Tip. Use the Metro Bus when traveling from Sosua to Santo Domingo. Its very efficient and clean (AC and bathroom).

It costs $10 and trip takes 4 1/2 hours -- It departs from the Texaco Station in Sosua every couple of hours.

Yes, there are touts in Santo Domingo. No, they are not on every corner like they are in Sosua. In Santo Domingo they post up outside hotels that cater to tourists and along the malecon. I get the Sosua scene. It's the guys I know who live there but don't own a bar, hotel, or restaurant who confuse me. I get bored in Sosua after a couple of hours.

The touts in Sosua don't really get on my nerves. The ones in Santo Domingo OTOH are really aggressive and persistent. Don't get me wrong, Santo Domingo can be a gold mine for a guy that is able to cope with these guys, but for a lot of guys it's overwhelming.

One night during my first ever stay in SD (I'd always stayed in Sosua before) I was walking along Pasteur when I was approached by a tout. I accepted his services and he took me to what must have been every casa between there and Zona Colonial. We walked for hours. Five or six had non-doable girls and hardly any customers, then there were some casas with a few customers and one or two doable girls, while others were sausage fests and quite dodgy.
