so i had a 5 day / 4 night trip to the dr. i'm going to start off writing about the day of departure, my last day. in a weird memento sort of way. well, checked out of the hotel in juan dolio in the morning and heaeded to san pedro de macoris to drop off my cupid chica (2nd of two cupid chicas, more on that later) in my rental car. on the way out of san pedro, i drove past a couple of sw on the side of the highway. then in a flash i remembered jao mentioned getting the cheapest bj in his life at around the same spot. i saw a dominican soldier dressed in army fatigue standing at the gas station, so i yelled at him for help. he was telling the sw to get out and leave me alone, i handed him the loose change so he could give it to her. after some more shouting back and forth, finally she got out. i was relieved and drove off. about 20 yards. then i noticed my digital camera that was sitting in the console was gone! i slammed the car in reverse and yelled "she stole my camera! she stole my camera!" sure enough, she had it in her hand and was holding it hostage for a us$20 ransom! the soldier saw that and he pulled out his gun, ordering her to give it back to me. well. he could order but he is not law enforcement, there was no bite to his order and the scumbag ho knew that. by now a crowd has gathered, yelling at her to give back my camera but she just wouldn't freakin' budge! the soldier then pushed her into my car and he got in as well and said "let's go to the police." although my flight wouldn't leave for a few more hours, there was no way i spent that time a the police station and ran the risk of her being truly ****d. as much as i absolutely hate, despise, abhor, to give in, nonetheless i felt so defeated i had no other choice but to buy my way out of this fucking mess for us$20. did the exchange, wiped the tears off my eyes and drove away us$20 lower in net worth.

what was supposed to be the cheapeset bj ever turned out to be neither. i can laugh about it now; i keep saying to myself, more tuition for another lesson learned. well, because on this trip, i paid for a few other lessons as well. to be continued.

Prosecutor General: Prostitution is a criminal offense in DR.

Domínguez Brito refutes assertions by head of the Supreme Court.

Prosecutor General Francisco Domínguez Brito yesterday instructed all of the country's district attorneys to pursue prostitution as a criminal offense, assuring that its severity is considered immediately "after drug trafficking."

Domínguez Brito also informed that his agency investigates cases of abused foreigners that are rotated between brothels, and said that there are the so-called "massage centers" that operate "close together" to schools, reason why he reiterated to the authorities the need to fight all manifestations the trafficking of persons.

He also warned that the persecution is not against the people who are sexually abused with this business, but against the proprietors who "abuse the vulnerability and economic situation to operate them sexually and to obtain great benefits against their dignity"."All this, individually, affects our community, the law is clear and in regard to the principle of its applicability we are forced to act," stated Domínguez Brito.

The official's comments regarding prostitution's criminality contradict statements made on Monday by Supreme Court president Jorge Subero Isa, regarding the country's lack of sanctions against it.

In communiqué #05016, Domínguez Brito issued instructions to the public prosecutors regarding the persecution of commercial sexual operations, in compliance with Law 137-03 and Law 24-97.

Domínguez Brito explains that those laws establishes that any person who for the purpose of prostitution in any way assists, attends, conceals of recruits people for its operations; receive benefits from it, allows it, contracts, trains or maintains, even with consent, is guilty of philandering, and is punishable by six months to three years in prison and a Road $150, 000 fine.
