A couple of days later on our way back we encountered them again. When we slowed down and he saw who we were, they waved us through without even stopping. I guess he said I don't want to try to deal with them cheap mfs again. Now whenever I see him in that spot I throw him a peace sign as I ride past.

I have been stopped and ask for money in Santo Domingo in a rental car by the police, as well as Sosua at a road block. One time driving from Santo Domingo to Sosua on the main highway just east of Nagua in a van with 5 other guys, two guys in army fatigues blocked the road with large rifles and ask for propina to pass. We all gave them money, scared the hell out of all of us. Kind of took the fun out of the trip. Be safe out there, you are in a third world country.

What do you mean, we are not innocent in these encounters? Whats innocence got to do with anything? What games are you talking about? Are womens disadvantages playing the game out weighing a mans?

You say the guy initially appeared to be cheap. By whose standards? The guy said in the outset that he paid money upfront before she even got there. Isn't that what you say you do too? Then he paid for the chica and her aunt to eat. You knew that information from the very beginning. So just from that information that you knew, when did he become cheap? You never knew how much he sent her. So why would you go there?
You don't have to give me justification or excuses of these chicas lives. Just stick to the issue. You jumped to assumptions and / or conclusions about the dude before digesting the information that he provided initially. 1st thing you could have asked since spending money on chicas is so important to you, is how much did he send her before she came? Then you could have asked how much he paid for all of the expenses towards her and the aunt. Is there something that prevented you from inquiring about that before assuming he might be cheap?
What is so hard about getting facts and details straight before assuming wrongly about what someone posts on these boards?

I can not understand what someone's economic status has to do with anything regarding how much money you give them for sex or any product or service. Please explain how you got the two twisted. By your logic we should give a first world escort less because they are better off.
It doesn't matter what you see yourself as. The definition will hold true regardless. So because the White lady Rachel Dolezal sees herself as Black and not White it means that she really is not White, even though her own White parents says she is?

All of the times that I have gotten pulled over except for 1, it has been by the National Police, who mind you, can not give out citations. AMET is the authority that gives out the citations. The National Police is there for crimes, not traffic offenses. Even the time I totalled a rental car that I was driving, the National Police showed up first. There were about 6 of them in the truck. The only thing they could do was push the car out of the road. They said for anything else I would. have to wait until the AMET guy arrived.
Only in Santo Domingo do I get pulled over like this. It does not happen in Boca Chica, Punta Cana, Higuey, Sosua, Puerta Plata, Santiago, Bonao, Nagua, La Vega, Moca, or any place else.
Even Gogo can attest that my first time meeting up with him years ago, I was escorted by the police because they had pulled me over earlier saying I ran a light in a place where there was not even a light. I would not give them money right then so they escorted me to where he was before giving my license back and that is when they asked for money outright but I still did not give it to them so they left.

As far as a chica getting her hair done or the cost of transpo? That is usually an exaggerated story / excuse just to get the gravy train on track. What they are hoping to do, is get the guy to totally ignore that initial expense, and to see it as something necessary for her to look her best when she comes. But that's all bullshit. If the dude is guilty of anything, what he did was take a chance on paying partially for services / company he hadn't received yet. She may not have been looking at his initial expense as partial payment, the meals for her and her aunt, and the extra money to get home as full compensation. But that is her problem if she doesn't see it that way.
If we are the ones that rule because we have the so called GOLD, then why can't we fucking act like it? We can't allow chicas to dictate what's enough compensation. Or manipulate us and discount our offerings and contributions to their comfort as nothing. Maybe this is why so many chicas expectations are so out of fucking control now. Because of muggs overpaying every time they feel special being around some chica. Once you start the cycle of emotional over paying, you can't just back off. And as we know it, some guys are afraid to change up. Because they probably think the chicas will bail on them, and / or not prioritize them for their next visit. That's not a man in control. Of his GOLD.

