and Onnos nightclub. Seems a lot were working down near the park by the historical buildings, or just walking up and down the street. I was eating at a table outside a restaurant and a hot chick with a killer body walked by with a few friends. We made eye contact. She smiled, I waved and she came over. Spoke a bit of English, and gave me her WhatsApp. I called her to my hotel later. She was awesome!

I met a few girls from Dominican Cupid but honestly I was more satisfied with the random meetups I encountered. Keep in mind so many girls on DC says they are looking for a relationship, but they are really looking for business. Or maybe that's what they will take. It's just hard to tell.
