I decided to check out the Intercontinental's "official" guest policy by e-mailing. In my e-mail, I tried to be somewhat vague but definitely give the person an idea about what I was talking about. I was specifically direct at the end. Here's my e-mail:

Hello: I will be coming to Santo Domingo in July and I plan on staying at your hotel. I will be traveling alone, but I may be meeting some girlfriendsin Santo Domingo. What is your hotel's guest policy? Can guests come up and stay the night? Is there a fee? Can more than one girl come upat a time?

Regarding our Visitors Policy, we accept two (2) people registered in oneroom. They need to be registed upon your check in. If you like to registerone (1) extra person, we will charge you US$25.00 plus 26% of taxes pernight (you will need to register the extra person upon your check in aswell, in order to be allowed to go up to your room).

If you are more than three (3) people, I would suggest you to rent an extraroom.

Please let your guests know that they will need to show a legalidentification upon their check in.

What I really want to know is if the casinos are crawing with semi-pros working at the backjack table or if Piloto simply has the charm it takes to take home non pros working at the casinos....

I've been with quite a few pro/semi pro girls who told me they used to be blackjack dealers. My theory is that a lot of the dealers see what goes on with the other girls and get frustrated that they are not making more money.

I'll make sure to test my theory with extensive field experimentation during my next trip!

I think I was hoping that Piloto might answer some more concrete questions than how to spot the girl who is ready and willing to fuck you on the spot. To be honest, I have had that one figured since the age of 14. Eye contact is good, and certainly a good starter, but I am not interested in technique. This is not my question. I do pretty well at picking up non pros.

I always assumed that the women working at the casinos were officially discouraged from fraternizing with the customers. In fact, in all the dozens of times I have cruised the Jaragua looking for a chica, I have never so much as flirted with one of the employees, although eye contact has certainly been made on numerous occasions. In general, I have sought out the pretty girls playing the tables, a good number of whom are pros or semi-pros. My best catch in the Jaragua was a gorgeous 23 year old playing blackjack with her mother at her side. She and I chatted, and a few minutes later she suggested that we spend the night together. Mom pretended not to hear.

I guess the answer is that I will start flirting with the girls at the casinos, especially the cocktail waitresses, since they are not that busy and have the time to make small talk that might lead to a proposition from me if the feeling is good. But I would love to know which girls Piloto focuses on, and whether he always has to wait until shift cahnge at 4 am (or whatever ungodly time the night crew goes home to bed).

It's a 5 min walk from girls house. Go along the malecon, past the Jaragua and you will find a bar called "parada", behind the bar there is a restuarant "parada" and behind the restuarant is the casa de chicas also called "parada". She works there now.

Years ago my first trip to the DR I had no clue about any mongering scene, my introduction to it was a friendly chat with a waitress (my Spanish is pretty good) when I went to get a beer, and literally two hours after the wheels of the plane touched down I was back in the hotel room with her. After this she asked for a little help for her "sick kid", and I gave her 1000 DR which as luck would have it was the going rate. But yes, she really was working as a waitress.

Eye contact is generally the key. The girl in the shop who isn't looking to earn some extra on the side won't let you hold her gaze for more than a glance. Someone who is fishing, will.

BTW that's true in most of Latin America, not just the DR. Pretty girls in that culture are accustomed to being propositioned constantly and tend to avoid eye contact, unless such a proposition is going to be welcome.

I visit Santo Domingo every 2 weeks and Im fluent in Spanish, PM or post here any question.

I would like to hear more about this. I never know if they are in play, when their shifts end, etc. Are the casino girls you have asked out entirely regular girls (meaning it generally takes a date or two before they are in your arms) or are some of them enticed by the allure of extra cash? Do you have to play at their table? Or are you talking about the waitresses who are often gorgeous?

Which casinos are best?

Some anectdotes would be highly appreciated. F

P.P.s. I agree about the Courtyard. Also, the Palacio Hotel is clean, the beds are comfortable and it is VERY chica friendly (provided, of course, the girls have a cedula). I have brought 2 girls back on multiple occasions without so much as a lifted eyebrow by the front desk people. And, its right of off Conde, making picking up an independent in the park a 5-10 minute affair if you are in the mood.

I ve been a member of this forum for quite some time now but after reading some of the posts, I would like to give some tips so you can maximize and enjoy your trip to the beautiful Santo Domingo.

Hotel - No doubt about it, Marriott Courtyard, chica friendly and good location, close to everything.

