I had a barber try to charge my friend 800 pesos for a 5 minute haircut. We were on the colonial zone. It was a tourist trap. Dominicans go to their own neighborhood barbers. The colonial zone is not a neighborhood. The whole area is designed to attract tourists. We learned the hard Financial lesson.

    I enjoyed reading your report.
Thanks GrownMan, def was a red flag and I never will put myself in that situation again. I guess the owner wanted to do me a solid but never again. I always keep my dog tags on under my shirt so if something crazy were to happen, I could claim I'm here on military orders perhaps and maybe that could simmer a situation down. But you're right, lesson learned and I made it back in one piece with $50 less bucks but the girl from Teressa made it worth it.

    Elaborating on Scenario

Ahhh I understand, let me explain a bit further. I without a doubt am not lying about this situation, I still have the WhatsApp messages for proof. My Spanish is not as good as the locals but I guess the conflict was that he confirmed via WhatsApp earlier that day. He took her to lunch apparently and I guess he said I'll see you tonight and did a verbal confirmation. Of course I didn't know this, so I come in later that night, asked for her, paid the owner (leave back to my place) and as she was getting dressed to leave the guy storms in saying that he had her first and has messages to prove BUT just didn't pay yet. Or perhaps he did, it was an odd situation and I just sat there and smiled because it wasn't that serious for me.

To answer your final question, tbh I don't know what race he was. He spoke fluent Spanish and English but looked kind of Indian LOL. But I know without a doubt he wasn't full Dominican. No possible way. I've been traveling for 7 years back and forth, I have an idea of what they look like. And he wasn't Haitian either.

    Expanding on this topic.

    OldKool,

Could you expand on that a bit more please? Dealing with local touts part?

Cameroon: I believe this was the name of the place but they had a girl in there who was absolutely gorgeous, 19 years old and could tell she wasn't tainted by the life yet. Very bubbly and almost model like. Met her after my situation above in Oasis but it was too late in the night so I got her WhatsApp and left. Talked all day and came back and paid my money and the craziest thing happens. Now this place allows you to leave with the girl for 2 hours for 110 or go upstairs for 1 hour and rent a room for the same price. I wanted as much time with her as possible so as she's getting ready to leave this guy storms in going nuts how she promised him tonight and yelling at me saying I need to honor it. I have a chill personality, I will never argue over much especially a working woman but I was tempted to just say "well just ask her who she wants to leave with" but that would of hurt his feelings because I'm on WhatsApp with her giving her the intel and she's telling me sorry and how some clients feel like they own them.

Was the guy arguing at you Dominican or a gringo. I just cannot see a Dominican arguing to pay a chica over $100 for sex. Peep the game.

    r.
Your on the Internet looking for street chicas prices? That's like going to Longhorn looking for Burger King prices. You will be very limited in your selection.
In the capital; if the Chicas know the gringos pay $100+ at oasis and foxy. Street girls are charging 2000+. Why would she take the time to set up an account, offer a non-street and casa Quality and experience, only to get paid street chica prices?
Do you know what the average chica gets from their tinder clients? There is a reason why Tinder has overshadowed Dominican Cupid, Skokka, and tagged.
I guess you’re like me stuck in my old ways of prices. DP The new breed is making it hard out here for us.

    InDriver works well also

Many of my Dominican friends feel Uber is a ripoff and will only use them in a pinch. They prefer inDriver. If you know what the price to your destination should be you can offer that or try to get a better deal.

My experience with Oasis and Foxy is to be direct with them espcially if you have already bought pussy there. I just tell them let me drink, if I see someone I like I will call them and if you keep bothering me I will go next door. And when I go there I make sure I have had enough drinks in the system to get my full hour.

    I only rent chicas

This a common hustle that works all the time. The pot holes are so bad you can easily do damage. In SD Uber works great and is cheap.

    Hidden Club in Ciudad Colonial

Thanks for the tip. I found the club. 2-3 men were in front of this door with no indications, or even that it was a bar.

The place is right next to Suite Colonial, on Street View you can see Hotel Odette Colonial.

I went there around 11 pm on a Saturday and there were 7-8 girls including 1-2 really fine and beautiful. When I asked the price I was told 120 usd. I said I wasn't paying that price, they offered me a discount but I left without even negotiating.