I rarely agree with Mr free pussy E. And WRX I think you have always been a bit paranoid when it comes to the chicas. No offence intended. When you leave Sosua not every girl is out to rip you off. Their poverty is no joke. They use what they have to improve their lives. This often is their good looks and sex. They are human beings and have pride and dignity. They often do not see themselves as Putas. Do you guys see yourselves as tricks. The gentlemen who generousity was questioned initilally appeared cheap. He later explained the additional expenditures he made. All of us who enjoy this activity know there is a price to pay exception MR E.
Sure there are chica who try to milk it and many who are straight. However they have no power to makre you give them a dime. I never blow up becaause a chica asked for money. I just say no and keep it moving. We are certainly not the innocent in these encounters. They play games and we play games. I have had relationships with some ladies 7 years.

Posts: 1348Like others. There is a pattern of overpaying here in the DR. And like many, they have associated their experiences into a monetary value, and what it represents to THEM. Especially how it relates to somewhere else where it may cost more. But the problem with that is, how one particular individual sees or feels things does not necessarily represent how others ( including the overpaid chicas ) should feel or embrace it, just because they do.
All those on this board and elsewhere lamenting about how poor many of these women are, and know how low the average monthly income is for locals, should not be calling anybody cheap or names for the things guys do with or for them. Its way more than any local man is doing for them. And there is no reason to pay more for something when paying enough will do.
You send a chica 2500 pesos before hooking up with her. Pay to feed her and another person, arrange for food to be taken back, give her more money than necessary to return home. So just because that guy doesn't over pay a chica at YOUR rate, he's supposed to be cheap?
I think both the aunt and the chica should feel blessed that they were well compensated by DR standards. What else did they have going on that day, than coming to meet a gringo to extract from? If the trip wasnt worth it, then they shouldn't have come. Did it ever occur to some of you, that the chica was trying to take advantage of the guy, after all the stuff he did with them that day? And the high probability that she was lying about an urgent need for 5000 pesos, only after she got home.
Did she approach any of the local men she fucks with some story of needing 5000 pesos? You know, I know that having sex with a woman does not have to cost more than what's enough. Anything more, is a hustle, or an emotional knee jerk reaction.
I'm with Mr E on this one. I don't know why certain men try to act like these are little innocent children. And think that they have some sort of pride to protect and can't speak up for themselves. They sure don't have any problems lying their asses off. Sending bogus pictures and shit. Thats a bunch of horseshit. Them muggs can be more ruthless in character than you muggs give them credit for. Paying a chica $100 usd a day to me is like paying a taxi $100 for a $30 taxi ride. Why should anyone feel the need to pay $70 more for something when it is not required, nor will it guarantee anything more, or anything special?
Just because I'm emotional and keep making comparisons of some other place, I should feel grateful and pay more? Unchecked emotions in this game clouds judgement. Paying what's enough is intelligent. Paying more just because I am emotional, and being self righteous about paying more, especially towards others, is not.

Posts: 3053Yikes. My white Canadian buddy and I got pulled over in a rental last year and wound up paying them 500 P just to get rid of them. One time a cop in Sosua asked me for money just walking around. I ignored him and walked off pretending I did not understand. I don't like the cops in the DR or anywhere for that matter but if it seems like it will escalate do what they say.

Maybe you have not heard about the case in Sosua a few years ago where top brass were locked up for robbing German expats that live there?

The difference is that had I been pulled over in the US then it would have been for a legitimate reason and I would cooperate. When you know you have done nothing wrong and know their angle it is a different ballgame. Would you just recommend a person allow themselves to be extorted by these bullies as you have put it? Where would the line be drawn? Should a person offer them 1000 pesos? What if that is not enough? 1000 dollars maybe? Or just have your bank wire 10000 dollars to each of them. And if that is not even enough, then what?

Posts: 4026This is good advice. I hope Mr. E and others heed it. It's important to give the police a way to save face and exit the situation with their dignity intact. Displays of anger or bravado toward them will not help you. You never want them to feel embarrassed or disrespected. It takes a bit of experience to strike the right balance between standing up for your rights without going over the line. Yelling and challenging the police is going over the line. They are not the ones you want to use to work off your aggression.
