Just got to Santo Domingo. My girl met me at the airport and followed behind me to my hotel in Gascue. We pulled up to the hotel and I heard all this damn noise. I was like what is going on. This is always a quiet neighborhood. I got out of the car and saw this chick yelling and she picked up a brick and took it to this guy's car. The windshield, the hood, the side panel, the passenger side window, the back window. By the time I could get my phone out of and start recording dude was already driving off.

My girl got out of her car and was telling me not to record it. I said bullshit. WORLDSTAR! I came up to the hotel and my man that runs the night shift started apologizing. He showed me and my girl to the room and told me to not worry about checking in until later. He had blood on his shirt and we asked him ehat had happened. I am of the opinion that you should invite them to where you are, no matter where, unless you are the venturesome kind. A) You would have the home team advantage. B) The trains from SD Norte makes it economical and the buses are cheap too and C) there is no comparison of food and shopping option in the touristy areas where you are likely to stay, compared to the North. You would tell the women that you would pay for the passage when they meet in case they have money issues.

SD Este might be somewhat different, especially around Ave Venezuela with a prominent night life but there are people here more knowledgeable than me, to speak of that.

I have met 2 different women on Dominican Cupid who both live in Santo Domingo Norte. It does not appear to be "close" to the usual tourist / monger areas, such as Zona Colonial.

Has anyone ever ventured in Santo Domingo Norte. Or Santo Domingo Este, either?

I see that there is a "metro train line" in Santo Domingo proper, with a station at the end-of--the-line that gets you closer to Santo Domingo Norte.

Has anyone ever ridden on this train, up close to Avenida Charles de Gaulle?

Having past through the northern part of Santo Domingo many times in the bus, it appears to be to be a predominantly industrialized area with poor quality housing. Of course perceptions from the main autopista route could be deceptive, and being a poor area does not necessarily mean it is dangerous or violent, but it probably does mean that you are not going to encounter a whole lot of tourist police stopping the traffic so that you can cross the road or telling you to have a great day and thank you for visiting the DR.

The area is otherwise known as Villa Mella. Have the girls come to you. They will most likely prefer it that way because there is not much there in the way of upscale entertainment and they don't probably want to be seen 'shitting where they eat'. Any girl will know the "puerta del Conde" which is the historic arch at the eastern end of Parque Independencia that faces Pacos on the Conde. They will meet you there and they can get there easily on public transport. Have fun.