Transportation - Do not take Taxi hotels, call Taxi Apolo 809-537-0000, 130 pesos almost anywhere in Santo Domingo, agree on the fare before getting into the taxi.

Non Pro Girls - Talk to any girl you see in casinos, supermarkets, etc.. I have been very lucky with casino dealers, knowing spanish really helps...

Sorry about your incident. Thanks for sharing. You're lucky it was a mild drug and not something stronger. Too bad about the pictures on the camera. I know how you feel. I had a camera loaded with pics lifted by girl in Colombia.

One of the things I try to do to reduce the chances of stuff like this from happening, is to get a look at their ID.

I have many corny methods to do this, my favorite being to act amazed that the chica is as young as she says she is. I then insist on seeing her cedula as proof. I figure the girls being human have to be a tad nervous to begin with, and my looking at her ID may plant a seed that I will remember her info. Of course, the only thing I look at is her picture to get a better idea of what she looks like when not all made up!

I don't particularly disagree with any of the comments on my last post; yes it would be better if I were fluent in Spanish, but I'm not. Okay? I'm not fluent in German, French, Russian, Arabic, Icelandish [is that right??], Mandarin, Tagalog or any of the other languages that are spoken in places I have traveled. I'll work on it but in the meantime let's talk about now, okay? And please understand, I could care less if I blow $100 here or there - I'm at that point in life where it simply doesn't matter; presumably you'll get there too.

As to the travel costs, I do a lot of consulting & typically "add-on" my hobby stops. So the air fare is negligible or free. Finally, I certainaly don't have a problem struggling with the language barrier a bit but I can assure you, even if I were as fluent in Spanish as the best of you, my clothes, my "mucho blanco" skin color & bright blue eyes would prevent me from blending in. Just the way it is. BTW - just because I don't see the particular attraction of the DR doesn't mean I won't stop off for another visit, just making my comments as a DR virgin, don't take 'em personally but feel free to tell me where [you think] I went wrong. (Actually, this was my 4th trip to the DR).

I'm a 55 y/o pretty experienced guy. I know the score out there & was ripped off earlier this week in the DR. It wasn't a particularly big deal for me but it could have been devastating for many. For the benefit of the others
who read this board, I'm going to go through the whole deal, including my mistakes, so hopefully others can avoid the same fate.

When I travel I take a second wallet with a xerox copy of my passport and just a little money. No credit cards, that's about it. Everything else remains locked up in the hotel safe. It's made of snakeskin since it grips the pocket really well. That's saved me from pick pockets at least once (Rome). My local currency I split between at least three pockets, depending upon denomination. I try to never show much & I try to only carry what I think I'll need plus about $100 or so. I don't wear jewelry, just a $100 Seiko I bought in Hong Kong. I'm average looking (but very Gringo - sorry, can't help that) with pretty poor Spanish skills though that never slows me down. I've been to some pretty dicey places without incident within the US & in about 70 different countries. My personality is such that I tend to forget negative things pretty quickly (perhaps a coping mechanism) & so this event is pretty much behind me & really won't slow me down a bit as I head to Costa Rica next week.

I took out a gal from The Girls House on Pasteur St. (Santo Domingo, DR) on Tuesday evening. Had a pretty good time but spent more than I really wanted to (about $150 US). There have been several comments on that experience already but overall a satisfactory time.

Well, on my way to visit her I had stopped off at the Intercontinental casino & spied a cute gal with essentially zero English skills. Big boobs, cute little face (front teeth slightly crooked) but decided to move on to the the Girl House instead.

Okay, now it's Wednesday & I've got to head down to the Hard Rock Cafe to pick up a few things for my kid. No biggie (though those $7 cab rides do add up). Had lunch in a nice little cafe & started back to the hotel when I noticed this local gal ahead of me with a perfect "sista" ass & lovely rack. It was the same gal I had seen in the hotel the preceding night. I offered her a drink & she accepted. We get along fine, finally agree on the deed (I'll skip the pricing structure since it seems to cause so much contention), & we head back to the hotel first (to pick up my camera). I was fully aware I was going to get ripped on the cab fare & I did but again, who cares? One thing I forgot was that I had an extra $100 in my pocket because I had originally planned to play a little blackjack later.

