So the distinct possibility exists that when someone speaks highly of the Dominican Republic they may be expressing a personal preference that may not have anything to do with the actual location. Really that's interesting, because I read the posts of many here that seem to be enjoying themselves enough to not only visit but live here. But I'm certain we are talking to different people and that does not surprise me.
