That might be, but this was not always the case. The Jaragua was notoriously unfriendly. The Hotel Meliá Santo Domingo was even worse. I went there with a GF, and every time we entered the hotel, they made a big scene trying to stop her from coming to our room (she was registered). Why? She is black and was in her 20's while I was in my late 50's and white as snow.

Exactly. In Philippines there are a few hookers that hang out in the common area, coffee shops, or restaurants at certain malls waiting for foreigners to pick them up. It is not like that in DR. In DR people mostly go to the mall with their families. You are not just going to walk up to someone then go home and fuck them. Of course you can walk up and meet people in a normal way (if you speak Spanish and are not shy around their mom or kids who will be with them) as you can do anywhere else on earth, but there is nothing special in meeting someone in a mall in particular.

And when Dominicans go to the mall they are going to either buy something or go to the movies. It is not a social event as in Philippines when you see tons of people just walking through the mall with no bags every weekend. I have never heard a Dominican person say they were just going to go hang out at a mall. Shit. Half of them would not even have money for transportation to get there anyway. And someone correct me if I am wrong, but there aren't but like 7 malls in the entire country anyway. Sambil, Agora, Bella Vista, and Megacentro in Santo Domingo. Las Colinas and another mall in Santiago. And there is the small Multiplaza in Higuey.

I always go to the Gold's Gym at Galería 360. It is not like the malls in the Philippines. One does not got o a mall for a pickup. On the other hand, the girls who work in the shops are generally young (18-21), naive and almost all of them will respond to friendly banter followed by a request for a phone number. I have gotten a phone number or two but alas, was never free enough to call the girl.

There are many more than 7 malls in Santo Domingo alone. A few not mentioned: Downtown Mall, Megacentro, Plaza Central, Diamond, Bella Vista, Agora, Acropolis. There, that's 7.

I don't really understand what is special about malls. If the goal is pick up girls from random encounters I think there would be better odds at transportation hubs like Parque Enriquillo, Luperón parada, or Duarte con Paris. The transfer station between the two metro lines would be a lot more comfortable with shelter from the searing sun.

To help us understand what's behind the question, can the original poster explain why you wouldn't just get a comfortable shady seat out on the Conde and take your pick of passing girls? Some girls are with their families for shopping like someone else explained about the malls. Others are with girlfriends and looking to be picked up for money. Still others are on the way to and from language or art classes or their jobs at restaurants and banks.

So, take this advice or go find out for yourself. Either way, let us know how you make out.

I Guess what OldKool is saying is with work and effort its possible but, its unlikely in SD. You better have skills, luck, be in your early twenties, (like they are) and, have patience.

Honestly I just asked hotel front desk, they pointed me in right direction. One was on the road behind the hotel a few blocks toward the airport. One was on a side road the other direction. Without directions I wouldn't find either one they are pretty hidden but had a surprisingly large number of girls in both.