Take the same cab over to the Mystik & get a room. Have a good time; no complaints. No problem with the bbbj. No rush. In fact, she wants to stay longer. She likes me & wants to hang out. No costs, just have a good time. Finally we leave the hotel & she wants to stop for a capucino. I really have some work to do but what the hell. We go the The Renaissance & walk over to the pool. She offers to get the coffees - I want mine with ice. P280 for two coffees (another rip, IMHO) & we're sitting by the pool & it's a true GFE. She insists I take off my shirt & shoes, she helps. A little grab-ass here & there & we agree next time I'll put her on the register when I sign in. She says next time I don't pay, we just have a good time together. Her name is Pamela.

We soak up the sun for an hour or so & I get a little sleepy. Guess it's just the sun. I start to doze off & I feel her hands on me. Kinda nice. I feel her hands in my side pocket where I keep the P500 notes. "Don't worry darling..". I figure she just needs a few dollars for another drink. A fraction of a second later I wake up groggy. It's proably been another hour, she's gone, my money's gone, my cell phone's gone & my camera's gone (with some pretty damned good pics too!!).

I stumble (literally) up to my room, lock the door & crash for about 10 hours. In this state if I lean forward an inch I'm going all the way down. Finally wake up, got a good gash on the head (guess I did lean forward once too often 'cause there's a shitload of blood on the bathroom floor). So I'm out a cell phone, a camera & about $240. In the overall scheme of things, no big deal. The camera will get replaced by my customer at N/C to me as will the cell phone (actually I've been home 24 hours & they've both been replaced already). Mind you having to put the phone numbers back in the phone is a pain in the ass, but otherwise my total impact is $240 & a knot on the noggin. At my stage, essentially a zero impact. My paramedic buddies have chastized me for not getting stitches but I suspect by the time I figured out I busted my melon the 6 hours window was gone anyway.

My guess is I got hit with a dose of ghb. Now I understand why those ghb ODs always eat the pavement & it's not quite as funny as it used to be. Of course, everybody wants to know what happened. Okay, I hit my head on the damned TV door in the hotel room, okay? And the cell phone fell out of my too-short pockets in some friggin' cab. The camera replacement was transparent & the $240 was inconsequential. What did I do wrong? I've had great gfe's in other countries and most started very similar to this. Unfortunately I was too impaired to stop the hands in the pockets so by then it was simply over & I just didn't know it yet. In retrospect, I should have simply left back for my hotel, particularly since I had work to do. Hindsight sure is cheap. BTW - my total alcohol consumption that day not counting the mickey was 2 - 4 ounces of Presidente beer. I bought one at the Mystic and had a partial glass.

I couldn't/didn't spot any telltale signs of deviousness in the works. The waiter bbrought the drinks to us so she didn't even get the drinks. But obviously she handled them at some point and that was the fatal mistake (glad I only drank about a third of my iced coffee!). But isn't that common with a gal you're trying to develop a gfe experience with?

Bottom line - I lost nothing that wasn't easily replaced at no cost to me. I didn't lose my laptop, my credit cards or much money. And the ghb (or whatever) was a pretty good anesthetizing agent. I did lose nearly a day with my slurred speach, impossible-to-control fine motor skills & I'm sure the staff thinks I'm a drunk but so what?

Be careful out there, guys! Any constructive comments are welcome.

BTW....all this occurred after I posted my original first impression of SD. And if the air fare pricing's right I'll probably go back, but I'll stay elsewhere & probably skip the independants next time.....

I am appalled to read this, especially because I travel so much to the DR for work, and often pick up independents. My only comment is that I protect myself by always taking the girl back to my hotel, where a cedula is required- and photocopied- by the hotel. If the chica slipped me some GHB, she would probably be arrested (assuming that the Dominican police are minimally competent). I would think that such a possiblity would convince the chica to try other means to rip me off (really not hard, since I am constantly giving into unreasoanble demands for clothing, shoes and electronic goods. A good BBBJ goes a long way in twisting me around).

Tell me how a "mucho blanco" (as the girl in Panama called me), light-haired, very-blue eyed guy does that. We all play the cards we're dealt & I'm working on the Spanish thing and steadily improving but unless I leave my wife & move to L. A. I'll always have issues. Problably even if I did that. I still haven't figured out what I did that was "wrong", just luck of the draw I guess. Bottom line: other than a split melon & out a few bucks, no biggie. Could have been much worse; I suspect most single male travelers would have taken a bigger hit.

Anyway, it was published to help others. And that's a good point. Damned straight. At least I bent her over & gave it to her good first!

I hope you have better luck with those pus sy extortionists. I fuc ked 2 girls and knocked them up, both in the last year. One girl had an abortion, the other kept the kid. They deserved a good Rogering, maybe you made them bleed a bit. An ounce of blood for $100.