    Quick visit to GBP

My bad experience at Oasis between Sosua and Puerto Plata (see: report) asked for consolation. So I went to GBP. First impression is that the place is smaller than I thought: it's just a small bar. The girls (5-6) are welcoming but not intrusive, however they are all overweight.

I hired a friendly Dominican for 2000 or 2500 DOP (I forget) who treated me very well.

There were some SW in the colonial zone they claimed to have a room but I didn't dare to follow them. I haven't seen any information about this on the forum.

Because I know how to handle myself during a traffic stop.

Even someone who has been visiting for 15 years does not have the level of driving experience and frequency to make a definitive statement on traffic enforcement in the Dominican Republic nor the risks. At least not the way I can, since I live here and unfortunately have to drive on almost a daily basis.

Driving in the Dominican Republic is no joke. And those in these forums that try to underplay the risks are misleading people. I do my best to minimize my driving in Republica Dominicana. And I know what I am doing. Take that as you wish.

Traffic enforcement has improved. There is talk of red light cameras and speed cameras being mounted and operated by subcontractors. There are more AMET officers on the roads today than when I first moved here. And there has been a big improvement of the professionalism of the AMET officers and in the police and military in general. As they have received several pay raises and the controlling legal authorities are cracking down on even petty correction by running stings against police that set up check points for motorists.

I might not be an expert on The Sue, but driving around the Dominican Republic. Yeah I know a little about that.

    -Night Life-.

Oasis: of course has an array of girls, its a few that are beautiful but its something about that place where its just forced. Girls want to rip you apart and its almost unbearable to have a simple drink and just observe. Ended up going up with one girl for $110 in their provided rooms, I saw her in the light and wasn't as attracted to her. Fellas, don't get fooled by the dark ambience in the club, try to get them in some light to really see them. We go up and she just uses the bathroom in front of me, door open and I'm now even more turned off. Beds look disgusting and I'm thinking to myself I got to get outa here ASAP. Finish within 10 min and decided not to go back. They take card payments for everything if interested.

I let him win the battle but that's not how Day 2 ends for me!

Hidden Club: Because of the situation above the owner of Cameroon says he will find me girls and give me a driver (what I thought was free, but of course it wasn't smh) and brings me to this hidden place owned by a guy I met earlier who's Haitian. Here is the place to put in your google maps to find it since it has no name, but its a black gate. Search "Aremsa."

Casa Teresa: omggggg, this was Oasis on steroids. Steeper prices but the women, beds, club in general was more upscale. Immediately saw this cute little spinner, and got us a drink and we were sitting and she did the whole rub my meat with her hand as we were siting and I said, yep, lets go. Def worth the price of admission which was $140 for the room, my beer and a lady drink. I think its $110 for the room, beer was 10 but a lady drink is $20. Note: they only take cash no card.

--Ultimately my destination is Sosua so how to get there?

Caribe Tours Bus Station: so the cost is $500 DOP for a ride to Sosua, which has stops in La Vega, Santiago, Puerto Plata and Sosua. The buses are actually pretty decent but be aware, I left at 11 am and didn't get to Sosua until about 4:30 pm so bring snacks, drinks and something to watch or listen to. You don't need a reservation but it helps to have one, you don't pay online it just keeps a space open for you but get there 30 min before.

TLDR: Casa Teresa is still top tier but it comes at a cost. Oasis is okay for when you are out of cash and only have a card. Check out the hidden spot and let me know how it is during peak hours. Don't be afraid of taking a bus to Sosua, although long it wasn't bad at all for 10 bucks.
Great report! As I am actually here in SD, I figured I would expand on these notes. Cameroon lounge, assuming that's where you were, is best on Wednesdays. Great selection of cigars and plenty of spots to relax. Super dead on a Sunday night.

The "hidden club" appears to be Hotel Odette. Its right next to the map location for Aremsa with black gated bars in front. Odette had about 5 girls. Decent looking. Its a VERY chill place, definitely not like Oasis or Foxys. Prices are 6 K for 1 hour at the club. Includes room and chica. Chica gets 3 K of it. Or you can take her out for 2 hours for the same price. I would go back there for sure. Just not on a Sunday night. One chica said Monday night is the best night to visit.

    Taco.
